I'd say, about 85% of its teachings need to be cleared up?

If you're talking about the Church, I'd have to say its probably more like 1-2%.

That depends on what you mean by THE church.

Nothing needs to be 'cleared up' it just needs to be wiped out completely.
No probably not a good idea, as people would have to go to war and take the responsibility and God is just to good a scape-goat.

Can you be more specific? Which 85% needs to be cleared up?

How about we go with the left hand 85%.

Hmmmm...

I'd say the church needs to use as old of a translation of the Bible as possible to use as formation of doctrine, instead of English versions that are poorly translated or oftentimes badly edited too.

The Church also should more actively crush bigotry within its own ranks. Making sure it doesn't promote hatred should be a major part of the Church, otherwise it could risk being stigmatized like Islam is by Islamic Fanaticism and Islamic Terrorism now.

lol, actually that would be more Church conduct then church teachings wouldn't it? Still its an important point.

It would but you made some very good points!

I don't know why the church doesn't.
It's really stupid.
Smart Christians know their beliefs, but all the loud ones are just like,"lalalala. We can twist the Bible to support our biggoted hatred if we want too! lalala!"
It really frusterates me.

I actually know why.

Or at least I have a good theory.

The church builds much of its doctrine based on control over the population. Sexual conduct rules (like no sex before marriage), rules for what you're allowed to say, who you're allowed to listen to, and a variety of others grant the church a great level of control over much of the population.

This grants the church power, which was likely just for the purpose of safeguarding people's souls initially. Now however the Church has become drunk with power and is outright commiting blasphemy against God's word in order to hold onto its control.

So the reason why the church does not change is twofold.

One: Its conduct gives it power and control

and

Two: to change implies that the church is fallible, and the church's apparent infalliblity is the only thing that keeps much of the people under its sway. If the church was proven fallible a large number of people would leave it.

Obviously this does not represent the whole clergy, merely a small minority in power that oftentimes think they're doing the right thing by maintaining control, and don't realize or don't care about the harm they do.

They've been saying as such since the 1300's and earlier. Anything else new?
