I saw Dir en Grey in concert a few weeks ago. I only knew a couple of their songs, but they put on such a great show, even if they only played for a little while. I took my buddy for his birthday to the club in Providence where they were playing.
None of us are really too much into "screamo" but they have a nice mix of material and so far most of what i've heard isn't too bad. Plus, the singer has a great voice!

Diru is probably my second favorite japanese band of all time. My friend introduced me to them 5 years ago, and I've been hooked ever since.
I finally got to see them Feb 07 in Orlando and it was amazing. Throughout the entire time they played The Final I was all goosebumps. Kyo also seemingly, practically had an orgasm on stage. Hot.
My favorite album is Withering to Death. I like some of their VK stuff, like Yokan, Mitsu to Tsuba and KR Cube, but it's not my favorite. =p
I don't mind that they're getting big in the west now. It makes it easier for me to support them buy buying their albums and going to their concerts. Not to mention if they hadn't recieved recognition over here I probably would never have been able to see them in concert.

I am starting to like them. It took me a few songs. I would read people say Kyo has a great voice, and he is there favorite singer, so I had to check them out. It took me a bit to find a song with him singing not screaming. He does have a great voice, he is not my favorite singer. Ruki is my favorite. Right now I would not want to see them in concert. I think some of the stuff Kyo does would make me sick. As for translation of songs, you find a lot good songs translated boring, and probably stupid. It is probably the same with them. Liking an English song translating it to Japanese and it is boring and stupid. It is not just Japanese songs. I have a friend that talks about this Spanish song that he really likes, some one translated it and it was about a guy and his cow.
