I watched Mononoke Hime, that's about it. I did like it, being an enviromentalist, but I do think that Ashitaka could have been a little less...I dunno, goody goody-ish.

true it was very different and i do dearly love the book but i still thought it was pretty a awesome movie.......
I'm a hardcore 'by the book' person. D: The Harry Potter movies made me mad too. I don't like reading books then watching them completely misrepresented by movies. That's why I either read the book or watch the movie-- I have never liked a movie and its book equally.
most times i work like that too, but i have recently been trying to see books and movies as different things..... i like seeing movies for movies because they can't always put all the events into it.....not to mention that certain things are just to off the wall to bring to life.

don't forget LotR peter jackson was the first to even consider making such an epic story come to life, and even with shortening and omitting scenes it was extremely expensive.

I have seen: Castle in the Sky; Kiki's Delivery Service; Graveyard of the Fireflies (Didn't cry either); Princess Mononoke and own both Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle.

Since I wasn't allowed to go see Howl's Moving Castle when it first came out, my sister (who worked at the library) was kind enough to bring me home the book to read. I loved it!

Then the day HMC came out on dvd my mom was such a kind person and bought it for me. I love it too! Christan Bale did an excellent job as Howl. It allows me to read the book if I want and not think, 'oh, I can just watch the movie and get it done all the quicker.' That takes the fun out of reading it. The only thing I wasn't happy about was the fact that when we had to do a reading project for english, we couldn't choose a book that had already been made into a movie, so I couldn't read the book. It's my number one favorite book of all time.

But the movie is so different from the book!
