Gone(Journal RP) (Keep in mind this is backlogged to have happened in December.)
One of the rules of life was that very little ever stayed the same. It was a rather true rule. One that everyone learned with time. Sadly, you didn't learn it until you were older. So coping with change wasn't something the child had yet adjusted to.
The most recent change that was notable was that someone who had made it their business to put her first was gone. The person was familiar and now she couldn't find them. She'd ever taken the initiative to try and roam the large house in search of the feline. Never in any room she made it too before she was brought back to a suitable location. Suitable by they're standards anyway. She wanted her brother, it didn't seem right not to see him. Not right at all.
Right and wrong were a concept that people quickly drilled into your head. The 'NO' meant stop because you get lightly thwaped on the head. The 'good' meant you were being praised. You got a pat on the head for that. Maybe a cuddle. Both were positive things that made a person feel loved. She certainly went out of her way to achieve the good rather than the no, save for with this case. This was special. Good meant giving up on trying to figure out where Keanu was hiding, for that was what it had to be. A game of some sort. She just needed to find him... so why didn't they let her? It had been a few days now and she still couldn't find him. Not at all...
So once again she was stuck in the den with only a few toys to amuse her. Two of her recent favourites, perhaps for the fact they came in a set of two. A tiny one, and a larger one. She probably didn't realize all that much why they had become her favourite. Before she'd like the white frilly one. Or the one with long hair like her brother. Now it was these two she usually clung to as they took her out to play. Of course, even if she didn't realize, the subconcious was a rather strong thing. Being lonely meant a need for further companionship as well as representation. For a child who didn't speak yet it was natural to find another way to communicate.
What better way to say she wanted someone else than with a set of plushies. For often the girl spoke through touch and quiet actions rather than noise. The only problem was that such things were often overlooked. Raja had been far too distracted lately with coping in his own way to realize that Shaeria might be upset. Most of the others simply believed she was too young to realize anyone was missing. Overlooked and cast aside.
What was a child to do when someone was just gone?

Holidays Are Bad(Journal RP) (Keep in mind this is backlogged to have happened in December.)
The girl's fingers tugged softly at the silken red dress of her current doll. Noisy, noisy, busy, busy. Everyone was running around getting ready for something. Even the white thing was back. Ymir, they called it Ymir. It was her brother's friend. Why had it come back, but he not?
And what was everyone doing?
Something about gifts and toys. A holiday had been mentioned once or twice. But what was a holiday? Was that why her brother was missing? Was he getting things ready for this event of sorts that everyone was working on. She nestled her face down against the soft velvet of the rabbits ear's sulkingly. She didn't like holidays if it meant people went away for a while all the time. She didn't like them at all. She'd prefere to have people there, together again. Because being together was what mattered most, right?
She... didn't want to see anyone gone.
"Hoip! Almost got run over there, Shae!" A cheery voice that belonged to Isaac. The man had plucked her up just before Lyneas ran through the area she'd been in previous shoving a box along. Definitely not good to get run over.
The girl glanced up at the ever cheery face cluelessly before managing a smile. Moods were really very contagious with her. IF someone else was overly happy she felt a need to be, though it meant she also felt bad. Now, even with her missing the person who still wasn't home she couldn't help, but smile as she was swung lightly before being deposited safely on the couch. And off he went again with a light step to complete some task. With him went the joy and once more that melancholy set in.
Holidays were bad. They made people go away without reason. She tugged the rabbit closer again, fingers etching into the fabric. She hoped they never came again... losing anyone was bad.

Christmas Is Supposed To Be Fun(Journal RP) (Keep in mind this is backlogged to have happened in December.)
All that hustle abd bustle about this Christmas thing had finally come to an end. Sort of. The child pouted slightly, having already been placed in a frilly dress. Nothing too out of the normal save for the fact that the colors were red and white rather thant he usual varying degrees of purple. Her had been curled and little ribbons tied in it rather than simply pulled up too. Which was odd as well, but nothing she worried over. Worrying didn't make much sense, seeing as the general feel of joy made it hard to keep her mind on it.
Most of the household members had given up on the gloom that quietly lurked among some of the older residents. At least for the night. It was almost like a warm glow surrounded the room to keep out the chilld of the snowy wonderland outside. Not that it changed the fact a family member was still missing. The child hadn't yet finished dwelling on that bit. She had a large family to keep up with, but when someone you saw everyday for most of your life, especially a short one, dissapears you find it hard to forget that they aren't around. But that had to do with this holiday thing so maybe he'd show up soon. It was the most she could assume.
Aside from the unusual dress and that fact that most of the household was happily gathered in the den, which was a rare sight to see and a cramped one, the girl had her common place item. A plushie. This time it was the one she liked mainly for the fact it had longhair that was tied back. The thing was blond like her father too, which gave it a sense of familiarity. So it was a rather popular toy for her to carry around. She was clutching onto the thing with her early Christmas gift dozing next to her on the couch.
The pale ghostlike creature had ended up with the girl mainly due to the fact that Raja had finally noticed how lonely she looked. Thus, due to the similarities of being sort of... deadish? Or whatever the reason had been, Nahimana, as the creature had been named, belonged to Shaeria. The pair got along well enough, seeing as the pup was fairly laid back. It tended to phase in and out of existance a bit, but always let the infant touch it. A bit of proof of their bonding perhaps, or something the fact that being on a closer size scale made the caninelike creature trust her more. Needless to say the young female was more than willing to just nap next to the child and be a warm comfort. Certainly it had about as much of a clue of what was going on as the gelfling, so it had a similar amount of interest. At least until people started walking up.
Both child and the trast lifted their heads as the official 'hander outer,' as the title had been labeled, marched up. Tsuya beamed slightly as he held out the medium sized box to the child only to receive a puzzled look. What was she going to do with a box? Then again... didn't people jump out of boxes like this on the tv? Was that where her brother had been hiding? That would certainly explain why it was being held out to her. So the trick was opening it, but she could do that, her hands worked well enough, despite the fact some people might have thought them deformed due to the missing finger.
Upon the box being set down she quickly tried tugging at the ribbon on it. Unlike the television boxes it didn't come loose. A frown of confusion and further tugging. Finally it began to give way and she managed to tug the thing off. A few more yanks using about as much force as she could muster and she managed to tug the thing off.
The lid didn't suddenly pop up like usual in TV either. Well sometimes you had to open the lid. She put her palm along the edge of the box and shoved up on it expecting a laugh or something at the silly joke. Instead she got a squeak from the contents of the box. Well a mixture of a chirp and a squeak.
It wasn't the familiar set of blue eyes they were looking up at her, but two sets of golden ones. Then another noise and a muffled scratching before one of the sets jumped up and two small arms cause the side of the box as the thing tried to claw it's way out. It looked remarkably like the doll she'd set aside to try and open the box, no... far too much like it. It was a bit eery, but that wasn't why the girl gave a slight shriek. It was surprise as she fell back, landing partially on Nahimana. The pup had sort of ducked behind the girl when Tsuya popped over, so it was sort of pinned down by the infants weight.
What on earth was that!?
It had horns and then wings and... then another head popped up and a few curious squeaks as both creatures managed to crawl out of the box and land on the couch. They looked somewhat similar, both having gold hair and eyes. Black clothing with different colored jackets. Actually... they sort of reminded her of Ymir... so maybe they were the same thing? Just a lot younger. That made sense... except for the fact that they'd been given to her. Why did she get these? They weren't her brother.
She really didn't like these holiday things.

A Visit(Journal RP) (Keep in mind this is backlogged to have happened in January.)
She was still rather miffed about the box thing. Even if the two creatures were rather friendly and fun to have around. Both of the small dragons were currenting resting in her arms as she was carried along.
Visit... the word visit kept coming up. So she was going somewhere to do this visit thing. The girl wasn't exactly sure what it was all about, but they'd gone to be big building with lots of people coming and going. Many of them in white coats like her father's before he went to work. Was this were he worked? It didn't make sense though, daddy wasn't wearing his coat. In fact he seemed a bit happy, Ymir was walking along with them too. If there was one thing Shaeria had noticed, it was that Ymir was a bucket of mope usually. She'd come to realize she always felt bad around the creature lately. So the fact that it wasn't bothering her didn't seem to make sense.
Yes, the mood was light and chipper. Usually there was an undertone of sadness that she picked up, but instead it was rather happy. With a momentary pang of annoyance as her father passed someone in the hall. A glare directed at them in passing then it was gone again. Into the box thing and the sensation of movement left the infant a bit off balance. Once more coming to a halt and she wa sbeing carried down a hall. "Almost there." Was called out in a sing-song voice that most men would have given up their manhood had they used it. Not that any of the people present cared. A few more echoing steps down the hall before the man shifted the child in his arms and used his now free hand to open the door before them.
No sooner was the thing opened just a crack before Ymir shoved it open the rest of the way and walked in quietly. Not the most like the dragon, but the hybrid wasn't prone to really listening to anyone save for Keanu. So it was only logical that he'd pay the feline no need when going into that room. Not that Shae unstood at the time. "Eager aren't you... just don't go waking anyone up." 'Because patients need their rest.' Or whatever it was those crazy doctors kept telling him.
The man sighed and walked in a moment after the dragon, passing the first two beds in silence quite thankful that the occupants weren't awake. Dealing with his own son was enough. Though he had to wonder if Paxton had woken up yet... there hadn't been much said. He rubbed his head with one hand before catching Edo as he attempted to take off. "Behave."
"Da' they're out cold. They won't wake up." The voice was less than cheerful, even if the owner was sitting up and head to head with his partner.
Shaeria hadn't yet spotted where it came from, as she'd been busy starring at a brightly coloured winged thing. Though she quickly recognized the voice and eyed at direction only a moment before spotting why Ymir had been eager. He didn't look quite himself, but it was obviously her brother. Which did earn a happy squeal of delight from the previously silent infant. Along with one hand reaching out. She hadn't seen her brother in a long, long time. Well a month, but to her that seemed like eternity, seeing as she was barely three months old? If even that. She'd about thought he'd just dissapeared or gone to one of those far away land and forgotten how to get back. Like in the cartoons she saw on television. So the fact he was back and seemingly well did excite the young girl.
The leopard blinked and glanced up at the noise, previously having thought that only his father and Ymir had come to visit. Obviously proven wrong at the sight of not one, but three things in the man's arms. Only one was familiar though. "Shaeria!" He shifted to better right himself, wincing a bit in the process. There was a reason they hadn't let him out yet obviously. Though he quickly held out both hands expectantly, but was left empty handed.
"Didn't they tell you not to get up." The voice was less than amused and met with an equally annoyed look. "They didn't even want me to come visit, you should as least do as they ask when I visit or they'll tell me it's unhealthy for you." Obviously the man's opinion of the place wasn't very high, but at the same time he didn't want his son causing himself more damage. "They're just worried you'll reopen something that's trying to heal." He didn't move to offer over the infant in the least, which did somewhat aggrivate the child. Possibly the fact that both of the two in the room were having a moment of odds didn't help with that either.
"I'm fine, they just worry too much." The usual reply as Keanu leaned his chin on one hand, assuming this lecture was going to take a while. The dragon beside him laid down as well. They both knew what it was to be a captive audience to one of Raja's speeches.
"Keanu..." They could practically hear the man's teeth grinding as he said it, obviously displeased. Though before he could start up further quiet whine from the young girl hushed him momentarily. Long enough for a change of subject.
"So, what are their names?" The question was directed more to Shaeria than Raja, but the girl wasn't speaking yet. Not that Keanu would know, he was sort of testing to see. All he got for the effort was a happy smile at the attention and petting the creatures on the head. Both of which had given up escaping after the previous halting that Edo received before.
"The one in red is Edo, and the one in blue is Aru. Shae got them for Christmas." The man finally gave up in fighting with his teenage son and handed over the boy's younger sister carefully so that neither dragon would escape in the process. Which seemed to please both children.
A moment later the infant was situated comfortably on her brothers lap and lifting up Aru to let her brother see. Edo had given a bit of a hiss in the feline's direction so it was sort of decided to leave him be with the young gelfling.
All was well enough. Raja was still teeved that Keanu was sitting up and not resting like he was supposed to. Edo was huffing at anything living that came near him and wasn't the infant. And Keanu was introduced to Aru much to Shaeria's pleasure. Seeing as the leopard got along with one of the two friends she'd made was quite pleasing.
Of course that fun didn't last as long as one would have hoped. It had barely been fifteen minutes before a nurse popped in and mentioned something about rest and having a slight heart attack that, of course, Keanu was sitting up again. Not to mention the fact he had a child on his lap and a small dragon crawling up his arm. None of this was proper for visits with someone who'd nearly died a month ago.
Needless to say Raja was shoo'd out by the woman within a few minutes. A few quick goodbyes and they were sent packing. Alas, such were hospital rules. Part of why the man hated this place. They were so very uptight and strict. Still, it was about time to be off and at least they'd let Ymir stay for the night again, that'd keep Keanu happier. And Shaeria seemed to be practically humming over having seen her brother, if not a bit miffed from when the nurse had managed to snatch her up. Not before Edo had managed to leave a nice set of nips on her hand though.
Still, brother wasn't gone for good obviously. And these visit things were quite nice.

Mommy(Journal Entry: Raja) (Keep in mind this is backlogged to have happened in January.)
Journal buddy, you know how eventually you just kind of lose your mind one day. I mean yea, little kids have odd effects on you. You're sitting there totally ok with the world. I mean, it makes sense in it's surreal way. Then you start babbling in kid talk to the kid like you think they get it. It's supposed to be good for them and all, but it's really dumb. Least when you look back at it.
I mean you're saying stuff like... 'Sky is blue. Kitty is soft. Your brother is a suicidal moron.' Ok, maybe not the last one, but you get the idea. Keanu's still an idiot though. God I hope that doesn't rub off on the kids... Anyway. So you start saying the dumbest stuff. It's how things are, but then there's that slight speck of home... just sometimes maybe. And that's what it was today.
So I'm spitting out total nonsense at Shaeria today. She was on the coach of course, being cute like babies are. I have told you about her? Of course I have. Anyway. Back to the story. So she's sort of watching tv and I'm babbling to her while working on things next to her. Paperwork junk. It's rather obnoxious, I don't know WHY I need it. Again, back to the topic...
So something makes me decide to ask a question today. As if she'd reply, but anyway. I asked her 'Who am I?' Now that's normal and all, in an odd way. The fun and interesting bit is that she replied. Especially with what she decided to say. "Mommy." Yes, I'm mommy. Well... kinda sorta... I don't think she understands genders well, but I swear that garble was clearly a mommy. Not so well said, but but... you know.
Maybe it's just that proud parent in me wanting it to be that, but I SWEAR it was her saying I'm mommy. Now to just explain that... mommy is a daddy. Well that's for another day. For now I'm her mommy, even if I'm a daddy. Oh... forget it. Be happy for me journal... I think she's starting to grow up. Let's just hope she still likes the ribbons.
A footnote has been scribbled in at the bottom: Dear journal... I am sorry to say that apparently me being mommy doesn't matter much. Ikurai receive the same honor. I will certainly need to clarify this issue...

How Useless(Private Roleplay)
(Reserved for transcription of RP with Tenoh Aiko)Tenoh Aiko Damnit... damn that woman.
Nigel stewed all the way to Barton Town. He opted not to take the train that connected his home town of Durem to the smaller town. He was too mad and needed time to himself. Usually, he would have gone to see if he could find Ana, but he'd decided he didn't want his girlfriend worrying about him, let alone see him in a rather angry state.
He had found it this wand shoppe's location from Elysia. The Aeriment looked a little worried when he asked, but she'd told him anyway. Besides, if she hadn't told him, he would find out one way or another. He wanted to go to this shoppe that woman had spoken of and give them a visit of sorts. Who were these people just... pawning children off on stupid, unsuspecting people like Aiko?
He was rather, well, surprised when he came across a destroyed, demolished building.
...
Damn. What now?(( Nigel, by the way:

Something like six foot five. XD! Taaaaaaall guy. )) Raja Sometimes it was best to call in. Sort of. Not that Raja liked that Ianna women, or ever respected her. So what if what she'd said was true, which left him worried about that other comment, he didn't like her. The very idea of it... just giving someone a kid. What if he'd really just wanted a normal wand for magic, not that it had been the case, but what if?
It wasn't to say the man disliked the child who was half dozing on his shoulder, the delicate wings folded over the pale lavender fabric of her dress. Her hair was done up with a few ribbons hanging under where the braids were curled around the majority of her hair. A perfect little appearance that the man had spent much of the morning making just right. Not that Raja was some sort of perfectionist, it was just a distraction from life... in a way. Life was always so troublesome. Coming to bother you when you had other things to do. Other things to worry about.
Shaeria had onlyjust appeared it seemed, then Keanu had done something stupid. There was a lot to think about though, not just that. The holidays had hit like a storm, that was all that could be said. They'd hit, stuck, and done their best to leave the man baffled. Which was why the check up had taken so long to happen. Three months? Something like that.
But well... life wasn't done.
The infants pale eyes had opened slightly as they drew closer to where the shop would have existed a frown drawing across the girl's face until it tweaked into a sniffle of a whine. The young girl didn't know why, but something scared her... something she couldn't quite place. It was only getting worse by the moment and finally peaked as they turned the corner and the shop became visable. Or what was left of the shop anyway.
"Holy h-" Amber eyes widened as he starred at the empty space before taking a few more steps to see if maybe... he was just to far to see it right? Nope... still broken. Still missing. When had that happened?
It was the loud wail that likely stated their arrival more than Raja's somewhat breathless utterance. She hated it here, she hated it. The place felt wrong, bad... something wasn't right here. But understanding that wasn't something the infant could quite place, so she tried to commmunicate it in the most obvious way. A loud cry that was hushed after the initial noise. Not by any means of the parent by the child's nature, there was no reason for prolonging the noise. None... So only a quiet whimpering proved it hadn't been a simple whim.
It was enough though, at least to snap the man out of his brief shock. Quickly shifting the gelfling to tug the blanket he'd brought her in closer around her and trying to comfort the young girl. What could have happened..? With everything. The shop... and why was Shaeria crying? "Shh... it's ok, shh..." Tenoh Aiko Hands shoved in his pockets, the tall man turned around just enough to give the two behind him a half glance with crystaline blue eyes. Children screaming... how he hated that sound. Back home, there was always one kid screaming or the other. He was hoping that soon, it would end as Aiko wouldn't end up with any more kids.
And now this wand business...
Turning back around, he continued glaring at the debris with narrowed eyes.
"This was a shop of some sort, was it not?" He asked, his low voice in a monotone. "For wands, right?" Raja It wasn't as if Raja enjoyed hearing children cry. Far from it, his hearing wasn't as good as say... Keanus, but it wasn't as bad as humans. The screech always gave him the idea that he'd be deaf someday. So it could have been worse? No one really liked it, did that? It was just that they made due until it passed. And swore never to ever pick up something on the ground again. No matter how tempting it might be.
Eh? Oh the guy had asked a question. He sounded like Haru with that silly 'I'm going to be emotionless' thing. Talking like that wasn't normal. Not in the least. Not that it was his business, or problem. He had enough to worry around really. "Yea... Some crazy nut named Ianna ran it, said that kiddies came from sticks." He carefully shifted the child in his arms still silently trying to stop the whimpering. "I was coming by to tell her that the stick decided it was tired of being a ghosty puff that made people think I was a druggy." It really had been akward getting all those odd looks when he talked to a little ghost thing on the wand. Mind you, it seemed to like the conversation, but that wasn't the point. Talking to Ghosty Shae had earned him the title of druggy that was high on crack. So he was actually rather thankful it was all over.
Now then, back out of the wonderful world of memories onto the subject of the guy. Why was he here looking for the shop? Maybe he knew something? A few quick steps forward as curiosity once more proved to get the better of the man. "Soo... did that woman chuck a stick at you too?" Not that they were all bad, but it just went to prove that Ianna loved tormenting people who shouldn't be parents. "Cause I wouldn't be surprised if-" And then he realized something. Being a bit further away had hidden it, but when he was closer it became rather obvious, especially when he was craning his head up to try and have a conversation. "Jeezus you're tall..." That couldn't be normal. What was he? A foot taller than him!?
(Raja is 5"10' just for reference.) Tenoh Aiko Normal, perhaps, for people who weren't Nigel. He had the look of someone who would deny having much, if any feelings. The goth sub-culture was just odd like that. While he wasn't completely devoid of any emotion (hell, the man had a caring girlfriend he turned to puddy around -- not that the other would know that), he wasn't about to show much, if any, in front of anyone he didn't know, especially someone that, as far as he knew, was nameless. Of course, everyone had a name, but as far as Nigel knew...
A green eyebrow lifted slightly. Already, he was liking the sound of this man's opinions on the entire situation: very similar to his own. And then he made the usual startled noises that most people made around him when they realized just how tall he was. Nigel smirked.
"Only a little tall, I've been told." And as soon as the smirk appeared, it was gone again. "Ianna, was it? Not me. The head of the house hold I've seem to become a part of." His nose wrinkled slightly in disgust, and he snorted. "Without asking much of that woman's position on being able to take in more children." It was more than clear he wasn't very happy about the situation. Raja Tall in the eye's of the man didn't mean much. He'd had... height issues... at one time. So he tended to exagerate a bit on the subject. Alas, the point remained. The guy was obnoxiously tall in his opinion. Which didn't sit the best with him, but there wasn't much to be done. The comment didn't help... but it gave him a reason to scowl a bit at the whole situation. At least until the obvious disdain for the woman came out.
Common ground was good, very good indeed. It did sweeten the previously somewhat sour mood quite a bit. "Of course she doesn't ask. She just says you're chosen and that's that." Which was more or less the case he'd been given. "Do you think I was in any position to take care of a baby?" He didn't need to explain, or felt he did. Certainly this man didn't know about the whole situation that was Raja's household, but he didn't need to. One word could sum up most of the trouble that could come of that house. Reikuri. No kid should live within three miles of that thing and yet the house could be called a kiddy daycare.
Not to say he'd have given the kids away if someone asked. Heavens no. Once the feline took something in as his own kin he was far to protective of the child, if not a bit moody about it. The thing was that he should never have ended up with the children in the first place. Seriously... something must have written 'I LIKE KIDS!' on his back in invisable ink with the luck he'd had. Maybe with the sidenote that he liked odd kids. Shaeria was normal compared to some of them. Like... Lyneas. Three fingers instead of four, wings... that was nothing compared to the perplexing ideas that the odd girl spouted on a daily basis. No not daily, minute... there was never a minute without some babble of her friends, the aliens, or something else he didn't care to think about. She took the cake for oddest ideas. That was for sure.
"Then again, seems like she's no different than a lot of people around here." A quick pat on the back for the child as she hiccupped slightly. "No one seems to care if you want a child. It's all fate this, fate that." He sighed, head slumping a bit. "Or just plain blackmail..." Oh yes... that had been fun to find out with D-Corp. They didn't take no for an answer. Tenoh Aiko Nigel shrugged. How would he know if the other man was in any position to take care of children? He didn't even know his name.
If he wasn't able to take no for an answer when it came to kids, perhaps he would get along just fine with Aiko. She would never in a million years turn a living being away when it obviously needed her help and was unable to go anywhere else. It's how he ended up with her, how more or less everything and everyone in her family ended up with her. 'They where wayward souls that were brought to me to take care of,' she had told him once. 'Who am I to turn them away?'
Of course, they had quickly run into the problem of running out of places to house children. Ten rooms were currently needed to keep the members of the family happy. They had six. He didn't even want to think about the problems they had with having enough bathrooms to go around...
"Sounds about right." He snorted. Turning to the two, he sized (no pun intended) them up quickly with a few glances, then nodded politely. "The name's Nigel Agrippa. I, ah, live in the same household as Tenoh Aiko, who's come into the posession of a harpy wand." Raja Well of course not, it was a rather rhetorical question. Or perhaps just the man's slight ego boasting. Because everyone should know about his problems right? Alas, such was not the case. At least that wasn't the problem to be a problem in the conversation. They both had an obvious disdain for a certain woman and it was to be a good day when he could rant about his woes.
Even if she had dumped a little sweetheart in his lap. Mind you, that didn't take into account the months of wand totage it had taken, but she was well behaved enough. Hopefully one of the other children didn't ruin that with time.
As for space issues. He knew that all too well. H'd actually spent a bit of time staying with Naito while there wa sa remodel. He hadn't really bothered to ask, seeing a smost hotels had a no dragon policy or had something against ill mannered harpy children... well... yea. Best to stay with the long time best friend. Besides, didn't Naito owe him for that time Paxton tried to traumatize Keanu? Needless to say the remodel had been in order, but that time staying at Naito's was a nightmare. At least everyone had a room of their own now. Or only shared with someone they wanted to. Such as the twins' case.
He nodded. It was right. This place was downright backwards. Everything from kids coming out of sticks to someone shoving a child in your arms. You just didn't get to avoid it usually.
"Nice to meet you Nigel. I'm Raja, and this is Shaeria. Shae for short. She's uh... well the kid I ended up with." Least they knew that Ianna woman wasn't a nutso? But then it hit... harpy wand. Oh gods...
A little smile curled on his lips as he realized what trouble that family might be in for. "Harpy huh... good luck with that." If the kid was anything like Arianna, ANTHING like her... they were going to regret the day they met Ianna forever. "Oh yes... good luck with that."

Edo and Aru(Journal RP)
One wing lifted, the other other, then down, up, down, and both where released. The child smiled a bit at the sight of the dragon, who merely chirped quietly in response, wiggling it's now free wings a bit before laying them back into position where it was napping. Currently the two dragons delicate little outfits where off, allowing them more movement, which was obviously appreciated by the one buzzing about the room. That, was Edo, the more hyper of the two, which was more than happy to land on the dressing and squeak triumphantly as if it owned the world.
The other? Well Aru had been dozing on the floor, occasionally giving a quiet response to the other dragon before tending to the child who had been attempting to deem of the two where dolls, or pets. Seeing as neither ever really protested much she did, aside from Edo who'd run and hide out of reach. Both where well behaved enough not to n** her at least, which was for the best. Even if she was nice enough to forgive the action.
The child gave the one before her a light pat the head before shifting to crawl along the carpeted floor a few paces over toward her other dolls, obviously deeming it nap time for that one. Which drew the attention of both, seeing as the girl was the only moving object in the room aside from themselves. The result was Edo chirping a few times before darting down to land on the pale locks of the girl, and beginning to nibble at them a bit around the time she time she reached her red dressed rabbit doll. Which didn't garner much of a response from the child other than a quiet surprised noise that trailed off as she realized what was going on. Then an equally silent laugh and she was back to playing an imaginary game with the plush toy in hand, completely at ease with the creature on her head.
The game continued a while like that until the sound of footsteps, and the door to the room opening drew the trio's attention, waking one and rousing the other two from their actions. At the door was the usual father figure of sorts, and keeper of the house, pausing briefly at the scene before shrugging and walking in. "Lunch time, kiddo." He mumbled, walking over and reaching down to scoop up the kid, eyeing the dragon a moment as it gave the few strands in it's mouse a few more chews while watching him. "Oh, so that's what ya eat? Thought you were living off kitty kibble." He mumbled, shifting the child to one arm to attempt to get the little creature to release the hair, and earning a minor n** in the process. "...brat." He grumbled, eyeing the bite a moment before figuring that it was worthwhile as the thing wasn't chewing anymore. Then turning to head out down the hall as the second dragon got up to fly off after the man.

Title Pending(AIM PD) (Reserved For Finished PD with Xerksis) Quote: Xerksis didn't understand what the big deal was- to him, they were all just giant colorings hanging on the wall. One giant refridgerator, accept a lot less awesome. His patience for Nozami was slowly dwindling, though in his own little toddler way, he did commend the spider for toting along a backpack full of his favorite toys. That was mostly why he tolerated the artist- he was concerned with the Mindflayer's entertainment.
They were in one of the main amateur galleries, where talented young minds had hung their various pieces on the wall for display and possible sale. After a lengthy chat with the curator, the arachnid shifter was accomodating his own section of wall with a giant mural that had been hanging around in his room for a while.
Xerksis recalled being allowed to place paint on his fingers and smear them down the canvas at one point and tried looking for the spot while workers in the gallery carefully placed the mural on the wall under Nozami's instruction. The brunette stared through paint-streaked bangs at the workers, his brown eyes reluctant and wary. It was all he could do to calm himself by playing with his lip-ring by occassionally flicking his tongue over it. Every now and then, he'd glance over to Xerksis, who sat in the corner busily muttering nonsense to his two favorite plush toys. So long as the kid didn't get hurt or anything, he'd be in the clear with his own father for allowing him out to do his own errands rather than playing with Xerk. Quote: 'You need to get out more!' That was what the reason for the whole thing was. Because apparently his choosing to keep to his room wasn't healthy. The odd thing was that in all technicality that room was outside and constantly plagued with snow. So the entire argument was a bit... lacking in the point. Still, here he was carrying the infant with him out for the day. The first promising place he'd seen for a good safe walk to waste time had been a gallery, thus the feline demon had chosen that for the topic. It seemed to be working well enough, even with the one dragon constantly making him think that some piece of art was going to get clawmarks from his nearly crashlanding on it. Which seemed to be amusing the child in his arms greatly, well to some extent.
Shaeria was more than happy to stare at the colourful things while clinging to the blue jacketed dragon in her arms, and Aru was happy to comply to being held. It was Edo who couldn't make up his mind about if he was going to perch on Tsuya's shoulder, or fly. The dragon was barely five inches long , but had taken to 'mastering' flight as soon as possible. Where Aru was happy to sit back and learn slowly. The two dragons had little in common aside from liking the child, which had been imprinted on as being 'mommy' to en extent. Ironic that such a young child was already somethings parent, but wierder things had happened.
The walk was going rather easy with Shae sometimes making a pleased little noise at a particular piece and then moving on again. Until the teenager managed to blunder into a room after Edo. The dragon had been first in, darting around a corner after circling the blue haired boy's hair and then nearly colliding with a wall. Then swooping around and through a door. That had been how the pair came to be watching some men putting up a piece of art, a particularly large one.
Obviously they weren't supposed to be in here yet. The boy quickly glanced up to try and call back the dragon only to find it circling something that ws a bit out of place. A young child, a bit older than Shaeria, was sitting off to the side playing. It was only understable that the dragon would like younger people, seeing as it was always around the infant, but it was practically falling on the kid's head a few times in it's curiosity. What a bother, they would be getting into trouble at this rate.
The young gelfling was too busy watching the men fiddle with the huge canvas to notice her little friend's antics at first. The thing seemed huge, like... Ymir big, to her. And colorful. It was mainly the colours that had caught her attention, it was like when the family was together. Lots and lots of colours. And being together as a group was good, so the mural was quite pleasing to the young child, earning a large smile as she reached one hand out for the thing, the other still clutching the minute dragon in her arms. Quote: Every time the workers grunted, the brunette shifted with discomfort. His art! He'd worked for months on this glorious piece of art! Not that he thought it was beautiful now that it was being raised; just like every other artist he was seeing every flaw in his own work. Too late now, though he was rather proud for the time he'd put into it. There was regretably nothing more he could do to the mural so yes, it was ready. But these slobs... They'd better not drop it!
Preoccupied, the spider didn't notice the entrance of some onlookers. The toddler on the floor, however, did almost immediatly. It wasn't like Xerksis not to sense the presence of others, for his mind was open and very new, absorbing color and the occassional strand of knowledge however subconcious it may have been.
And really. How could he NOT notice something rather large buzzing about his head? Edo's jacket was like a banner, red and eye-catching to one who was currently fascinated by the sensation of color. The toys in his hands were easily forgotten as the dragon nearly fell on him, his alien yellow eyes gleaming as he took in the creature. How very new. How very... entertaining. Never before had the Mindflayer seen a dragon, and now he assumed to be able to study and experiment on it to his heart's content. The neck was far too long and those wings! It seemed like they'd come off pretty easily... Pale fingers of both hands reached out to snag at Edo, a sound of amusement bubbling forth from his lips. Quote: Big and pretty. That's what the painting was to her. Big pretty and colourful. Like... like... The infant's face scrunched as she attempted to liken the thing to something she knew. Like a box of crayons. She saw theother kids make colourful things with them, so they were good. Yes, it was like a box of crayons. Which made it good. And anything that was good was to be adored. Or at least until something more interesting showed up.
Aru wasn't nearly as distracted with the painting. The dragon had watched the other's antics with the child with mild interest. It didn't seem like the best of ideas, especially with the boy had reached out to catch him. Of course, that wasn't enough to ward off Edo. Oh no, he was used to younger people reaching out for him happily. That was normal, Shaeria would catch him all the time. It didn't mean he was going to flop over into a strange person's arms though. He managed a messy dodge, at least his body did. Perhaps it wasn't so wise to leave the dragons dressed in their darling outfits. The lightweight cloth certainly did trail after him and if Xerksis had any sense of aim he'd have caught it.
Tsuya frowned slightly as he watched the dragon. Didn't it have any common sense? It should have come back right away... what was it's name? "Edo, stop that." It was more of a worthless plea than a command, and the chances of the dragon listening were little to none. However, there was one main use to it. Shaeria's attention was caught and she quickly hunted for the location of Edo upon hearing his name. Which led her to an odd scene indeed. Quote: Trying to get away from him was it? The child was little detered by it, thinking it a game. A triumphant cry boomed forth as he managed to grab hold of the tail of that red coat. He did like to win. Edo was to be yanked down towards the boy, the hand not holding onto the clothes reachin out to grope out at whatever he could get, wanting to begin his exploration right away. In his excitement, he didn't think to be gentle. He was hardly ever gentle to begin with, not quite grasping the concept of it yet, unfortunately for the little dragon.
Hardly any attention was paid to the apparent owners of this dragon. What did they really matter at the moment? "C'mere..." He muttered at the creature, continuing to try and tug the poor thing closer, ever so curious and quite certain it would sit there nicely for him. Quote: Shaeria let out a little noise of protest as she saw the dragon yanked down out of the sky. Edo didn't look happy, not at all. What was the word you use when people were bad? She'd barely mastered that mommy thing that made Raja so happy, so the concept seemed so hard. Still, she had a new thing to reach for, this time far more frantically than her previous object of interest. For this time it wasn'tjust a pretty thing, but her friend. Her little friend who liked playing.
Even if the gelfling wasn't very loud in her protest, Edo made up for it. A rather loud mixture of a chirp and a squawk was emitted as he came to an abrupt halt as the fabric caught in the boy's hand. A moment as he hovered floating and then he was reeled in toward this stranger easily. Not that he was too worried it it, not at all. Recovering from the origionally lost composure he quickly hissed at the thing holding him. And tried to snap at it with the tiny little fangs he had. The dragon rarely listened to anyone, even his keeper, so why would he stand down and sit like a good boy. Especially when he didn't even understand the command given. Especially when the kid was hurting him.
From bad to worse, why couldn't a day go normally. Still, he had to go get the dragon, Shae was actually whining a bit. Which meant it was a big thing to her. A few quick steps brought him over toward the child. Kneeling down had him at the kids level in a moment, the problem was that before he got to say anything the infant was already babbling.
"Edo!" The title had been given since it was just the thing she'd managed to call the creature. It was simple enough she'd managed to blurt it out one day, though no one knew if it was really meant for the creature, it had stuck. So of course it was the first thing to escape her while she reached out to hopefully snatch the dragon. Not that she could quite reach him with the one outstretched arm. The other still craddled the rather bewildered looking Aru. But it was obvious who the dragon in question would rather be around.
Switching from snapping at the other boy he quickly made to escape for the outstretched arm, squeeking rather loudly as he did. Quote: At the squeaking and carry-ons, Nozami finally had to admit to himself that there was something else that probably required his attention. And when he turned, the artist was able to see just how much trouble Xerksis had made for himself in such a short amount of time. He watched as the little dragon managed to chomp into the boy's hand, and how the child's eyes suddenly widened. It was probably the first time the boy had ever experienced the sensation of pain, keeping in mind that Kyo had done very well to keep him sheltered and happy.
Confusion was in Xerksis for a moment, though his grip was almost a vice as far as toddler-strength went. He didn't know what this feeling was, but he did know the action was done with irritation. And that wasn't good, in his opinion- not even this neat little thing was going to be mean to him when he was just trying to look it over! The boy growled and gave the thing a reproachful shake, trying to snatch his hand back. When the girl got closer and began to call for the thing, however, his feelings quickly shifted.
Possessively, he yanked the dragon in an attempt to get it back in his vacinity, radiating anger and determination. "No." He told the girl firmly, pushing at her arm. "I'm looking."
"Xerksis!" Nozami hardly ever raised his voice. Even as a child, he was quiet and unmoved by anything; dispassionate. To hear the familar voice in such a tenor was enough to make the toddler glance over... as well as a loosening in his grip with which Edo could use to get away. The arachnid abandoned his painting to step towards the scene, his voice lowering. "Don't cause trouble..." Quote: No. She knew that word. No meant she couldn't have it. Or it was denied. He'd told her no and shoved her back. And Edo was pulled away too. That wasn't good at all, but she didn't know the words to counter it. She wasn't good at speaking yet so only a single word was repated. "Edo! Edo!" As if that would get the point across. Though this time it was less desperate and slight anger seeping in, the influence coming mainly from the boy. She didn't know why, but the fact he wouldn't give back her friend was making her want to do something back to upset him. To make him comply. Even if it didn't seem right.
The dragon wasn't about to sit still for a second, even when he was drug further away from the outstretched arm he continued his attempt to escape. He didn't like this person, they were rough, they didn't let go. He wanted to go. Finally his break came. A loud noise and the grip loosened. The dragon practically hurled himself at the arm and clawed his way up onto the gelflings shoulder huffing and managing a few shrill squeeks here and there. Still, once out of the other child's reach he calmed down a good bit and simply gave the boy death glares mixed with mild hisses from his perch.
Shaerie only had a moment to run a hand over the dragon's back before it was up between her neck and Tsuya's chest. Reaching behind her was a skill she hadn't yet mastered, so he was as out of reach as he could be. Still, she had gotten what she'd wanted. Sort of. There was another person there now. Someone she didn't know and Tsuya seemed rather bothered by the whole event.
And he was. Social skills were something he'd never had an abundance of, and worse yet his shy side was starting to kick in. They were in trouble, that much he knew. Edo had tried to hurt the kid, even if the kid had grabbed him. It wasn't something that was allowed. You were supposed to keep dangerous pets on leashes or something so... "Uh... umm... I" He'd turned to the older male while shying away from the other child a bit to ensure no further dragon snatching. "I'm sorry about that. He doesn't usually bite people or..." Ok, he didn't really know, but he had to say something. "He didn't mean it!" Even if the dragon was still hissing in a manner that suggested otherwise. Quote: The constant whining, the way the dragon strained for the girl... all of it was aggitating him and egging on his anger and frustration. He had tasted envy once before, and now he was feeling it again. The dragon belonged to the girl, he conceeded, but boiled over it while gripping his throbbing hand. Tiny pecks of red had began to show up, beginning to swell in size. Xerksis would have watched in amazement if he weren't so preoccupied. "Shut up." He told Shaerie, exercising his own first mouth-words.
Nozami loomed closer, unaware and likely uncaring of the snow leopard's shy tendancies. He was focused on Xerksis, who seemed to be bleeding. Ohh, he was going to get so much s**t for this, even though the boy probably deserved it for grabbing at foreign objects. At the words, the artist hefted a brow. "Didn't he, though?" A tan hand reached out for Xerksis, grabbing the boy's wrist gently enough and tugging it towards him for inspection. However, he didn't seem angry, turning the hand over. "Don't touch it." He was informing the Mindflayer. He was mildly wondering whether or not to get some disinfectant.
Xerksis ignored Nozami, allowing his hand to be looked over. He pushed to a stand, wobbling on unsteady legs made weak by sitting for so long. He copied Edo's look to a point, glaring at the dragon before turning it on Shae. For a moment, he held it, quite irritated with her, and very disappointed. "S'dumb..." He huffed, looking away again. Quote: She hadn't understood what was said. Though the tone was bad, not friendly at all. Not nice, not happy. She didn't like it, but Edo was fine. So he couldn't be all bad. Even if the dragon was having a hissy fit behind her.
Tsuya was left with a question that did cause him to slump slightly, averting his gaze. "Y-yes... but... he was just scared. He only hatched back in December. He's young." Feeble excuses given with no conviction, but what was he to do? It was kind of his fault. He hadn't controlled the dragon. "Is he alright? I'm really sorry about this..." Gods, what more could happen. Oh wait, the seal could break and some rampaging demon would kill them. There was that. So it could be worse, just not much worse.
Edo didn't flinch under the heavy stare. Only returned it while snapping his mouth open and shut a few times as if threatening to repeat the oh so deadly action of the bites should the boy try something again. Though that was enough. As soon as the child turned the intensity of the look away the small creature finally crawled out from half hiding behind the infant's neck and plopped down beside the other dragon. Who had had the sense to stay out of trouble durring the whole ordeal.
Shaeria shrunk back as the glare fell on her, no longer spurred with the need to protect the look just made her feel bad. Bad bad things, that's what it was. She didn't want to be part of it, she didn't want to be angry. She had no need to be and so until he quickly let out a quick sentence and turned she sort of hunched down burrying her face among the leathery wings of the pair for comfort. Quote: “Young,” The brunette’s tone sounded doubtful, though he really wasn’t feeling much more on the subject aside from his punishment for it. His adoptive father would probably give him more chores or -worse- want to take him out to another of his little social events with Ptolemy and Zetsu. The teenager almost shuddered at the thought, his stomach seeming to bulge out momentarily beneath his knitted shirt. “I don’t know if he’s alright...” He had a tendency to be more worried about bites than any other small injuries, for the first and last time he himself had performed the act succeeded in melting the skin off the place and hospitalizing the person. “Is it venomous?”
But Xerk wasn’t so worried, mostly occupied with staring at the floor. There was a mix of things in him- jealousy and dissapointment, mostly, and perhaps a little bit of dejection. He certainly didn’t know just how rough he’d been, or that he may have hurt the little guy...
“Sorry.” He grunted finally, shuffling his feet. Usually that made things okay- temper tantrums only usually worked when he was with his mom. Those odd eyes devoid of a customary pupil peered through the equally strange purple bangs, studdying the dragon, his counterpart, and the girl. He gave his hand a tug, successfully pulling it from the spider’s grasp. He seemed alright. Quote: Poisonous? The leopard quickly shook his head. "He's harmless, Raja would never have gotten Shaeria a toxic." All the dragons could really do was bite and scratch. They weren't meant to be able to hurt anything. They were for looks and being cute, small pets. Least, that was how he saw it. "They're harmless, really. Edo just doesn't like strangers I guess." He briefly glanced down at the dragon who seemed content to stay out of the kids reach.
Problem averted and no longer the center of all that was disliked the girl calmed again. He didn't seem angry now, so it was out. He really didn't seem so bad either now that he wasn't upsetting her friend. Just another person, a small person. Like her siblings right? Which meant he hadn't meant bad. He hadn't really hurt Edo, because he seemed ok, a quick glance at the dragon proved that, so maybe he was like them. That had to be it.
Sorry. That was something said when you misbehaved, or felt you did something bad. He was trying to make up. Which meant he wasn't bad at all. A smile perked up on the girl's face at that realization along with a new idea. Or perhaps just the recollection of what a word meant. Look. He'd just wanted to see Edo, but Edo didn't like him. So... She lifted her head a bit and moved her arm trying to carefully catch Aru in it. The dragon gave her a look before yawning and shifting to sit on her palm. Looking was fine, Aru didn't mind people looking.
So with that in mind she leaned forward a bit in Tsuya's arms to try and lower her arm to let the other child look at the more friendly of the two. "L-luhhk." That was a new word, but hopefully he'd understand. Quote: Then he is alright.” With that, Nozami finally stood, really taking in Tsuya for the first time. Black and white with hints of blue in his hair... and yet they weren’t contrasting tackily with the other teen’s skin tone. From his physique, he imagined the other to be quite lithe and nimble. The small hints of coloration in his cheeks alerted the artist to the demon’s nervousness better than just about anything else could. The child and her pets were evaluated next- she was small and adorable by society’s standards. Her hair was also quite colorless.
It hardly came to Noza’s attention that staring and evaluating the characteristics of people was rude and perhaps quite creepy, but he did turn his head upon hearing a soft thump nearby. Ah, they finally had the mural on the wall. Which reminded him. “You’re in here a bit early. This exhibit isn’t finished,” It was a statement only, not a suggestion, which was proved by his next, “If this galleria had any good help it would have been. I am Nozami, and this is Xerksis. If you intend to stay... I could show you around. I guess.” A short sigh came with it, as if the young man couldn’t care whether they stayed or went. The Mindflayer didn’t seem displeased enough to try and ward them away, so maybe it was alright to keep the group around.
The smile made Xerksis relax minutely. He liked smiles, though he didn’t often produce them himself. It meant this one was going to be friendly. When Aru was held out, the boy almost became excited again, his eyes flashing momentarily. The first reaction was reaching out- and then he determined what had been said. His fingertips wriggled in mid-air, a small whine leaving him as he understood that he wasn’t suppossed to touch. But he would look, dropping his hands to his side and leaning in a little more to study the dragon Shaeria held out for him. Soft approving sounds came slowly, as he tilted his head and looked it over. “...Oh kay.” He conceeded. “S’not...stupid.” Quote: A slight internal sigh was aired and likely quite visable on his face as seemingly the act had finally been forgiven. Trouble put aside for the time being. To make things better it seemed like both children had calmed down as well, even that they were getting along to some extent. Definitely a relief to say the least. Until the mention of the exhibit. "Ah... w-well.. it was kind of an accident. We didn't mean to cause trouble." Though the next bit did prove that the statement hadn't been meant to cause the reaction it origionally had. A mild smile was managed at that. Friendly terms he could handle, well at least better than being a problem. "I'm Tsuya. This is Shaeria and her two pets Edo and Aru. Edo is the one who Xerksis got ahold of earlier."
At the mention of staying he took to watching the two children a moent. She'd have more fun playing with someone her age, wouldn't she? So after a quick nod to himself he glanced back at the spider as he knelt down a bit to set the infant on the ground. "That would be nice." Standing back up and taking a moment to ensure there wasn't a sudden relapse in the kids getting along he turned his attention back to the tanned boy. "Umm... so are you the artist?" Kind of a stupid question, but it was best to ask. Assuming often led to issues.
Xerksis. The other kid thing had been labeled Xerksis. So that was what it was, but when he spoke up again he'd gotten the name wrong. Aru was not a stupid. Or an oh kay. He was an Aru. So even after she found herself plunked down on the floor, a slightly confusing thing that earned Tsuya a confused look briefly before her attention had returned to the mindflayer. "Arrrruuu." She corrected quietly as the small creature shifted to remain balanced on the hand that started to bob a bit. Though that was about as far as the conversation went. Shaeria wasn't exactly versed in the land of speech yet, she just tended to figure out a few things. "Edo. Aru." She shifted her armthat held the still mildly disgrunted dragon first and then the other arm which held Aru. Just to further clarify what they were.
Aru didn't mind the fact the child was looking at him in the least. If anything he was sort of curious right back, just not curious enough to leave his safety perch. It didn't stop him from leaning over and sniffing at fingertips that were briefly near him though. He emitted a slight squeak at the odd noises the person emitted before plunking back down on the three fingered hand that was his support. Odd child thing. Quote: The arachnid merely gave an acknowledging sound to such apologies, for he was only feeling generous for only one reassurance to he issue, even though it intermingled with a new one. The names recieved a nod, and were filed away for probable future use. He arched a brow mildly at the question, though, tongue flickering over the piercing in his lip as he wet the lower one in preparation to actually speak. "I am. At least, the paintings in this room are mine," The brunette informed him, waiting until Shaeria was set down to gesture for Tsuya to follow him. She'd be alright with Xerk- he wasn't THAT much of a threat, especially now that he seemed somewhat content. Nozami wasn't one for vanity; he didn't like to sit around and watch closely at observers for their approval or critisism of his art. That was for someone who wanted to please the world with art. Alot of what he'd chosen to put in was his insight, only a few of which were for possible sale. And like a lot of his views so early in life, a lot was abstract. A lot needed to be explained. As long as it was just this boy -whom he did feel some small connection to for hints of reclusiveness- and a few children he had to accomodate, he wouldn't mind overly much talking about the art. After all, the chances that he ever really talked to anyone were slim to none outside of his home.
The toddler blinked, associating the sound Shaeria to a poor impression of a coyote. It won a small snicker from the child, as he fell back onto his rump in a simple, lazy movement. She was a weird girl, but funny. Not like Artemis, who was wholly boring aside from the fact she paid him some attention. But as she insisted, his brow furrowed a little in confusion. "Eh-do, Aru..." A snap of realization. "Names! Eh-do, Aroo, Shay... Serk-sees... Names." A small, flippant gesture and a nod. Yes, those were all names. Maybe she could be taught more? Reaching out behind him, he drew a small backpack of his toys closer, picking out two odd excuses for dog plushies.
"Min-yon," He coppied her gestures, raising the black one, then the white. "Cohort." These were his own favorites, though he was dissappointed they weren't nearly as animated as Shaeria's Aru and Edo, nor were they named by him. She probably got to name hers. Quote: Tsuya was more than happy to just listen and follow along. Perhaps ask for clarification here or there, but he was much happier to just remain silent. Talking often became akward around new people, and he didn't have much to say anyway. Best to just learn what he could and understand the ideas that were meant by each piece placed in the gallery. At least, that was his assumption anyway.
The gelfing didn't realize that the snicker was at her own oddness. Rather, she simply applied that laughter meant he was happy and that she must have done something right. So she simply smiled in return before bobbing her head at the names. Shae, that was right. She was Shae and they where Edo and Aru. So he was Xerksis. "Seerrrkeeess." Repeating after him. "Neeems." Another fun new word to try out. He'd said it before and after though, so it was related to all of the other things. And then he was grabbing something new.
The backpack. Within which where... two things she did recognize to an extent. Dolls. She had a lot of dolls. Though she didn't have doggy ones like that. Mostly plushies like people, with dresses and pretty things. Then a name was givne to them. "Minun." She mimicked the sound as best she could, placing Aru on the ground in order to point at the one labeled that. Another name. "Cuhrt." As she switched to the second before grinning. They both had friends. Friends with names. "Edo. Aru. Minun. Cuhrt. Nemz." She shifted Edo who'd previously been nestled in her arm to set him on the floor with Aru. Letting the two play a bit more freely. To which Aru had decided to try and sniff at the latest addition to the games, the plushie. Edo followed suite to an extent, though more hesitant due to the fact he had to make sure the evil child didn't snatch him up again. Best to be on his guard. Still, plushie were nothing knew to the dragons, seeing as their keeper's room was home to an assortment of little plushes of every kind. It was only customary to meet the new ones when they arrived. Quote: Well, he was happy. Happy to be amused, even if she might be a little strange. Strange didn't seem a bad thing to him. And as she repeated him as well as she could, the boy nodded, pleased and not really concerned by the perfections of the sounds. She seemed happy too, which was good. It wasn't as if he was a brat ALL the time, after all. Tilting his head down and watched the dragons at play as well as setting down the plushies for them to look at. He did wonder what exactly they were. While he knew their names, he knew they didn't really define what they were, since they were so alike in features. He and Shae were children, Minion and Cohort could be called dogs... But Aru and Edo? Xerksis didn't suppose he could ask her. She was a little kid.
His hands reached out, about to grab the plushies by the backs and put on a show. This was a chance to show off, though. Something the boy was not about to willingly pass up. Drawing his hands back and placing them in his lap instead, he stared expectantly at the toys on the floor. And when the little reptiles were close enough... they twitched, leaning. Xerksis grinned, willing the plushies to twitch more, shifting their forepaws and tilting their heads. This much he could do, not knowing it to be any more than a neat little trick. His toys just did what he wanted them to, whether it was making a ball roll to him or all of his toys simultaneously falling off the shelves. He made small yipping sounds as he moved them in minute ways, watching Shae and her dragons for reactions. Quote: The gelfling was more than happy. She usually didn't get to play with older children since most of the family was either quite young or old enough to play outside on their own. So it was either the less than natural games with adults or dolls and dragons for her. This new game of mimic was a new one, and fun. Especially when the other person seemed to like it too. Edo and Aru were having a good time too it seemed, what with exploring the plushies. AT least until the new show started.
Shaeria glanced up as the other boy withdrew his hands and sat back a bit. Then her attention was drawn down as a startled squeak came from one of the two dragons. It was Aru, who had been closest to the plushes when the first had twitched. Though both dragons began to back pedal as the previously immobile creatures began moving as if suddenly alive. That wasn't normal, not at all. And neither dragon was all that thrilled with it.
On the other hand, Shae was having a ball. She'd quickly placed her hands infront of her to be able to lean closer, watching this new brand of toy she'd never seen before. One that played back. They were a lot better than her dolls, but not quite as nice as Edo and Aru. "Ip!" A quick noise to copy one of the little calls that Xerksis had made for the animal before she tried to pat one of the two on the head. They were good doggies. Good Minion and Cohort.
Not that the dragons wanted anything to do with it for now. Both had taken to huddling behind the hand that was still planted on the ground to support the girl. Edo curiously peaking out here and there before ducking back at the noise. Things were alive or dead, not both. So the thing that was dead that moved wasn't exactly their cup of tea. Quote: Their reactions were indeed satisfying, a small peal of laughter swelling forward at the startled dragons. They really believed that the dogs could move without him! Yes, it was a good trick indeed. An enthusiastic nod was given at the mimicking sound effects, for again the toddler believed that progress was being made upon this other child. She was so quiet! And maybe that was more or less a good thing. As noisy as he was when he was that age and still could be, he wouldn't tolerate most of it from others. Hence his first word- 'shutup'.
The dog she patted flopped onto its side compliantly, and Xerk reached out to prop it up again. He was proud of them, yes! But like he couldn't have the dragons no matter how much he liked them, it was the same for Shae. He did, however, feel like perhaps she needed something. She had made him happy, unlike a lot of the encounters he ran into, and now he had his backpack of toys... Snagging the strap of it, he pulled the thing up into his lap and stared into the zippered mouth. One pale arm fished around inside as he made a thoughtful sort of murr. "Like kitties?" He asked her, wondering if she knew what that was. It seemed to him like a girl would know about kitties and cute things when they were born. Quote: Shaeria quickly pulled her hand back as the thing flopped over at her touch. She hadn't meant to break it. A quick frown as she waited to see if it got up, but the thing didn't. Though Xerksis quickly solved the problem by propping it up again and it seemed as good as new. Odd though, the thing had seemed so alive on it's own before. Ah well, the boy didn't seem angry so it obviously wasn't broken. Always a good sign.
The two little dragons were rather pleased when one of the things seemed defeated, until it was set back up. A quick little pip of a hiss from Edo was snorted at the thing from his safe hideout before things went back to avoiding getting attacked by the zombie plushies. Or whatever they were.
She blinked at the question proposed, not really sure where it was heading. She did know what a kitty was. They had one at the house, by the name of Ichigo. She didn't exactly get along with Ichigo, but she did like looking at her.Ichigo just wasn't much for being pet and usually hopping away. Still kitties were nice and pretty. So a quick nod was given after a moments thought. Kitties where good, just not good for petting and snuggling. She had Edo and Aru for that though, so it wasn't something she saw as a problem. "Leike kikis." Quote: She did, then? Good. Xerksis hadn't met a cat yet that he really liked, mostly because none of them over at his babysitter's house hadn't really paid him any mind. But then,he had been given a cat for a toy, and he didn't really favor it. Not so much as his dogs. Nodding at the girl, he smiled, pulling a small jar free from his backpack. Inside floated a little purple kitten, held up by whatever forces were being worked in the jar. It was set in front of the dogs, for Shae to observe, though he did nudge it towards her. There- take it if you like it. Quote: Most anything that was small and cute could be liked. And why should she not like something simply for the fact it didn't like her? Getting along seemed the best option, so there was little she could say she didn't like. Certainly she would never change them to liking her if she was mean. Just don't force something on anyone and there wouldn't be a problem. As far as she saw it. It was the method she'd been trying with Ichigo, but it wasn't really working. The cat seemed to have no interest in making friends. Though it did try to catch the two small dragons from time to time.
Still this little kitty was different. Much smaller than Ichigo, smaller than the two dragons who were taking a look at this new threat warily. And it was in a bottle for that matter. Also, it was purple, not pink. Not to mention the floating bit. Ichigo jumped a lot, but never floated. This kitty was very different. It still got the same approach though. Leaning closer to peer at it she carefully prodded the edge of the bottle, eyeing it. It was solid of course, and it didn't seem to fall out of the air. Another odd thing. Something Xerksis seemed to like keeping in his bag really. At least she hadn't broken this one. "Kikis." Quote: Odd things were something Xerksis liked to keep close to him, though he hadn't ever noticed it, nor been confronted with it before. Everyone in his family seemed to be oddballs, so it wasn't likely that it would ever be brought to his attention that way. And no one seemed to mind, either. For now, his quirks ran to tearing things apart and experimenting. Usually the victims were things like bugs... or dragons.
But as far as what living things he liked and did not mostly depended on the things themselves. If there was a negative response to him, he gave it back. If someone was nice... not so much. He was vindictive at this early age, and could hold a grudge. When someone didn't pay him attention, he usually got mad about it. Luckily, he could be easy to forgive. That was why he wasn't still holding Ed in contempt of the bite, though he didn't like the hyper dragon so much anymore.
"Kitty." Xerksis agreed. "S'purple." He also felt the need to point out, reaching up to stroke a finger over one of his purple bangs, then point at the kitten. Quote: Shaeria's household wasn't exactly normal either. From dragons to demons and one crazed harpy. It was anything but normal. So they child fit in well enough, and it wasn't considered odd that she had only three fingers. It would have been a wonder if people had even noticed it beyond mention that she'd never be gifted with most instruments. Not that it mattered, it didn't earn her special treatment of any sort. Which was likely good. Often treating a child as if they were normal was best. Coddling her wouldn't have taught her how to react to situations. It would have left her with a greater dissability.
It also left room for growth. Which was measured in many ways. One of which was learning new things. Like words for example. She'd already known the colour, though hadn't been using the word for it yet. Just that she liked the shade. "Kikis perpul." Not the easiest word in her growing book to say really. "Leike perpul." Quote: Three fingers. Xerksis was noticing it now, or as she touched the jar. He did wonder about it, but didn't really know how to bring it up. His eyes did lower to his own fingers, though, particularly to the ones on the wounded hand. One...two... Well, more than her, anyway. The woman needed to teach him more. It wasn't like he was coddled either- in fact, he was more or less ignored whenever he screamed for attention, even becoming hoarse once for it. He had to go find fellowships himself.
Xerksis knew a lot of words. He knew things that had never actually been told to him, too. Granted, he couldn't say half of them. His mouth was far too slow to catch up with the rest of him, and it was something he was frustrated with often. "Yus. Purpool is gooood." Might as well show her some more, right? With a gesture to Minion, then Cohort, he pronounced. "Black, weit." Quote: She beamed nodding a bit at the agreement. Then it was settled. Good colour. Which meant the kitty was good too. And that of course made more things, well, good. So of course she was happy about it. Even more, there came the mention of two new things. For minion and cohort of course. "Blahk. Waiht." She repeated, eyeing each doll in turn as she said it. "Blaaaaaahk. Waiht. Perpul." And back to the kitty with the last one. Three names for three colours.
Everything had a name for it, the problem was learning those names. She'd learned a few over time, things like mommy, like, no, yes. Simple things that everyone picked up, but everytime people spoke it did prove how little she knew, how little she could say. So she was utterly pleased at the bit she was learning. The older children always talked so fast and she couldn't keep up, but if she learned more she'd be able to play too. Not just talk to her dolls and Edo and Aru. She'd be able to be included in the games too. And wasn't being able to be with everyone the best option?

Still a Mommy(Quest Entry)
Everything in the world had a name. Well, save for those rare things that... no one could explain. Much less name. Or so was the firm belief that a certain parent had. So what better to teach a child about the world she was beginning to understand than finding out what the name for everything was. Yes, a brilliant strategy that he'd come up with after spotting flash cards in the store one day. Each labeled by a level of difficulty. Such a useful... reusable tool.
Because a child knowing what you were saying helped loads.
"Kiki!" Teh excited voice once more chimed as the card with the cat came up.
Of course, it didn't help when someone had taught the child the wrong name for something. "Cat. Kitty." A calm smooth tone as he pointed at the feline on the card hoping to clear up the confusion with his young daughter. "Kitty. Say Kitty, Shae." The gelfling had recently taken to babbling out and mimicking words she heard, so it was clear some bumps were bound to occure. She'd gotten a few names wrong, but everything was fixable.
"Kiki." Another firm answer as she beamed up assuming it was right. Kiki was what they were as far as she was concerned. Raja was a kiki too, which meant he had fuzzy ears and a tail. She liked kikis too, her brother was one. Very fluffy and nice. That was the conclusion she'd come to from her interaction with them. And it was staying.
"Oi... ok. Next card." He flipped to a new one that had a flower on it. "Flower." He waited briefly as the child starred up at him before seeming to try and test the word out. "Flower. Pretty flower." He repeated slowly and clearly.
"Fowah." A firm attempt to identify the thing on the card. The sound wasn't an easy one to copy, rather... it took far more effort than some of the others. Like car for example. A single word. Something she had no trouble spouting out.
"Good good, and this?" This time the card displayed a smiling sun. Equipped with it's own set of shades. What a friendly looking display for a blazing molten thing in the sky. Still, it was very kid friendly.
"Sun." She knew that one. This wasn't her first session with the cards, so a few of the more simple ones had stuck with her. Proving the method was working slowly, but surely. Or that she just liked some of the words more.
"Good job, Shaeria!" Ah yes, praise was the best way to keep a child striving to do better. Another flip before he frowned at the card. A repeat. He shuffled with them a bit to check that he hadn't accidentally put one in wrong. Nope, all in order. So todays run through was done. "Oops, out of cards. Alright well..." He paused glancing around the room briefly before pointing to a tree that showed out of the glassdoors leading to the backyard. "What's that?" It was one of the flashcards so she'd hopefully know.
"Tree." There was a brief pause before the girl recalled the word, then an eager reply. It earned her a smile proving that she'd been right. "Treeeee tree!" She shifted slightly before glancing around to choose her own things and continue the game. "New." A glance at her brother he looked up from reading a book on the couch. "Aru. Edo." The two dragons were laying on a chair dozing happily as she said it. Finally she came to her father again. "Mommy." A happy grin as she labeled the final thing.
Sadly her father didn't exactly share the sentiments. Sure a quick smile that she'd done well, but at the same time. He wasn't a mommy. He was a daddy. "Daddy." He pointed to himself as he said it, careful to sound pleased as he did. Yelling at her would do no good, nor would scolding her.
"Mommy."
"Apparently there would be two things he'd have to eventually try to correct. That kitty bit... and this. Until then he'd just have to deal with being stuck as a mommy. "Alight, Shae. Good girl, how about a treat?" He stood up and moved over to pluck up the gelfling from the floor as she quickly chimed a 'yes' as him. So be it, mommy for another day.

Red, Red, Blue(Quest Entry)
"I swear it's going to drive me insane..." The comment was muttered quietly toward the man beside him.
"Red, blue, yellow." The device chimed pleasant turns as the three keys lit up. "Now you try!" Once again the overly pepper voice before the gelfling began to slowly copy the pattern. ""Red!" One down.
"Oh, it's not so bad. Just keep it in her room?" The pale man wasn't too fond of the device either. At least not when Shaeria was doing her part. The tunes weren't soooo bad.
"Blue! Yellow!" "YAY! YOU DID IT!" Then a pleasant tune filled the room to signify her completion. Such was the prize for her efforts. The tune ran along for about thirty seconds before the voice was back again. "Let's try it again!" The little mechanical piano's four keys once more lit up in a short pattern for the game of simon says. Then called for the child to try her hand at it.
"I guess the sound won't travel too far..." Raja offered quietly while rubbing his head. "I'm going to go get some asparin." Something of a mistake to get her a loud toy like that. Oh well, she seemed to love the music that came with it. Wasn't that a big part of Gelfling culture? That must have been it.
"Likewise." Tai didn't need more of an excuse than that to quietly cloth the child's door before shuffling down after the blond. Anything to avoid hearing 'Mr. Happy' as the voice had been dubbed.
Shaeria carefully pressed the buttons, listening at each little ding before one key dinged wrong and the voice popper up again. "Ah, ah. I said green. Let's try again!" Once more the pattern showed what she was meant to do. This time she pressed the green properly and the voice popped in with her praise and another song. A pleased giggle at her success before the game asked her to try again. A new little code of three colours and chimes. Another rhythm to mimic and another pleasant tune as her prize.
A rather simple thing really, but something that amused the girl to no end. She loved hearing the happy little winning tunes, they just seemed right. Pleasant, cheerful, and flowing. It was the chance to hear it again and again that kept her pressing the keys, memorizing the patterns and colours so even if she missed spotting which one lit up she knew. It was all very worth it to do again and again. Such was the point of the toy. To compel her to learn for something fun.
And music cerainly was fun, even something short. "Reh, reh-" She trailed off saying the pattern aloud as she watched it light up. Then once more repeating it as she pressed it herself. A happy tune signaling her success once more before the round started up again. This time four little blinks instead of three. Shaeria frowned slightly at this before trying to recall the pattern once more. A broken noise as she pressed the blue rather than the correct red. Once more the voice called up for her to try again as it all started over.
Nexttime she'd get it. She just had to keep at it until she did.

A Tale for You(Quest Entry)
And then Princess 'Shaereeah' found herself- The book spoke smoothly, only breaking as it came to a point where it was to say the name. Then a pause as it called out the recording she'd given it when asked what her name was. The book was programmed to tell seven different stories each set around the tale of a princess. Which of course was named whatever the book had been told to name it. Press the square button to continue. The little sound as the book paused, preparing to 'turn pages.' The thing didn't actually have pages. It was electronic so when the young gelfing pressed the green button shaped like a square a tune played as the center screen changed to a new image. Below the picture words lit up as the book spoke, telling the tale of the little princess trapped in a tower. Or perhaps the one about how she saved her kingdom.
Each tail ended with it's own happily ever after, but each took it's own way of getting there. A nice feel good set of stories really. Even better was the fact that she was playing the part of the same thing her brother always called her. A little princess. So now she was one, just like her brother said. A sweet little princess doing good in the world. It made the story even better.
Now came a dramatic tone from the book as the villain appeared, the voice dropping to something following the theme. A few more sentences before another little chime to press a new button. This time the circular one. Moments after the gelfling complied again, eager to hear how the princess would save her friends from the dastardly bad guy. Again it perked up saying her name as it explained how she convinced the man to end things peacefully. A smile widening on the child's face as she heard this. Violence was bad, she liked it how they all ended up together. Especially how they were all dancing around and having fun. That was much better. A bad guy didn't need to be bad afterall.
The girl shifted as the book finished up it's story, glancing behind her at the noise in the hall. It was merely Tai-Yun coming to check on her, the man peeking in as the finishing music ran it's course. The pale man knew the tune well and smiled, secrectly thankful he'd missed the actual story. "Did you have fun."
"Yes." A bright smile as she waved her hands momentarily. "All frens!" She quickl babbled before shifting to close the book. One always had to close it before another story could be selected. It was how the toy worked afterall.
"Oh, really? That's good. Do you want to play with your friends too?" He was well aware of the fact the child had been in her room listening to the book for a while, so some fresh air would be good. She was getting older... perhaps she could play with Daren and Dalia? They did rough house a bit, but they were close enough to her age. "It's a nice ay out. The sun is out saying hello." Ah yes, the art of talking to children, he'd mastered it to an extent.
A brief frown as she thought hard. She hadn't heard one of the stories yet, but she did like being outside too. A moment more before she pushed the book away and moved to wake up the two dragons who'd dozed off durring the story. "Wakeeee" The two creatures blinked sleepily at her before Edo let out a large yawn and shifted to get up and stretch. After a moment both dragons had been collected the the child found herself being helped slowly down the hall. Another of the things she was learning. To walk a bit. Just with someone's hand, but it was some progress. Even if she did slip up and slump to the floor a lot. Of course it didn't help that one of her arms was filled with the two dozing dragons. Still, the encouragement that she could do it got her up every time as she stumbled along down the hall.
It seemed everything was practice practice and keep trying. Tha was how is was with all of these new things it seemed.

Two Views to Every Act(Quest Entry)
"Why... must I explain this?" The man grumbled, tapping idly at his leg that was free, the other had the young girl sitting on it, a polite smile on her face. Fingers finally halted from the action after a few more seconds as she eyed the brilliant colored strands of hair. Right, because Lyneas... had no common sense. "Honestly, trying to dye you purple like Eren... she probaly doesn't even realize it could have killed you..." He muttered, fondly ruffling the girl's hair, messing the previously neat tied up style in the process.
"Huh?" Was a quiet noise offered at the words, the child's eyes wide and obviously the severity of the issue was long on the toddler. Not that it wasn't a problem, but she was too young to truly understand the toxic side of hair dye.
He offered a bit of a smile to the girl, which fell a bit at the sight of her hair again. Honestly, it was such a... psychotic color. Lyneas was pleased, but it honestly didn't fit her as well in his opinion. The pale look had been... so much more calming. And with the child as quiet as she was, that followed with her personality better. The color was just too 'loud' for her. Even so. "I know you won't, but you shouldn't get angry you know." He mumbled, probably talking more to himself than the girl on his lap. "She... did mean well... in her own way."
"Ah... well." The girl chimed, after a moment. Going silent briefly before nodding. "Fagive." She added, smiling slightly, as obviously it was the thing to say. Shaeria continued to work her mouth for a bit even after finishing, obviously attempting to deem if it had been said properly or not, an testing to word out a bit more in silence. She hadn't fully grasped speech yet, even if a few words where more sophisticated than most.
A mirrored bobbing of his head even as the man's eyes traveled up from the girl seated on his knee to the back porch, watching the glass windows that led into the living room in silence. "Mmhmm... fagi- er forgive." He stuttered briefly, correcting himself as he snapped out of the brief train of thought he'd begun down in wondering what to do with Lyn. "It's good that you an understand that. Even if people do bad things at times, it's not always for a bad reason. Just... try to get their point of view?" He still figured the concept was mainly lost on such a young child, but the sooner he started preaching it the better. Hell, maybe even he'd manage to make it a habit of his own if he kept at it long enough.
...though probably not.
