I'm an odd person sometimes. This happened a few months ago, but I was debating with myself of whether or not I should bother posting this. There's this anime music video in youtube.com that reminded me of abortion for some strange reason. It's a clip from Neon Genesis Evangelion done to the song 'Komm Susser Tod' (aka: Come Sweet Death). The video is located here. I must warn you that it's 12 minutes long, so watch it when you have the time. Well, you don't have to necessarily watch it, but just listen to it carefully and tell me if you're thinking what I'm thinking? o.0
I'm not saying that this anime music video is about abortion. Its just, to me, when I listen to it it sounds like it almost parallels to abortion. Almost.
I don't think you guys realize how silly I feel about this, but I needed to let it out. Plus, I couldn't get the song out of my head. sweatdrop

Well I looked up the lyrics since youtube is a pain and I think it's about suicide not abortion (or that's what it reminds me of).

I won't say your nuts...Shinji does have a lot of self-worth issues and is afraid of getting close to others out of fear that he'll get hurt...which in turn purpetuates a "nobody cares about me/I never should have existed" attitude...it's a vicious cycle really.
Same for Rei and Asuka. What worth do they have? Asuka values herself only as a pilot. Rei only wants to die...but she won't because Gendo still has a need for her.
None of those children have mothers. Shinji's died years before the start. Asuka's went insane and killed herself. Rei is...well that would be a spoiler.
But the denoumont of End of Evangelion is enough to counter that. If Shinji and Asuka are the first to make the decision to keep living despite how much they completely hate themselves...there's hope for the rest of us.
((Rats...I was all excited at first when I saw "Neon Genesis Evangelion AMV"...my boyfriend and I have a few of those under our belts....though we're not into the depressing AMV business))

Oh God, you realize you saw that in my profile correct? xD! Well you probably did.
Firstly: gracias for the traslations of Komm Susser Tod. Couldn't find it.
Secondly:
If anything, NGE has made me wonder about the futility of being pro-life in some cases. This is going to be very emo-filled, and so unbecoming of a brimming bright youth but bear with me, it's my experience.
I don't know who here has gone to high school, graduated, or has yet to go but this is just about where people blossom and really understand and see and experience the world around them. As such, you see alot of frowns and sulking faces and alot of people relishing in hollow joys often. It's an interesting thing to see and especially to realize just what's happening.
When I saw NGE in its entirety I was very shell-shocked. It was so powerful, so moving. And it was beautiful to watch all those people spiral down and to just see all of that human pain glorified and shown. Why do I word it like that? Because it's the truth, that's what happens to so many of us. Just overwhelmed and over taken.
For those of you who have any plans to watch it, this is a movie spoiler so don't read on: Shinji basically wishes, desires for a word where there is no pain, a world of unity, where all hearts and souls blend into one. In the movie, this is shown as people exploding into orange goo, it's a little more then that, but it's the "release", the unification of all things in life so that they share all burdens but also, the "release" of death, that even in dying, all your pain and suffering and anger just dissapate, and you're done. And whether or not your believe in an after life is irrelevant because the burdens of the real world are no more.
I think what i'm getting at is that sometimes I wonder what it is that i'm protecting. Thinking about fetii, thinking about children, thinking about women, I must use those to grasp to my position then just "life". To be fully honest, life isn't all that good (sorry to the "Life is good" store). Especially in this day and age.
Or maybe I'm just in my roughest stage.
We'll see.

Yeah but like in the end he decides that it's better to live on as "Shinji Ikari" in a world with pain than to be a part in this great unification with no pain and no identity. After Instrumentality falls apart, anyone could regain their physical forms if they wanted to. The fact that Shinji and Asuka were the first (of all people geez!) is pretty significant. EoE is a trauma to watch (ho crap I did NOT sleep well that night)...but it is still a sign that even those who feel they are completely worthless can have a desire to keep existing.

I've heard that this "Asuka" is the embodiment of all three women in Shinji's life (Asuka/Misato/Rei) because of the brownish eyes...and I've also heard that Asuka is not only the real deal but also pregnant since her last bit of dialogue implies morning sickness. I don't know. I'm just one to think that sometimes the best answer is the simplest one. sweatdrop
