Dude, I've got about 15 FFVI winamp skins. They rule.
On topic though, I really liked the ending. Terra decides to remain human, everyone escapes the tower as it collapses and all the people are saved. Meanwhile, somewhere, a book's pages are turned. Classic.

I heard the ending is different if you manage to beat it with only the essential characters in the WoRuin. Celes, Sabin, Setzer, and Edgar. I guess it's fortunate, seeing as Setzer is an unstopable house of pain, and Edgar turns into the invincible water sprite/demon Kappa, but what should I do with Celes and Sabin. I love Sabin, don't get me wrong, but he's no where near as tweakable and Setzer or Edgar. Can anyone tell me if there actually is another ending with just these four, or should I not even waste my time?

I don't know if there's a special ending with just those four but there are different ending sequences for the characters depending on how many you got. If you don't get Locke, Celes drops Locke's bandana, Setzer gets her and reminds her that she promised to play Maria for him again and Celes just breaks over Locke. That's the only one I know. Terra shows up wether you went and got her or not. She's key to the game.

Was it just me or did the ending after the "escape" also change depending on who you had/what you did?

Terra~Branford Terra shows up wether you went and got her or not. She's key to the game. That's because you're awesome Terra smile Anyway, has anyone here actually seen this legendary ending with the four "main" characters, or is it just some cruel legend designed to waste your time like the one that said you could get General Leo back?

It's not 4 it's 3. Celes, Edgar, and Setzer. Edgar and Celes's endings are different. But it's really hard. Remember, You cannot get any other characters because they show up at the end. And that means you cannot get any items or espers that come from those characters. And if that has not sunk in it means no Ultima, no Ragnarok, no Illumina, no Life 3. Btw I think you can do it as long as you don't get certain characters like locke, and sabin. But I am sure there are other characters that could be affected too. I cannot remember what relms ending was but if strago was in it, what if you dont get strago? Watch the endings of all the characters. If there is anyone other than the manditory celess, edgar and setzer, try beating it without that other person.
Anyway I actually like the original ending. The airship is there for two reasons I think, for one, it does kind of symbolize their newfound freedom, youll notice the world looks more alive in the end. Also, if theres too much action and dialouge, how are you going to pay attention to that simpley phenominal ending score. Which is IMO the best song in the game. If the ending isn't enough, play the playstation version.

Grrr must buy again playstation version and defeat >< I loved the ending of FF 6. It was the best ending I've seen to a game... EVER! I went back and beat FF 1 and almost cried because the ending was so horrible. The ending score for FF 6 was the best song definitely. I've left a character behind here and there but I have to get around to beating the game with only the three. All I'd have to do is level them up in 99 in the forest and make sure each of them is wearing the ribbon. And the Moogle Charm when the are they ones walking. Then it shouldn't be much of a problem up to the Goddesses. I hoard MegaElixers ^^ Hrm...
I know with at least a few characters, all that happens when you don't bring them along is it just pans over the area that they came from. Like Zozo and Shadow. So it can play the music in their place.

Why cant all you people just accept the Goodness of Final Fantasy VI? I mean I loved the entire thing! The entie game had some humor in it! Even the ending, with Gogo falling off into a hole after flipping the switch for Celes. But it was kinda sad when you see what happens to Shadow.... It wasn't no Chrono Trigger ending, but i still loved the game (both of them).

It was my favorite ending ever for a game. Sure the airship things was pretty silly but the little scenes as they climbed down from the tower were awesome and the moogles dying was priceless.

i personally like the ending. i thought it was awsome. The music made it go nicely. but i guess i also loved flying around in the airships, so... sweatdrop i also think it's quite posibly one of the longest, and most satisfing ending for a video game ever.
