*hugs you all!!* cheese_whine Oooh look, new emoticons!!
I did have a great time! I wasn't supposed to return until late yesterday evening, but since Jason and I were separated for the second week as he had to return to work, we just couldn't wait to see each other, and he decided to sacrifice sleep to come pick up Jade and me in Albuquerque Sunday night when we arrived.
I spent yesterday catching up with neo news (am glad to see we can re-pick teams for the Altador Cup, although I'll only be able to play in the final match-up!), and today I'll spend catching up here!
When we arrived in Asheville, NC (near the Tennessee Border), we spent the night with Jason's aunt and uncle there and then the next day went to the Biltmore House which George Vanderbilt had made for himself in 1892:
(click pics for site links)
(This is not my picture, but I will try to upload some of my photos/videos when Jason can help me!)
It's the largest home in America, and I really soaked it all in, touring the finely furnished rooms, imagining myself as a guest there, or even as a scullery maid 4laugh , and then eating lunch in what used to be the huge horse stables (each stall had been turned into a booth!)
Then we drove the remaining 6 hours to Carolina Beach, stayed the night in a hotel with Jason's brother Jared and his family, as they had also headed out early like we did, but they spent their time in Charlotte, and then Monday we all checked into the Atlantic Towers beachside condos with the rest of Jason's huge family (33 people, not including one brother and one sister who stayed behind. We needed 4 2-bedroom condos in all.)

Every day we'd wake up relatively early, eat breakfast, get sunscreened up, and head down to the beach for the day. In the late afternoon some of us would go to the indoor pool for a couple hours, and then we'd all go up to our rooms, shower, and get ready for dinner. Sometimes Jason, Jade, and I went out to a seafood restaurant or something by ourselves, and other times we'd all go together with the others. And one of those days we all drove our cars onto a ferry at Ft. Fisher at the end of the island on which Carolina Beach is situated, although it took quite a drive back from the ending destination! Oh, I forgot, Monday morning we also visited the Ft. Fisher aquarium before the rest of Jason's family had shown up from their road trip.
Then, the second weekend, Jason drove home to be back here for work, and the rest of us went together to the Majestic Mountains Creekside Getaway in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee where we rented an 8-bedroom, 8-bathroom cabin by a little creek.

Jade and I had a bedroom to ourselves, and it was really relaxing there, sitting on the screen-in back porch, or watching the kids play in the creek, or sitting in the hot tub, or one of the jacuzzi bathtubs that each bathroom had! The upstairs had a pool table, ping-pong, foosball, and air-hockey, and a big plasma tv with a playstation on it. The only downside was the lack of water pressure due to it being well-water that all the cabins shared, and when people moved into the cabin next door, the water pressure really dropped, and sometimes we couldn't even run the water for a few hours. But that's not stopping us from going again next year!!
On the way back, we stopped at a mall in Memphis. I thought of Lisa (tangodanser) the whole time, and wondered if she'd frequented the same mall. Jason's mom took Jade with her and said I could shop alone (quicker that way), and since I was by myself, I asked Lisa to go with me and keep me safe. 3nodding
I'll share some of my photos after Jason uploads them to the computer, and if I can figure out how to share a couple videos I took with our digital camera (our camcorder broke while we were at the beach!) I will do that because I got video of Jade finally being able to tread water all the way across the pool, which she didn't learn how to do until the last few minutes of our very last day at the pool! But I'm so proud of her!

Very nice family you have there. I must say I never realized that Jason has long hair. Not that it's a bad thing because I'm actually jealous since it's wavy and mine is poker straight.

And his is naturally curly like his mom's, and a few of his sisters'. He usually keeps it tied back in a ponytail. I can't remember if there are any pics on there that show the full length of his hair or not!
