I'll feel dumb if I don't take them. Plus, I don't want to spend a lot of money for college, so I figured I can try to get some classes out of the way.

You have to spend lots of money for APs anyway, if you plan on taking the tests. They're $83 per test here, unless you have lunch tickets, which reduces them to $13 per test.
And you have to pay to send applications to colleges as well. But if you have lunch tickets, you can get fee waivers for those, too. And if you get accepted into a college? That's what FAFSA is for. It's a part of financial aid that the state government funds just for us students.

Hmm...They're $40 for first-time, $83 for Challenge tests/repeats, and $5 for needy students.
Might as well get (possible) college credit and high-school credit at the same time.
I know about FAFSA. Sort of. (But I don't need to reasearch it right now.)

I take the AP courses to get experience in taking college tests. I might get a lot of those in Berkeley.

No, you pretty much will.
Is it true that Berkely only accepts 1% of those who apply? Or is that for those who apply to the School of Engineering? I heard that from my math teacher in 7th grade, and suddenly remembered. (She was talking about William Hung, for some reason.)

I don't know. I heard it was hard to get into Berkeley.
But I know that Berkeley gets most of its freshman from our high school. We have, like, 40 people going to Berkeley and 80 to UCLA.

Wow, your high school must be pretty good, then.
Heh. There's about 7 or 8 high schools in California with the same name as the one I go to. So, if anyone asks, they'd be confused since they wouldn't know which one I went to. pirate
