as sox said, not bad for 5 hours of work. i gotta say though, i'm really not fond of the yellow tones on the nose/upper lip/chin. the rest of the colors work so well together, but that yellow (if the photo is true-ish to life, that is) would bother me to no end. i also really like how you've done the positioning of the lips; it looks very sly. Did you work from a photo, or the mirror?

@ Kiri- I used a bit of both. The original inspiration was a photo my friend had taken, but I refrenced the expression from a mirror... The yellows are somewhat true to life, they don't stand out quite that much.
And I'll check out the work once I get home from school- images are blocked. -_-;
Edit-
Hrm.. I like your simplistic line style. It's not often I see line art that simplified and that effective.

thanks; it was a new experiment for me on a few different levels. i'm happy with the way it turned out, for the most part.

okay, i sooo meant to comment on this 2 days ago......
*ahem* so anyways. the first one is my favorite one. it has a lot of character for a really simple drawing. for the second one, well, it just seems to me like you could have some just a little more.

yeaa...i was obviously more entertained by the first drawing than the second. i'll probably return to it in like a year and totally massacre it by trying to add shading or somesuch absurdity biggrin
but thanks for your comment, cap'in!

i remember seeing that on your AW portfolio. i remember, at first, i wasn't sure if it was a photo or not (partly because the picture on AW is so small, partly because it's not your average drawing, being all inclusive and such), but it's pretty much awesome. even if it doesn't look like you, i can tell that it's you because of the stuff around it (of course, i would be better able to do this if i knew you in RL, but still, the idea is there).
anydangways.....holy crap that's amazing. mrgreen

Something from earlier this year, self portrait from one of those 50x mirrors that was about 4in wide D: Probably took about 2 hours because what you can't see is that the shaded parts have super fine detail. My camera sucks :X

Hahaha, here is a typical "Sami Bullshit" as my art teacher likes to say, this literally took me about... 3 minutes? The face is amazing (if you as me), the body- not so much. But what do you really expect in a 3 minute time span?
Too bad it never turned into anything.
