I have a squire, and it's a good beginner's guitar, but I'm not a beginner anymore
But when you're a beginner, you can't really tell that it's sound is bad.
I have a mini squire, which has an even worse sound because the strings are thinner xp

my friend's little bro has a squire, and when i'm at his house jaming, i use it instead of my 13 year old fender strat, just because it stays in tune better. and he is happy because he gets to use a real fender instead of his squire or my friend yamaha strat ripoff, but next time i'm there i'm going to play the yamaha because he just got three new seymour dunean pickups.

I have a Squier Affinity Series Strat. Let me think of what I can definitely tell is wrong with it:
  • Fret buzz on the low E=terrible. I told my guitar teacher about it, and he adjusted my truss rod AND raised the action, and it still buzzes.
  • Intonation=crap. I swear, you could get the thing perfectly in tune, strum one chord on it, then check it and everything would be way off again.
  • Neck=bleh. Whenever I try to do any series of notes on the 5th-6th strings, I always find it difficult, because the neck's a bit too thick. Of course, that may be because I haven't stretched my fret hand enough yet, but whatever.
  • Last, but not least, the thing keeps threatening to fall apart. The tremolo creaks like hell whenever I try to use the whammy bar, the jack keeps feeling like it's falling out, and the headstock just feels badly put together.

Well, that's what I DEFINITELY know is wrong with it. I'm not so sure about the tone, since I have nothing to compare it to. One thing I'm certain on, though, is that I want a different guitar. Especially this Schecter hollowbody that's been in my local music store for a while. That thing is THE s**t. Let me try to find a picture of it...

It looks just like that, except it's Schecter, not Gibson.

I think Squiers are perfect for a begginer, if you play and dont like it, you can sell it for a modest price. I wouldnt go out and buy a $4000 Les Paul Studio as a begginer guitar, and never play it.
Squiers were made for the reason above.

I played a Squier strat forever before I got around to getting my SG. At the time, I didn't think it was too bad.. but after trying to play it in comparison to the SG, it blew me away. Everything sounds buzzy, and the feel is very awkward. But like I said, when I sucked, I didn't notice.

Wow, after just reading the first page and going no further I believed this had to be said: Squier guitars have great potential in the hands of someone that actually knows what their doing.

A Squier is a Fender, enough said, same thing, maybe some different woods but they are the same exact thing. I would personally rather own a Squier then a Fender. Why? Because not only are they cheap, but with a few little tweaks here and there it can be better then your standard MIM Fender at what may be a third of the price most the time.

I agree that when Squier first came out they were shitty, but with time their quality has grown and most people just cling to the past, others just hear they suck so when they see one they go: "OMG A SQUIER!!! PIECE OF !@#$!!!"

I honestly can't stand those that put Squier down, honestly if you were to compare the way the a Squier feels in comparison to how a Fender feels, it's the same. The sound quality isn't as good simply because they have cheaper pickups in the Squier, just invest in some new pickups and a Squier will blow a Fender dead out of the water.

i tell you what, not really on the subject, but you take a squire and fix it up and make it sound awsome that's cool. you buy a thousand $ fender and in 25 years the fender is going to be worth a lot more money and still play better.

Ironically, they're probably one of the best sounding types of purely electric guitars when they're unplugged... lol

My first guitar was a squier. If I were to go back, I would've gone for something a bit nicer. They're not THAT bad, though. Great guitars if you want to spend less than 200 bucks.

I think that, for the most part, it's agreed that they're "starter" guitars. And cheap price too. How many people are gonna buy the fanciest Les Paul they can find instead before they even can play well?

dude a squier is a fender made in asia. thats it. lower price from lower labor.

thats it. you guys who say squiers suck havent even used squiers before i bet. i own one. i use it live. it sounds exactly like a fender cause ive used my friends fender.

dont listen to any of them. squiers are good guitars. professional too. you just have to adjust action, and pick up height and its done. fenders already have that done to em and thats why you dont like squiers. cause your too damn lazy to customize the feel your self,

go do some resarch.
