substance cannot exist without its accidents - they are what define it accidents cannot exist without a subtance - they need to be an accident of
do you know your self? (the substance?) no you know your experiences and sense impressions (your accidents)
so do you exist? or is all of this just an illusion?
how do you know substance exists if all you can sense is accidents?
this is the reasoning that drove hume crazy well, didn't drive him crazy but,... well isn't every philosopher crazy to an extent?
what hume did to get his mind off the fact that the world didn't exist was he went out and found something ordinary to do. he went to a bar to talk to people who don't think about that kind of thing.
this was the topic of discussion in my philosophy class this afternoon.

WHOOT!!! More quantam physics!
In quantam physics, whatever you see, sense, touch, smell etc. is real to you. Therefore it exists. Even if the rest of the world can't see you, but you can see yourself in the mirror, you exist. In quantam physics, you literally create your own reality. So, by acknowleging the fact that you can brush your hair or type on your keyboard, you prove to yourself that you exist, because you think you exist. So, do you think you exist? Then you do! Do I know if you exist? No. Is that relavant to your existance? No, because you are the only person whose perception matters. If you believe you exist, you do.
