[+Sy-chan gets bigger+]

All was dark as the little boy walked, unsure of where he was. The thud of his sneakers hitting the ground echoed all through-out...wherever he was, and it didn't seem like he was very comfortable in the setting. Giving a fearful whimper, he finally concluded that it would be useless wandering around in the dark, so he planted himself down in hopes someone would come looking for him.

Suddenly a gust of cold wind blew out of nowhere, making the poor boy shiver. Clinging to himself to retain body heat, he continued to shudder as he began to cry, allowing the tears to flow freely down his face. He was afraid, and he didn't know what to do.

Then it shone. A bright light in the midst of the darkness. As he reached for it though, the light faded, leaving him in the dark once more...

XXX

"Wha..." Syrus mumbled as he rubbed his head. It was dark, yet he could still make out that he was in his room. Shaking his noggin he felt around for his glasses, and placed them on the bridge of his nose.

"What a crazy nightmare..." he murmured as he got up to walk of the slight fright that still lingered inside of him. He didn't want to go to sleep just yet. As he toddled around his room he stopped at the vase that he had come out of so long ago. It seemed...shorter in someway. Looking at it closely he saw that it was smaller, the mouth at the same level as his head.

But vases couldn't shrink... So that only left the explination of...

"I GOT BIGGER!" he shouted in elation, then quickly covered his mouth. He blushed in embarassment as he heard footsteps coming towards his room.

"Ooops..."

[+Lunch Time+]

Pots and pans panged together as the little floofy haired boy dug through the cabinet, looking for something. It had to be in here somewhere. After all, he had just used it a few days ago, and he saw where Mom put it away. A large stack of pots sat outside of where they were supposed to be as the boy himself went deeper and deeper into the cabinet.

"What are you looking for?" asked Sanctus as he peered at the boy with curiously as he continued to sured feverishly for...whatever it was. Soon gray eyes popped out of the darkness, along with a smiling Syrus.

"I'm looking for that square pan that Mom taught me how to use. I wanted to make toasted cheese for everyone for lunch today." he said with a sigh. "But I can't find it. Have you seen in San?"

The angel cat shook his head. "No, I'm afraid I haven't, though Miss Mizu is out right now anyway, so you shouldn't be using the stove to begin with." he said, picking up a few pans in his paws. "Now come on and let's get the kitchen cleaned up before she gets home. Here, I'll help you out."

Syrus smiled and gave a small chuckle. "Alright. Let's get to work. Maybe I can make milkshakes instead. Mom does like those a lot!" he said as he began putting the pots back where they belonged.

[Syrus Journal-2]

I am very confused journal...with myself and and the ways that I act... I tried talking to Mom about it, but she's so busy with work that she said she'll try to help me out later. It's only fair. She works so I can eat, but still something is bothering me...

I saw my good friend Daine after she had been away for a while. Her mother had also been very busy, and that's why she hadn't been around for some time. I was very happy to see her, and after talking with her for a while we went to the beach to watch the stars and talk some more...

Long story short, I was a bit sleepier then I thought and ended up clinging to her arm and leaning on her. She seemed a bit freaked out in my opinion...even though she pretended not to. Or perhaps she wasn't...I was still slightly tired and could be over-exagerating things, but it was still an odd situation to get into...

She said she would spend the day with me today...I just hope my actions didn't make it so that she wouldn't want to be my friend anymore...though I wouldn't blame her if she didn't...

[+Fun in the Sun+]

Syrus cringed slightly as he looked at the large mass of water in front of him. Sure, it wasn't the ocean or anything, but for some odd reason it made him more nervous to look at this then the sea. Then again, Syrus had often proven that he had an odd way of thinking.

"I...I don't like it here..." he mumbled.

Mizu chuckled and patted the boy's head. He seemed so afraid of the pool, but then again he was never fond of water short of a bathtub. Pulling out a flat rubbery circle she began to blow air into it until it was a full innertube. Handing it to Syrus she smiled.

"Don't worry Syrus. I'll be here and this will keep you floating if you wear it around you. Syrus shuddered slightly but slipped the tube over him and smiled meakly.

"If you say so..." he said, and with that Mizu picked him up, he himself still clinging to the tube to keep it from falling off. Keeping one eye open and one closed he watched as Mizu waded into the shallow end first, then gently set him in.

He shuddered at first. The water was cold! But then as he swung his legs back and forth in the water he couldn't help but laugh a little. It felt pretty good! Mizu smiled and patted him again.

"One step at a time..." she said to herself as she watched him clumsily paddle from one end of the shallow side to another. "One step at a time..."

[+A Tale of Woe+ -part one-]

Taking off the pirate hat as he walked in, Syrus beamed, pumpkin still under his arm. How very clever of his mother, sending the note to the goddesses without him knowing for them to give him to him. The poor guy seemed so frightened, so Syrus gave him the name of Danaus, to try and calm him down.

It was late, and Mizu knew that the party was going to end late, so she'd probably was asleep. Syrus didn't wasnt to disturb that, seeing as she hadn't gotten a decent sleep for a while...reasons unknown to him. Tip-toeing to his room as quietly as possible, he set the orange orb on his bed and went back to close the door.

"Well, that was fun," he said with a whisper while he slowly pushed the door shut.

"If...you...say...so..." said a whisper, a voice oddly sad and eerie, behind him.

Syrus turned around in fright, and there it was, a ghost whisping its way out of his pumpkin, the same expression on it's face. Syrus removed his glasses, rubbed his eyes, cleaned his glasses, and placed them back on his nose. Yup...it was still there.

"Da...Danaus?" he asked. The ghost merely blinked.

"If...that...is...what...you...wish...to...call...me..." was its reply.

[+A Tale of Woe+ -part two-]

Syrus, after allowing sleep to clear his frightened head, peered at his new ghost...friend, with curiousity.

"So...Danaus... how did you get in there?" he asked, nodding his head towards the jack-o-lantern. The ghost swirled about and blinked, but said nothing. Syrus sighed, rubbing his head. What a stubborn little spirit.

"Come on now...I think I have a right to know, seeing as I own the pumpkin...Unless you don't mind wandering the streets without a home or anything..." The ghost gasped in horror.

"You...wouldn't...do...THAT...would you?" he asked with a frightened whisper.

Syrus chuckled. "Of course not! But still...Mizu might want you to leave if she doesn't know where you came from...She's very protective like that..." The ghost looked away as if thinking, then closed his eyes and sighed in defeat.

"Very...well..." he said. "I was born...as a mortal to a...very wealthy family...long ago...I was taken...to the family fortune teller...when I was a young teenager...and she fortold...I would destroy the family name...In fear of their wealth...they had me killed...by an assassin...As my spirit lingered...I watched as my family's name...fell apart...because the townsfolk loved me and enjoyed my company...and they figured out how I died...because the assasin got drunk and blabbed..." He paused. "I remained as a spirit on the mortal plain, loosing my name and humanity...I became a lowly whisp of what I used to be...then two women came, and said I could have a family again...and a home...and gave me shelter within the carved gorde you now own...It shall never rot or spoil, or so I have been told..."

Syrus blinked. "Well, I hope you don't mind it being a bit crowded here..." he said. "But you're welcome to stay with us and be part of the family! Hold on, I'll go and grab Mom and introduce you!" and with that he skipped off, leaving the ghost to hover about on his own.

And for the first time in a long time, he smiled

[+Drinking and Thinking+]

Mizu yawned a bit as she snuggled down in her sheets, cup of tea in her hands. Things had been awfully stressful as of late, and she just wanted to relax and enjoy herself.

Deadlines had been met, bills were paid, heck, she even got the taxes done early this year. There was nothing more that needed to be done...With a content sigh she sipped her tea and closed her eyes, just wanting to enjoy the silence and solitude of her home.

Which, as always, was never really silent at all...

*crash*

With a long sigh she set her teacup on the night stand and wiggled out of bed, throwing her soft dark blue robe over her pajamas. It was probably Api...or Danaus... they both had a tendency to break things without meaning to. When she got to the kitchen she was proven right. Api stared at a pile of shattered glass worriedly on the floor.

"Api, are you alright?" she asked as she turned the light on. The cat jumped up in shock and then winced once he knew that it was indeed her.

"I...I really didn't mean to this time Mizu...honest! Please...please don't be mad!" he pleaded in an oddly frightened tone.

Mizu tilted her head. The cat had been acting odd as of late. He was a bit more scitterish then usual, and it troubled her a bit.

"Mistakes happen Api..." she said as she started to sweep up the glass. "But what's wrong? You seem spooked..."

Api faltered a bit. "Well...ah...you see...I went to get a drink...but this white thing flew past me! It scared the life out of me!"

"You mean Danaus?"

"Oh! That was him? Ah, but...uh..."

Mizu crossed your arms playfully. "You're afraid of ghosts, aren't you?"

Api gave an angry hurt look. "Me? No! Never! No...well ye...I mean no!"

Mizu sighed and threw away the glass, and picked Api up. "I'll talk to Syrsu about making sure that Danaus stays in his room at night, okay?"

Api shivered a bit and sighed. "Okay"

[+Silent Angel+]

Syrus had been watching the vase like a hawk. Of what the goddesses had said, this vase had been spurting feathers for almost a year, and that the previous owner didn't want to take care of it anymore. Poor vase...poor person inside the vase. He was guessing it was a girl due to the colorations, but he could be wrong, and didn't want to risk being proved wrong. Still, he was looking forward to a new addition to the family. Suddenly the vase began to rock and sway, and all of a sudden a little blond girl came shooting out and careened into the floor. Worried, Syrus ran over and picked her up.

"Are you alright?" he asked. The girl rubbed her head and smiled, opening her mouth and moving it. Syrus didn't hear anything.

"Um...what did you say?" The girl looked at him confused and then started 'talking' again, but stopped midway with a horrified look on her face. She COULDN'T talk. Tears filled her eyes as she clung to her brother, sobbing silently.

What good was a silent angel?

It was dark, though, night time usually was. The Taji household was quiet as everyone had tucked themselves away for the night, or working on late night projects, depending on who it was really.

The angel girl known as Suzura has brought the two newer vases into her room, seeing that the two that had come from those vases got along in a weird sort of way, and she couldn’t trust the girl out and about at night, afraid she might draw on Syrus while he slept or something bad like that. The tanned skinned girl could still easily fit in her vase, so she slept in there. The mummy boy on the other hand was too tall to stay in his vase. He was practically the size Suzura was, and he was just a surprise. The small girl insisted that the mummy just sleep on newspaper like a good baby dog, but Suzura tucked him into a spare blanket and then lay down in her own bed and drifted off to sleep.

Kyrie waited, curled up in her vase, waiting for the angel to fall asleep. She wasn’t tired in the least right now, and wanted to cause some mischief. After the bigger girl’s breathing became steady, she slowly wiggled out from her vase as silently as possible and tiptoed over to the now sleeping mummy boy.

“Mummz” she whispered harshly, which made him jolt awake in shock. This made Kyrie giggle, though she had to stifle it as to not awaken Suzura.

Mummz moaned sleepily. “Whaaaaaaat Kyriiiiiiie waaaaant?” he drawled out quietly. “Sleeeeepy…”

Kyrie gave him a quick kick. “Get up dog. We’re going to go have some fun,”

Mummz yelped. Normally he’d be more then willing to go with Kyrie, but he was too tired. Instead he wrapped the blanket tighter around him and turned away from her. “Sleeeepy. Haaave fuuuuun wiiiithout…” he drawled, a bit more loudly as to show Kyrie he was not afraid to wake Suzura up.

Kyrie growled and kicked him harder. “Fine dog, but you’re not getting fed tomorrow then…” she threatened, but they both knew that was a hollow lie. Like Mizu would have let him go without getting something to eat. Instead she worked her way over to the window to have a peek outside.

The full moon hung brightly in the sky.

“Oh shi…” she started as she stared, and as the moonlight hit her skin she could already feel her skin stretching ever so slightly. She scrambled to her vase and plopped herself inside.

“Gotta find it gotta find it,” she huffed in a panic, but whatever ‘it’ was, it was no longer there.

“Nonononono!” she screamed, which jolted everyone in the room awake.

Mummz got to the vase first, screams of pain emanating from it. He peered inside. “Whaaaaat wroooooooong?” he asked, reaching a long hand in, and brought it back out in pain, a furry little wolf thing gnawing on him. It had a studded collar with a heart on it, and an eye patch, but that was about it.

“Gah!” he shrieked, waving his arm, sending the thing flying into a wall.

Meanwhile, Syrus was up looking at a vial that he had found in Kyrie’s vase. Earlier in the day he had caught sight of it, and it was glowing green for goodness sake, so he asked her what it was. She merely told him to bite her, and that was the end of that. Apparently it worried Suzura too, so she told him to grab it while she was helping Mizu give her a bath, seeing as it indeed took two to give her one.

So that’s what he was doing as he heard a thud coming from his sister’s room, as though something had hit the wall. He rolled his eyes and walked over and tapped on the wall as a warning to be quiet. If the muffled screaming wasn’t enough, now they were throwing things. They must be rough housing or something. Kyrie and Mummz were always doing that anyway.

Suzura was backing up into a corner as Mummz was trying to subdue to tiny wolflike Kyrie, who was growling lowly. She heard a knocking on the wall, and began to beat on it to get Syrus’ attention. Just then, the were got past Mummz finally and dug her claws right into Suzura’s face. She would have screamed, if she could, but being mute put a damper on things.

‘Ok, now things are getting out of hand…” Syrus thought with a sigh, pocketing the green vial and getting up. He honestly thought the return beating was Kyrie being a smart aleck. He stomped over to the next room and threw open the door only to see his angel sister bleeding and screaming silently as Mummz continued to pry something furry off of her as it continued to claw and bite and both him and her.

Syrus was quick though, and stronger then Mummz was at this particular moment in time. He was able to yank of the thing with more ease then Mummz attempts. It wasn’t until he saw the patch and the collar that he had a feeling of what was going on. His mind was so preoccupied by trying to put two and two together he didn’t seem to react to the own bites and scratches he was getting all over his one arm and parts of his face as he held her close, moving to the window.

He took a good look at the moon outside, then to who he now knew was his little sister. Rummaging through his pocket, he pulled out the vial and uncorked it with his teeth and shoved it into her muzzled mouth.

After a few glugs slipped down her, her crazed movements slowed, and the wild look in her eye vanished. She blinked a couple of times as Syrus sat her down, looking at his bleeding wounds, and then at Suzura’s, and then at several parts of wrapping missing on Mummz. She whimpered and crawled back into her vase, and the other three soon heard soft crying coming from it, followed every once in a while by a mournful howl.

“Mummz go get firssssst aaaaaaide boooox….” the mummy said finally. “Family need fiiiixin’. First Suzusiss, then Sybrooooth, then Mummmz, then Kyky,” and with that he lumbered off.

The rest of the night was filled with applying disinfectants on wounds and wrapping things up, be it a mummy or a bite. Syrus walked off for a bit, but only to come back with snacks and drinks for everyone including Kryie, who had to be lured out with the prospect of food and the sound of everyone saying over and over again that no one was mad at her. Syrus placed the vial back into her vase and apologized for taking it, and instead of being snippy and rude, Kryie merely said that it was fine, and he was just being a big brother.

When Mizu peered into the room in the morning, she saw all the kids sleeping, curled up on each other. She sighed. She’d ask about all the bandages later during lunch.
