Seriously!

Women are behind men in the prayer because women are so fabulously voluptuous and beautiful that they distract the men, so therefore we must be behind them.

I'm so sick of all this "equal rights in Islam" crap. I mean, some things are just freakin' understood, and the point of Islam is that it is the only religion that doesn't change to fit modern times.

oh my god you are so right! heart its spoky the way you were reading my mind stare

...1930? Even by common sense I know that is WAY bs.
Doesn't even make sense; period.

People are getting way too messed up with the facts these days..

Please 'scuse me for posting in this thread so late after its creation, but the topic of discussion has me a bit curious. I haven't read far enough into my own newly bought copy of the Qur'an to find the answer, so I'll ask here; are women and men allowed to pray together, if it's a man leading the group?

What do you mean by praying together..

Technically, they do pray together, but are positioned so that the women are in the back. It was made that way when, in the beginning, when they prayed mixed, Muhammad (peace be upon him) saw how some men were watching the women as the bent down in prayer. So, he placed them behind so that they couldn't be dishonored in such a way.

I think group prayer is stupid.
I enjoy Personal supplication and honest prayer to Allah.
I've found that group prayer can become a more social occasion.
Oh, and on the Gender issue descussed earlier:
Allah also appears in the feminine-masculine conjuncion; I am unsure what it is, but it is a lengthened title for Allah meaning:" Gracious (full of grace) Lord/God" So is is possible that if Allah is viewed pantheistically (as I, as a Sufi, do) that He is not really He or She, but both neither He or she (asexual/agenderal) AND BOTH He and She, because He is All things in the universe (pansexual). I simply say he is beyond the gender descussion, and I refer to Allah as Allah, and I feel (in my case, definately not all) that is is disrespectful to call Allah He, She or It.
