You know... I just got to this thread, and well... I'm one out of nine that doesn't give two smacks either way. My reasoning is if you think the outfit is cool looking, wear it, even if it's a little showy. Who cares? It's a dumb poorly-animated avatar anyway, and it's not like it's showing anything truly bad. Now, if you're putting that outfit on your avatar for the sole purpose of looking like a skank, that's a whole different story. You are what you want to be. And yes, these avatars are a representation of us as the people we are, and it would put a big message across about us and how we feel about our religion and beliefs. On the other hand, if people can't understand that the avatar is an INDIVIDUAL thing... let 'em go suck a nut. I was surprised to see this thread... I just don't understand why it matters what an avatar is wearing...
And as for women who dress immodestly being porno? Pssh... they're just skanks. Porno is in a class by itself. Women dressing immodestly are either desperate for attention, or think WAY too highly of themselves. I say Get Over It!!! domokun

all avys start out with the usual, but modest clothes. it is, in fact, hard to get decent, modest clothing at the beggining because of the little money you start out with and how much cool but modest clothing costs.

Zeline Okay IRL we have standards in the strenght of youth that give us guide lines on how to dress. What is acceptable and what isn't. However my question for you is does that appy here on Gaia? Do you think it is important that we dress our gaians modestly? Many of us have LDS sigs, if our avy's were immodest would that not give some sort of message to those who see it? I have been wondering about this lately and decided to aks all of you. What do you think? Important? Or not? Modesty goes everywhere. The talk of women being objects of sex isnt being modest. No matter if we are naked, in the leather strapped manties/Webbed outfits *shudders at those hidieous outfits* as far as gaia goes. Modesty goes with how you act. It may come with avatars as well, however there are times I like to throw on a pair of boxers and some chicky or bunny slippers and wear just that. I dont see it as being immodest due to having someone lust for ones avatar is immodest. And wearing expensive items mearly to show off and flaunt what you have.

Modest clothing is quite easy to get. There are lots of cheap and awesome outfits. However, I have noticed the price of things (for males at least) such as Dancer Bottom, Leather Strapped Manties, Hooker Boots (upsidedown boots) are far from modest in the thought train of an avatar with skimpy/small clothing being immodest. There are very few clothing items which is immodest. Hence why I base someones modesty about how they appear around gaia with items. I know several users who deck out their avatar in the most expensive things they can get their hands on, just to flaunt off worth. That there is where modesty of gaians lies.

neutral 'Porno' is a photograph, movie, or erotic story that is ment to be of a sexual nature. A person who dresses 'porno' would have to be naked and having sex being recorded or photographed for money... lousy money at that. A person who dresses like a slut or a whore is someone who is easy or wants people to lust after them.
Well, To be honest, a woman dressing immoddestly is no different then a man dressing immodestly. They are both wanting to show off more or make people lust after them. There is no difference in a man or a woman dressing immoddestly.
Not many people 'lust' after an avatar that looks awesome. Most people on this site lust after items.
Although I do think the leather strapped manties have to be one the most unmoddest thing I have ever seen on this site gonk At least the dancer bottom has some class too it. The Manties are like.. *shudders*
