"Okay!" agreed Darsais, following her "cousin." She followed him across the field and paused to look back at the adults.
"Daichi, why are we all the way over here? Who is that?" she inquired, borderline nosy. "He seemed like he knew you."

"Hmm, good question, love." Darrion quiped, a bit of sarcasim snaking through his words as he did. It was rare, but in a way he was feeling brutally honost. He loved Nauticah, that was clear, and that extended to Daichi by default. But at the same time, her anger over his absence was, in his mind, unfair. He wasn't asked, nor given time to prepare, to become a father. His life was hecktic and unplanned for the most part.
Added to the fact he was new to this entire 'fatherhood' thing, he failed to meet expectations time and time again, it seemed.
"Sorry I'm late."

"Late for what?" Nauticah sneered back, her arms crossed tightly under her bosom as she glared at him over her shades. Daichi could feel the cold shivers from across the yard.
"It's... Darrion. Mom's boyfriend... My dad, he isn't around much... He tries, I know. He loves me, and loves Mom... He just isn't here much." Daichi replied to his 'cousin', and then forced a smile. "He's nice... But I think he's in trouble."

"Exactly, Nauti, for what indeed." he said, honost again lacing through his words as he did. He stepped foreward, and sighed heavly. "You know I need a new line of work."

"I could have told you that a while ago, hun..." Nauticah sighed, and then she tossed her arms around him. "I missed you. Daichi missed you... Please stay home...please..."
Daichi turned, his ears catching his mother's plea. He smiled slightly. "Mom loves Dad too...and so do I."

Silverah, not wanting to intrude on what seemed to be a private conversation, quietly backed away.
"I don't have a dad," Darsais said with a shrug. "I think I'm doing okay. What's he do?"

Daichi turned to Darsais, then back to his Dad, then back to her. "I...don't know. He's just away a lot..."
At that moment, a ghostly pale woman appeared next to Silverah. She had long, silvery hair, and she was strangely blindfolded. A gwee flew in front of her, turning about for a moment, and then taking rest on her shoulder. The woman was in a bluish white dress that rumpled up all over, and was sleeveless. She wore long, fingerless white gloves, and strangely, ballet-like slippers which seemed to be lacking the stiffness and the trademark hard toe-box of traditional ballet slippers. She placed her hand on Silverah's shoulder, and smiled.
"Hello Silverah, remember me?" The woman did not turn to her when she greeted Silverah.

Silverah jumped about five feet in the air. (give or take a few feet. Who's counting?) "God, Spice," she gasped, "Give me a heart attack while you're at it."
The situation between Nauti and Darien seemed rather tense, and now the Spice was here she was getting the feeling she'd best butt out of family matters. "I"m sorry, but I just remembered I have an appointment to keep. I'll see you guys around." She waved and called for Darsais. The little girl bade Daichi goodbye and joined her 'mother' and the pair left the scene.

Spice sighed, "I didn't mean to..." But she could tell Silverah had already left. She drifted over to Nauticah, and smiled lightly. Daichi heard Silverah call the mysterious woman 'Spice', but he had no idea who she was. Before Darsais left, he waved goodbye to her.
"Spicy?" his mother turned to the pale woman in white, and beamed. "Spicy!"
"I think I scared your friend..." She said with her light voice. "I didn't mean to."
"Eh, it's okay. Silv needs a good scare everyso often." Nauticah replied as she hugged Spice. Daichi raced over to his mother and clung to her leg; the pale woman gave him the creeps. Why was it that she had her eyes blindfolded?
"Daichi...this is Spice, your cousin."
That blindfolded lady is my COUSIN?! I liked Silverah and Darsais better... Daichi thought as his eyes grew wide. He clung onto his mother's leg even tighter.

"Ah, Spice. Haven't seen you in awhile." Darrion said, clearly missing the perhaps political incorrectness of the statement as he mulled over job options in his thick skull. He almost tilted his head as he saw the blindfold, wondering just what had happened. Meanwhile, the faithful little furball known as Trawz trotted along, taking a seat next to Darrion and panting cutely from his puppy adventures.

Spice turned to Darrion, and took a moment to remember the voice. Darrion's, Nauticah's little wandering boyfriend... The serious boyfriend. Ah, yes. That's his voice. "Long time since I seen you as well, Darrion. Have you been taking care of my dear cousin?"
Nauticah hung her head. "Spice--"
"No, no," Spice interrupted, "it's quite alright. Just a query." She smiled everso lightly, and turned to the light crunch of grass which were Zwart and Gwyn's paws heading her way. "I hear you two..."
"Gah! She's good." Zwart commented.
"Yes, her hearing has increased by twenty percent since we last tried this... One of these days she'll hear us breathe and know we're there." Gwyn added.
Daichi was simply pleased she hadn't spoke to him yet.

"Keen, alright. Very nicely done. And... not as good as I should be, but better from now on." Darrion said, rubbing the back of his neck and chuckling slightly as he did. He'd become more focused upon the conversation instead of mulling around in his head, choosing to find a full time job closer to home soon, if not this instant. He smiled as his eyes drifted to Daichi and Nauti, warming his heart. He truely did love his family, as awkward as things could get.
Trawz trotted around the newcomer Spice, sniffing her lightly and continueing to investigate with an innate puppy curiosity.
