WASTED ALCOHOL

Bobby Reynolds
Bobby decided she would overcome that fear today... She had never before been afraid of water, but ever since that fateful day she was terrified of the ocean. The beach was a frightful place now.

When her hooves touched the sand, the pig glared at the unrelenting ground. Lifting her gaze, she saw the ocean; the waves innocently breaking and coming ashore. The woman snorted; she, Bobby Reynolds, knew its cruel jokes and would not be taken unawares ever again. She had a plan: to simply not go in. Ha!

After a bit of quiet grunts and shorts, Bobby decided just standing here was no good. She didn't want to sunbathe... but neither did she want the beach and ocean to win this battle. That left just one thing... the beach bar!

It took her longer to get there, for though she'd been there before, it had been awhile. After struggling to one of the stools, which creaked ominously underneath her, Bobby pulled over the Guinness that she had grabbed.

As the liquid burned down her throat, the pig let out a happy sigh. Oh, it had been awhile since she had a drink. Bobby thought about as she continued to glare at the ocean.

Joshua Rivers
Joshua had come to visiting the beach quite often since his change, preferring the large open space to the cramped feeling of being indoors. At least he couldn't hit his head on any door frames out here. He didn't have books with him this time, deciding just to go for a walk instead.

He saw, not to far in the distance, some type of structure in the sand. He made his way towards it, curiosity getting the better of him, wondering what could be built on the beach.

As he got closer, he noticed he wasn't the only one on the beach that day. A larger woman was sitting at the bar of the structure, someone he hadn't met before. He didn't like to drink often, so he decided to forgo helping himself to anything, instead stepping up to the bar to introduce himself to the woman. "Hello?" he spoke up timidly, hoping he wasn't interrupting her solitude.

Bobby Reynolds
Bobby was staring intently at the waters and didn't even hear Josh come up. It wasn't until the man was directly in front of her that she noticed... and even then it was a shock to see anyone nearby. She had never been one for thing jumping out at her -though Josh was hardly 'jumping out'.

"AHH!" Bobby screamed in between squeals of surprise. She unbalanced on the stool by leaning back too much. Her Guinness spilled all over the taller man... and the woman was on her way to the ground.

The pig landed quite hard with a loud 'thump'. Gasping for breath, Bobby's eyes were blank as she tried to recall what exactly had just happened. Her heaving was obviously as she tried to force air in and out of her lungs.

Joshua Rivers
Joshua stumbled back quickly in surprise - but not quick enough, his shirt and pants now covered from the Guinness spilled on him. He may have been more upset had the woman not fallen off her seat and to the ground. "Are you alright?" he asked, quickly moving to her side to help her up.

He was shocked to see her features, now that he was able to get a better look at her. He wasn't quite sure what she could be turning into, though... but it didn't seem like it was pleasant at all. "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to startle you..." Joshua bent down and offered the woman his hands for her to take and help her stand back up.

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumi had been strolling the beach alone, finding the sand on her newly changed feet to be calming in a way. She had found, with the webbing and changed size, she also didn't sink into the grains as she would have before... which was interesting in itself. It gave the beach a whole different texture, but other than that... she was there for her human side. She liked watchign the waves and hearing the general sounds that came with the shoreline... It was one thing she could appretiate about the island, and it gave her time to think without being curled up in an angst-ball in her bed.

She slowed to a stop as a loud noise caught her off guard, it wasn't close enough to startle her.. but still there to catch her attention. She moved a hand over her mouth in instinct, hoping the... big-boned woman was alright. Even though there was already a man there helping, she momentarily forgot her thinking time, and hurried over to help.

She got there quickly enough, a bonus to not sinking into sand as easily was that you could run on it better, moving to the oposite side of Josh, barely noticing him for the moment. "Are you alright?" her voice was still heavily accented with Japanese, also slower and more pronounced. However it was understandable, and much better than when she had first arrived.

Bobby Reynolds
Bobby blinked up to Josh, her eyes clearing but not with recognition. "Umm..." the woman started to reach to the man to get up, still clearing her head from the little stars of pain that appeared from the movement. She paused, trying to catch her breath and strength when another strange arrived.

"I... think I am..." this time Bobby put her hoof in Josh's hand and stood up, albeit shakily. She hadn't been this bad on her new feet since her very first changes. Rubbing her other hoof over her enlarged rump, Bobby sighed sadly, "That is definately going to bruise in the morning... if it hadn't already."

With a grunt and forlorn look at the stool she had just fallen from, Bobby turned to the new arrivals. "Oh, I am Bobby," she offered the hoof that had not rubbed her bum almost sheepishly, as if she thought it rude to not offer her name first.

Joshua Rivers
He helped the woman get back to her feet, letting go once he was sure she wouldn't fall back over again. "I'm really sorry," he apologized again, "I didn't mean to scare you like that."

He glanced at the other girl that approached them. Another one he couldn't tell the animal they were turning into, but still obviously changed from human. And Asian, judging by her accent.

"It's nice to meet you, Bobby... my name is Joshua," he said, shaking the woman's hand - hoof.

Natsumi Tanaka
She smiled in releif when she said she was okay. Or atleast thought she was, and she was standing so that was a good sign. She couldn't help but mentally note the other's changes, such as the.. nine? breasts she had. Nor could she miss just how long Josh's arms were. However, she tried to pay them no mind... She thought herself worse than them, after all. One was one's own worst critic.

"Aa." She squeaked when bobby introduced herself. Giving a tiny half-bow in return. "I am Natsumi Tanaka. It is a pleasure to meet you." She gave another bow to Josh as she picked up his name, even if it wasn't directed to her.
She went to take the next turn in shaking the woman's hand, however when she went to take it in hers she found herself met with a problem. Her thumb was webbed to her hand in a way that she couldn't actually put her hand into the position. Glancing down at the problem-thumb she gave a soft noise, like a choked nervious laugh. Then moving her thumb to her hand's side and simply shaking without an oposable thumb. There, that worked... She would have offered her hand to Josh as well, but after that she simply tried to fold them infront of her stomach, still unused to her change.

Bobby Reynolds
Bobby nodded to Josh as well as shook his hand in greeting. When Natsumi tried, the woman smiled encouragingly. Her bottom fangs may have been alittle menacing but the pig didn't really notice anymore. She had gotten used to them, and her sensitivety to such things were deminishing.

"It's alright," the woman waved off Josh with a smile and then went to the back to grab another Guinness, "it's good to be surprised every now and then..." Bobby paused, kicking herself with where that conversation could not intentionally lead. She was also a little intrigued as to her alcohol tolerance in this new body; for she never tested it. "Did either of you want something?"

Joshua Rivers
"It's nice to meet you too, Natsumi," Joshua smiled at the other girl's politeness. He tried his best not to be rude and stare at both women's unnatural features, sitting down at the bar. "Ah, no thank you... I'm not much of a drinker. The way things are going, though, that will probably change in the future," he smiled a little. "Thank you for offering, though."

"So... when did both of you arrive here?" he asked, glancing between the two women. It was hard to tell judging on their appearances how long they have been around, as everyone seemed to change at different rates. He just hoped his were slow... very slow.

Natsumi Tanaka
She relaxed some when Joshua seemed fine with not shaking her hand, ignoring whatever stares she would get, she'd stared enough at the others in her time on the island... It was simply her turn now. She followed his example of grabbing a seat, smile widening when she finally sat. She hadn't realized just how long she'd been on her beach stroll, and as her pregnancy had progressed she found it harder and harder to stand for long periods of time. On that subject, she found herself shifting her sweater, the object was nearly useless in hiding her swell now... Though it was still better than any coverage a normal shirt would provide.

She blinked at the offer of a drink, the set-up was fairly easily reconized as a place to drink, and that thought was only confirmed at the man's decline. Which lead the young girl on a rush of thoughts... In Japan, she would have been old enough to have a drink. But in America, she had heard there was longer... atop of that there was the baby, hadn't that magazine warned her on drinking? "I... I can not." she blurted out, offering a nervious smile. The anxiety of someone finding out she was pregnant hitting her once again, even if no one had cared before. "I got here in may." she nodded, snatching up something else to speak about before someone inquired about why she couldn't drink.

Bobby Reynolds
Bobby shrugged as both decided against alcohol. She was about to walk back around when she grabbed another for good measure. That meant not as much getting on and off those drasted stools! "I've been here since March... though I am not sure what month it is..."

The pig made her way back around, squeezing through the door-gap and back to her stool. "Why can't you, Natsum-" it was then she noticed the swelled belly. Being at her previous height on the ground, and then the hand shakes, the woman had totally missed it before.

Usually, Bobby was not one to stare, but at the sight, she could not do anything but. Both Guinness's fell to the ground and crashed as her grip on them faltered. They went unnoticed. "What..." she whispered, praying to any god that would listen that the woman wasn't pregnant, "what are you turning into?" Hopefully, the extra space was just part of her transformation.

Joshua Rivers
"Well, it's August now... so around six months, it seems. I've been here since May." It was hard to believe he'd been here so long. Time seemed to have gone by quickly, all things considered. Four months, and he still wasn't used to everything here. He didn't think it would ever get easier.

Lost in his own thoughts for a moment, he was startled to hear the crash of the bottles Bobby had dropped. He wondered if it was just because her hooves made things harder to hold (considering his now damp clothes that smelled of alcohol), but looking at her expression, the reason seemed to be different.

Joshua looked at Natsumi too, wondering what Bobby could be staring at. Being male and having never experienced being pregnant (obviously), it wasn't something that even crossed his mind at all.

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumi had simply been listning to the bits of conversation before the noise of crashing liquid caused her to jump. Her last change had made her much more skittish, something in the back of her mind wanted her to hide under something or go dig in the sand but it was ignored for the moment. "Because.. I am not old." there was a momentary pause as her brain tried to place what was missing in that sentance. "Enough." She quickly added with a smile. So it was half a lie, but it worked... Atleast until someone interjected with 'who cares we're all turning into animals.'

She shifted closer to the bar, feeling suddenlyl nervious at the stare. It was easy enough to notice.. and that was the look she always got when people found out. "I am not sure but... A lizard, I think? I have not asked yet." She swallowed, getting a light blush that was unnoticable since her face was already lightly reddened. "What about you?" Her tail twitched from it's position hanging off the stool. Atleast it was conversation... and conversation away from anything about her.

Bobby Reynolds
Bobby's mind seemed one-sided at that moment. A lizard? They wouldn't have a transformation bump, would they? She doubted it. Horror, and absolute sadness took over her look of shock as the pig lifted her glistening eyes to Natsumi's. "I'm so sorry," she whispered, tearing her gaze... the stool all of a sudden looked incredibly interesting. Being a mother of three, she couldn't imagine what Natsumi would be going through. When that child was born... who knew what kind of malformations it would have... Like Natsumi, she all of a sudden didn't want to think about it.

Plastering a half-hearted smile on her face, Bobby looked up and changed the look on her face to a lopsided grin. "I'm turning into a pig," she snorted with no ounce of humor evident in her voice. The woman always thought it was a cruel joke, over and above that she was turning into an animal at all.

She took a step forward, and her hooves crunched broken glass. Bobby looked down, surprised at what she saw. Oh yeah.. she had dropped them because... the pig needed a drink, badly!

Going /back/ around the counter she grabbed a bottle and opened it right there. The bottle was empty before she knew it, and Bobby grabbed another to take to her stool.

She made it this time and struggled once again to sit on it. Her eyes sparkled, some of the moisture still there from before. "Time does seem to fly.... but then again, I feel like it's been a lifetime I've been here. Sometimes..." Bobby sighed, a piggish grunt escaping her throat as well. The pig winced at the sound, as if it phyisically hurt. "Sometimes, I forget what my family's faces even looked like..."

Joshua Rivers
Joshua couldn't shake the feeling as if he had missed something along the way of the current conversation, but he shook the feeling off.

A lizard and a pig... still, Joshua couldn't decide if he was better off or not. If he was one of the 'lucky ones.' Certainly people like Nita and Colche had it a little easier - all things considered, at any rate. They would just grow fur and a tail, plus some alterations to their face... they wouldn't have to gain so much height, or weight, or have their skin completely change.

He felt bad for Bobby, noticing she was upset just talking about losing her family. He was sure, of course, others on the island had to leave their families behind as well. He supposed in that way he was lucky; all he had was his father who had moved away a while ago, and a daughter he never got to see anyway.

"I think we all were forced to leave people we love behind... I've been trying as much as I can to find things to distract myself, and to take my mind off of what is happening here. It's not easy, though... but it's all I can do in hopes that I won't go crazy," he admitted.

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumi flinched at the eye lock, immediatly darting her silver eyes away from the pig-woman with a light frown. She knew, apparently.. and by the sound of her voice she was thinking some of the same things Natsumi'd been pondering. Not to mention it only brought back that unnerved feeling she'd been keeping down. It just.. felt wrong. Which drew her into a silence as her eyes tried to fill with tears again. She hardly knew why... Deciding it was probably just everything building up again.

Her attention was brought back at the mention of Bobby's family. Finding that sad as well, she fidgeted. Depressing thoughts welled up in her mind, ones she'd been desperatly avoiding. Thoughts of her friend's changes, her old family.. her new family. She flinched a bit, shifting her position to look away from teh bar and back out to the ocean. "It is pretty is it not?" her voice was a bit tight as she whipped out the subject change. "The water..." she gestured with a webbed hand, tail twitching.

Bobby Reynolds
Bobby sighed long and hard. "You cannot dwell on things too much, you're right. I guess luckily the pig is easily contented, which helps. I wake up every morning to the picture of my husband and children, but instead of always being down, I try to be strong for them." The woman smiled harshly, thinking about her previous occupation where she had to be strong...or destroyed.

Her heart almost lept to her throat at Natsumi's look. She wanted so badly to wrap her arms -though grotesque as they were- around the woman... but she was worried how the lizard would take it so decided against such actions.

Looking over to the water, Bobby shuddered, remembering her almost-drowned experience with an iguana-girl and shark-boy. "Oh yeah... it's pretty until it tries to kill you!" She gaze a sideways glance to Natsumi, half joking, "Don't let it fool you, that water is a strict taskmaster that gives no quarter."

Joshua Rivers
Joshua smiled at the subject change, glad to be talking about something else other than depressing thoughts. "Yes, it is very beautiful. At least this place has nice scenery..." he had to admit at least that. Although they were trapped here, they weren't locked in cells.

He raised an eyebrow at the pig woman, curious. "Tried to kill you? Did you have an unfortunate encounter with the ocean?"

Natsumi Tanaka
She allowed herself to stare out at the blue colors of the ocean a moment more, tryign to calm her mind and distract her thoughts before she got all emotional. Then Bobby spoke, jerking her head around to stare at the pig-woman. Kill? She personally had never been swimming in the ocean... Was it really that bad? Her continuation confused the forien teenager, lacking the word taskmaster... and why would the water give you currecny? Ignoring that for the time being, she nodded to Josh's question, wondering the same... and also wondering how it could kill someone. She had wanted to swim in it at some point... However dieing wasn't on her to-do list.

Bobby Reynolds
Bobby was torn between yelling and grumbling. She chose in between for the sake of those she just met. It wasn't their fault. "Unfortunate, I'd say... I used to swim all the time, and in the ocean just fine. Evidentally," she gave a dramatic pause, "this body doesn't float too well... I'd think the extra fat would allow for better buoyancy... but that might be with no waves involved."

She ended it with a large gulp of her guinness.

Joshua Rivers
Joshua suddenly felt uncomfortable. He knew better than to make comments or opinions on a woman's weight. He cleared his throat, feeling awkward. "Ah, I see... I'm sorry to hear that... well, I know it's hard to adjust to to dramatic changes that we're all being forced to deal with. I'm still not used to my height, I feel like everything is suddenly too small." He figured Bobby must feel the same way, although not because of her height.

He looked at the younger girl, smiling. "So how have you been handling your changes..? I hope they're not too difficult to get used to. Miss Natsumi, right?"

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumi also knew the general idea to stay away froma woman's weight, though it was perhaps a tad les son her because she was a woman herself.. The only things she could say was how slim that made someone look, or how they weren't fat. However, she wasn't about to bring herself to say either about Bobby... So she simply nodded in understanding, and became thankful when Joshua spoke so she didn't have to.

She found herself lucky she didn't have to deal with not fitting through doors, or needing to sit in water, or having one leg shorter than the other. She smiled some as Josh's question reached her. He was polite, it was refreshing in a way... Even if she had't met anyone she'd consider rude just yet... Except Taro. He'd called her fat. Ignoring that for the moment... "I have been doing well. Colder... And... My food has been a bit different." She fidgeted some at admitting the last part... Though she was steadily becoming more and more okay with eating bugs thanks to Newton, the idea still turned her stomach. She went to nerviously brush a strand of hair behind an ear, only to find nothing. Flinching some she quickly returned her hand back to her lap trying to avoid fussing with her hair anymore. "I can not complain though."

Bobby Reynolds
Bobby was completely able to understand Josh's predicament. She almost immediately pounced on the topic. "I don't think it's you... it's those doors! I am sure they come while we sleep and make them smaller... or shorter," she added the last bit for his special circumstances.

Thankfully, bugs did not appeal to the pig.... though... some other things were disturbing. Bobby took another sip from her bottle. The drink wasn't affecting her yet, but the action alone helped keep her nerves calm.

Joshua Rivers
"Oh, I think we all have a right to complain," Joshua smiled at Natsumi. "You know, I think it's perfectly reasonable to request the doors be made bigger... after all, it's not like we are here by choice. They should at least make us comfortable as possible, right? I noticed there are new taller duplexes... I'm going to request to be moved there. I'm hoping I won't get any taller, but who knows with turning into a giraffe..."

Natsumi Tanaka
She smiled back, a bit releived to hear that from someone she thought looked much worse off than herself. She nodded to what he said, even though she had no reason to change her door... She atleast had a heater to keep her warm when she was cold, and thus figured they should have the right to wider and taller doors. But she kept her thoughts to herself, not too sure how to say it right she simply let it go as she watched the water move up and down against the shoreline.

Bobby Reynolds
Raising her bottle, Bobby nodded, "Here, here! I couldn't have said it better!" The drink wasn't getting to her, but just the setting alone was kind of helping her mood.

"A giraffe?" she eyed Josh, then saw the changes, "Oh, I see! I didn't get that one at first..."

It was at that time that the pig's stomach growled quite insistantly. Holding it with her free hand, a pair of boobs in the way which made Bobby grumble angrily about those; she sighed sheepishly. "I'm sorry... nature calls and I didn't bring in the reserves." Finishing her bottle, Bobby set it on the counter... the only one to survive the encounter. "I hope to see you both around," the pig slid off the stool and then limped a few steps. Obviously, that fall had hurt her more than she let on.

Turning back, Bobby waved a hoof, "I'll see you two around, okay?" Then, she disappeared in search of the cafeteria, snorting through the area to find any snacks along the way. It was all hurried, for the pig was getting hungry.

Joshua Rivers
"Well, it was nice to meet you, Bobby... I'm sure we'll run into each other again sometime," he said, watching the pig woman leave before he turned his attention back to Natsumi. "I think on that note, I should get going too... surprisingly enough I still have appointments to keep, despite being stranded on a tropical island." Joshua stood up, being careful not to hit his head on anything.

"Take care, Miss Natsumi, I'm sure I'll see you around as well," he smiled at the girl before leaving the bar, heading back towards the duplexes.

Natsumi Tanaka
"Yes." Natsumi nodded with a smile, hoping to see Bobby around later as well. Meeting new people always put her in a good spirit... Even if she frowned some upon noticing Bobby's mild limp.

She turned back to Joshua as he spoke, "Alright." She offered a smile, sliding off the stool as well, only to turn back and have to pull the rest of her tail off of it. She wasn't ready to start moving it with her mind yet... She hadn't quite accepted it being part of her, and thus chose to move it as though it were just another article of clothing. "Yes." She nodded, smile returning as she gave him a wave, and watched him go, deciding to head back out along the beach until the cooler night air started in and she'd have to retreat to the warmth of her duplex.

Joshua Rivers
He and Colche had arranged to meet for their daily lessons in the entertainment room this time, and Joshua made his way there from his duplex, ducking his head under the door frame so he wouldn't hit his head. He wondered for a moment how Colche would feel if they just started meeting outside more often instead as he sat down on the couch, stretching his long legs out in front of him with a sigh.

Colche
As usual, the energetic cheetah girl came pouncing in with a furry flurry and a smile. her sweet blue eyes danced happily as she hopped over to the couch and pounced in to the cushions before righting herself and sitting cross legged with a huge grin on her furry maw.

She was in a good mood, her eyes shimmered happily her lips turned in that huge kittyish grin, though her eyes rested, adoreingly on the very tall man that was her teacher, her head tilted back a bit to see his face. "haihai" she pouurrs finally speaking, she was obviously in high spirits for some reason.

Joshua Rivers
He smiled then the cheetah girl pounced onto the couch, setting herself down beside him. "Well, hello there miss Colche, you seem to be more energetic today than usual. Any reason why?" he asked curiously, relaxing back against the cushions with a grin on his face. "Did you bring your book with you?"

Colche
Colche giggled, Josh could be silly sometimes, noone else called her miss Colche. She held out her book, the newest story they had started, the story of mrs Frisby and the rats of Nimh, she grinned nodding vigerously, though she set her book down on the couch in front of her and took a deep breath. "Kinda" She stated wriggling a bit, her tail whacking around behind her. Her tail usually did this little perfomance when she was a bit nervous and though she was full of beans, and quite possibly a hand full of E numbers, she couldn't seem to squeeze out what she was meant to say.

Biting her tongue she turned her gaze on the book, those blue eyes fixed upon the title. She was clearly trying to say something, but it just wouldn't come out. Huffing she picked up the book and held it out to josh, her nerve had failed her, though her adrenelin rush didn't seem to want to fade and she wriggled quite alot more than usual.

Joshua Rivers
"Oh yes?" Joshua wondered if perhaps she just had too much sugar today, causing her to be so hyper. "Did you have a lot of candy before coming to see me?" He smiled as he took the offered book from her, flipping it open and turning the pages to where they last left off. He was proud of how much she has improved since they started her lessons, and even though he didn't want to be trapped here, and even though he thinks there were better ways to have saved the young cheetah girl, he was glad that he could be here to at least help her with this. It was obvious to him that learning made her happy, and he wanted to help her with that.

He noticed her tail twitching quite a lot today, and he glanced at her curiously. "Something on your mind? You can tell me anything, you know," he smiled.

Colche
Colche took a deep breath. She nodded a bit, smarties, they were one of her favourite new sweeties and eating a whole tube full was not a good idea they made her twitchy. Breathing outwards she calmed a bit and looked up at Josh. She didn't want to keep secrets from the man, he was helping her so much but her nerve had gone. Her jaw set solidly and she nudged closer to josh. Biting her tongue for amoment she grabbedehr tail in her furry fingers, looking down at ehr extra, rather naughty appendage, she looked embarressed. Josh certainly knew how to read her now.

Quietly the little cheetah girl mumbled something that was rather incoherent and spoken far too fast under her breath "ilikesujosh" she bites her tongue and peers over his arm in to the book where he had opened the page. If she could have blushed she would have, instead her eyes were full of embarressed silence, her gaze set firmly on the page in question, though she did, shyly peep up at the man to see what his reaction was.

Joshua Rivers
Joshua only blinked at first, he wasn't sure exactly what the girl had said. It took him only a few moments to realize, though, and when he did Joshua just smiled at her. "Well, I like you too, Colche," he said, not understanding the true meaning behind her words. Joshua was rather clueless when it came to that, he wouldn't realize someone was flirting with him unless they were very blunt about it. Besides that, Colche was young, and Joshua has never even considered such feelings towards her. "Is that all that was on your mind?"

Colche
Colche looked a little confused for a moment. Her sweet blue eyes calculating what she had just said and what Josh had replied. pouting for a moment, her ears flattened, she must have said it wrong. Sighing a bit she gave a nod. Why couldn't she just make the words work properly? Licking her lips she leaned against the tall man and pawed at the pages of the book she was reading.

"Uh huh" she whispered at last a half hearted reply, the wind had been knocked out of her sails, she didn't know how to make josh understand what she meant. For a moment, she was quiet, trying hard to think of another way to put it. Swallowing hard her brain ticked over the only idea she had ever fully understood. Clearing her throat she turned those innocent, perfect blue eyes up at the man, "will Josh be prince...for.." she trailed off, she hadlost the wordin her concentration, her brow creased and her tongue peered out between he lips. she was feeling very silly now. She had never felt so embarressed, without the words at her disposal howcould Josh ever understand. Lowering her gaze once again she concentrated hard on the book, trying to make ehrself dissapear in the words, trying to grab the one she needed to complete the sentence. "me" she whispered her voice a silent murr.

Joshua Rivers
Oh.

Oh, that's what she meant.

Joshua suddenly felt uncomfortable. Had he done something wrong? He hadn't been leading her on in some way, had he? Joshua found himself at a loss of what to say. He didn't want to hurt the girl's feelings, but she was... far too young for him. In addition to that, he was practically her teacher. Perhaps not officially as he was only doing it voluntarily, but still.

What was he supposed to say? This was not a situation he was used to dealing with.

He lowered the book down to his lap before clearing his throat to speak. "Colche... normally, when people look for a prince or princess, they try to find someone closer to their own age. I'm certainly not a young man anymore. You're a very nice girl, Colche, and I have no doubt that you will one day find your prince... but I'm not sure that I'm a suitable choice of a prince for you."

Colche
Colche's ears flattened tightly against her black mane of hair. She almost cringed looking crushed, bent in two by the words he spoke. She didn't understand what age meant. She knew she was seventeen, though the acctual understanding of what that meant didn't exactly compute. Perhaps a normal young lady would have complained that she was seventeen, but Colche simply looked at him with a confused blur in her deep blue eyes.

Licking her furry lips the little cheetah girl took a breath and asked the only question which seeped in to her mouth without her even having to think about it "why?" her gaze turned from that of confusion to a deep prying question. She didn't understand, she liked Josh, he was sweet and handsome, he was kind and gentle and looked after her in a way that no man had ever before, he was her teacher and she adored him for that fact. Her heart beat heavily against her ribs and her jaw set in a hard line those deep blue eyes full of the simple question, a question it was doubtful she would understand the answer to.

Joshua Rivers
Joshua felt terrible for having to say these things to Colche. He knew this was going to be difficult to explain to the young girl. Joshua closed the book and took a deep breath. "Well... the reason is that younger people and older people have a large gap of maturity between them." He frowned a little, not sure that Colche would understand what he was trying to say.

"In the stories, the princess falls in love with the young handsome prince, right? She doesn't fall in love with an old king," he tried to explain, not sure if he was making any sense. Trying to explain things by comparing them to fairy tales confused even him. "The king is too old for her, isn't he? And the prince is much closer to the princess' age. The young prince and princess have much more in common with each other because they are closer to the same age."

Colche
Colche's ears twitched slightly, she was confused, she tilted her head a bit a constant pout on that sweet furry face. She didn't understand at all. Josh wasn't old, at least not inher eyes, he didn't have a big grey beard or anything. Licking her lips she shook her head a bit. Far from being stupid Colche wondeerd if the man she liked was making excuses. If she was more experienced in these things she probably would have thought that, but instead she just felt confused and a bit hurt.

Finally, letting Josh's explination mull through her brain her ears perked, a determined lookon her soft maw "I likes you" it was an honest statement, her beautiful blue eyes set sternely on the man, she didn't understand the age difference, to her, Josh was a prince and nothing could change her mind.

Joshua Rivers
Joshua was starting to feel at a loss, how could he make her understand? He didn't want to have to bluntly explain things to her, but he feared that's just what he will have to do. "I'm very sorry, Colche, but I... just don't feel the same way. I think you're very sweet, but you're just too young. I don't think of you that way, Colche... I'm sorry."

Colche
Maybe thats what she was afraid of hearing? Her eyes fluttered to the floor her ears flattening once again against ehr dark flowing hair. She pouted a bit and nodded, she understood that. Josh didn't like her back. Her heart thudded to an untimely stop or so it seemed, her chest tight for a moment, she didn't want to cry but she could feel the tears threatening to roll down her cheeks. Taking a deep heavy breath the little cheetah girl lifted ehr head and nodded, she felt silly. Why would josh like her? No men ever really liked her no matter what they said.

Her eyes misted with the clouds of the past and she smiled weakly, she knew she was being foolish, she knew she shouldn't feel so hurt by Josh's simple reply. Her tail came to a ridgid stop and she swallowed the lump in her throat "Okay" she squeeks trying hard to blink away the wetness in her eyes, forcing her lips in to a half smile. It was okay...

Joshua Rivers
It was impossible not to notice Colche was upset by his response, and he couldn't help the feeling of guilt in the pit of his stomach. He knew there wasn't any other way he could have explained it to him. "I'm... really very sorry, Colche. I wish there was an easier way to explain this, but I'm not sure how." He sighed, taking off his glasses to rub his forehead. This wasn't supposed to have happened. Things were already difficult on this island... why this, too?

Colche
Colche's ears flickered a little, her long tail gave a single flicker. the last thing she wantyed to do was upset Josh. Reaching forwards she touched his hand with her paw like fingers "S'okies" she whispers a smile forming on her lips. She didn't understand, but then there were a thousand and one things she didn't understand, this would just have to join the que. Taking a deep breath and lettign it out with a bit of a humph the little cheetah girl sat tall and let her lips turn in a partially happy smile. "No be sad. I sorry" she puurrs, her brow scrunching, and with her lips pursed, she searched for a word she had never used before. "Just forgets" she whispers her sweet baby blue eyes dancing. She had forgotten alot of things, or at least pushed them to the back of her mind, this would just have to be another one of them.

A slight glimmer of hope came to her though with a quick beat of her heary, maybe, if she learned to talk properly Josh would like her better. With that in mind, she pawed at her book. "reads." she would try even harder. If that was even possible.

Joshua Rivers
It was obvious to Joshua that the cheetah girl was still upset. Of course, he couldn't blame her even though the situation was making him uncomfortable. Despite being more... feline-like, she was still a girl and he had just turned her down. That would upset anyone. But even so, Joshua was all too happy to drop the subject when she said to forget about it. "Alright then... yes, we still have reading to do today." He opened the book in his lap again, turning to the correct page. Joshua then held out the book so Colche could read it easier. "Let's just continue where you left off..."

You feel a strange aching sensation all over your body. It begins, with your neck, as it stretches longer than it already is.

Fur spreads across your entire body, white and orange with darker spots on tsome of the orange, there is no doubt as to what animal it belongs to. Your ears grow larger, rounder, and thinner, even as you feel a swelling in your mouth. A large black tongue dropping out of it. Making it extremely difficult to talk. The middle hoof like nails of your feet expand, getting larger and darker, even as the already small toes beside them grow smaller and more pointless looking. Your tail grows longer even as the tip gets bushier.

But all this isn't as strange as what happens next. You feel a swelling in your posterior followed by your spine arching back, making you stand in an odd position, with your body pushing forward a bit. Your stomach juts forward painfully, as fleshy appendages push there way out from beside it. You watch as they wiggle a bit as they grow and small hoof like nails grow with them as well.

You could defiantly use a good leaf about now...

WHAT ARE THEY!?

Joshua Rivers
If it weren't for the fact that he just couldn't fall back asleep, Joshua would still be in bed right now. Having been rudely woken by another horrible nightmare, he eventually just gave up and got out of bed for the day. Oddly enough, he had been feeling achy all day in addition to his exhaustion, but he couldn't figure out why.

The tall man walked across the center of the village, the pains in his body bothering him enough to request some more pain killers. He didn't understand what he could have done to cause these pains, he was sure it wasn't just because of his age.

After getting a small bottle of aspirin, he placed it in his pocket and began to head back to his duplex, entertaining the thought of making a quick detour to the cafeteria for some food.

Marshall_Green
As the older man entered the Cafeteria, a man half his age was already leaving, a box of Frosted Flakes under his arm and a sketch-book in his hand. The sketch book was filled with doodles, caricatures, and more importantly...comic strips. Even if no one would ever see them, Marshall felt some since of duty in drawing them.

...He just happened to always get inspired to draw while he was eating.

Marshall stopped dead in his tracks, however, as he saw a long-armed, long-necked man walking towards him. Marshall was slowly getting use to his bizarre new neighbours...But this guy was about three times taller than him!

Woooaaaahhh...THATS SO COOL!

Joshua Rivers
Joshua almost didn't see the other man leaving the cafeteria, nearly walking into him - thankfully, he's learned to walk while looking down slightly so he wouldn't run into anyone. Of course, most people weren't so short that he had to crane his neck too far, but looking straight ahead he was bound to overlook someone turning a corner or entering rooms.

"Oh," he said, surprised to see someone so... human looking. He wondered how much about the island this man knew about... at least he wasn't running away in terror. "Hello. I assume you are new here?" he asked.

Marshall_Green
Marshall looked up at the very tall man talking to him. He knew it wasn't natural, the man looking so disproportionate...But still, he couldn't help but find it cool. Marshall has a strange fascination with tall people, for god knows why.

"Um...Yep. Name's Marshall...You?" Marshall said, extending a hand to the tall man...What EXACTLY was he turning into? Some sort of tree?

Well...He IS old...Maybe he's like...Turning into an Old Oak...That'd make sense...

Joshua Rivers
He reached out and shook the shorter man's hand in greeting. "My name is Joshua. Used to be Professor Rivers before the island, but..." he shrugged slightly, wincing a little at the pain in his stomach. Now that he thought about it, it seemed to be getting worse.

"So, how long have you been here... Marshall?" he asked, moving to sit down on a nearby bench. He moved slowly, carefully lowering himself to take a seat. He was starting to feel a little sick, and his face seemed pale.

Marshall_Green
"A little over a week now, I guess." Marshall said, not really keeping track of how long he'd been here. It hadn't been that long, really. Though he'd done some interesting things in the past few days...

"Hey...Are you feeling okay, Professor Rivers?" Marshall asked the man, finding that it was more fun to call him Professor instead of just "Josh". He was kind of quirky that way.

Joshua Rivers
Joshua almost smiled when Marshall called him Professor, but the pains in his stomach were getting more severe. "Actually, I... I'm not sure... my stomach is... ughh..." he broke off with a groan, clutching his stomach, trying to make the pain stop even though he knew holding it would do no good.

Fur began to spread over his body, white and yellow with darker orange spotted patterns decorating his fur. It began on his neck, spreading up to cover his face, horns and ears, and then downwards, over his shoulders and chest, all along his arms and legs.

Despite the itching it caused, Joshua himself didn't seem to take too much notice. Instead he was struggling - and failing - to restrain his cries of pain, it felt like something was trying to burst through his stomach. "Oh god..." He knew what was happening, though. He recognized it, he was changing again - what else could cause him this much pain?

Marshall_Green
Marshall's eyes widened, as he backed up, dropping his sketch-book and spilling the box of Cereal that would've been his breakfest for the next few days. He lost his footing, his right sandal being left behind as he scooted backwards, terrified.

Oh god...THIS is a change?!?!

Joshua Rivers
The hooves on Joshua's feet began changing, the hard nails growing thicker and looking less like toes and more like cloven hooves. His ears stretched out longer, thinning out and becoming more movable than a human's ears. He screamed out as his neck grew longer - thankfully, not as much as the first time, but it was still extremely painful, like someone was grabbing his head and pulling as hard as they could.

His tail was next, the fur at the end becoming longer and his tail growing out further. It looked much more like a tail now, and it swished wildly behind him, twitching uncontrollably.

An odd sensation filled his mouth then, still painful as his tongue swelled and grew longer, becoming darker and almost black in color. He couldn't fit all of it inside his mouth anymore, the appendage hanging out of his mouth as he screamed.

It seemed to be almost over...

Marshall_Green
You can prepare your self mentally for it for ages.

Coax yourself into a little cocoon. Hell, you can almost make yourself look FOWARD to your change.

But then? The entire facade can be destroyed with one simple little thing.

...Like seeing it happen to some one else.

Marshall couldn't let out a scream. His eyes were bulging out of his head. He didn't even notice that he lost a shoe. All he did was stare at Professor Rivers. This wasn't happening. He knew this wasn't happening. Any moment now he'd wake up in his bed...No, no point lying to himself. This was real. It was happening. All around him.

"Is..." Marshall cleared his throat, stepping over the debris of cereal and picking up his sandal, slowly getting to his feet, "I-Is it over?"

Joshua Rivers
"I... I..." Joshua tired to say, 'I don't know,' but he couldn't catch his breath long enough to get out the entire sentence. Of course, if he had said yes, he would have been wrong. A jolt of pain shot down his spine and he gasped, falling forward off the bench and onto his hands and knees. His back seemed to arch downwards, his entire torso pushing forward, his spine shifting to make for an awkward posture.

But it didn't end there, and the worst pain of all came back full force around his abdomen. Two small, stubby arm-like appendages burst forth from his sides, twitching from the new muscles forming. They pushed against his white button down shirt painfully, and he quickly pulled it open, buttons popping off to allow less restraint on the... things... growing from his abdomen. Joshua could do nothing but stare in horror as the nails on the small stubs grew thick nails on them, similar to the ones on his feet, but smaller.

When the changes finally stopped, Joshua felt queasy - the combination of the transformation and the sudden growth of these new... things becoming too much for him. He managed not to get sick - yet, anyway - still in too much of a state of shocked to react properly. His whole body ached as much, if not more, as it did the last time... and this was only his second time.

Marshall_Green
Its...Okay...Its okay...Its really okay... Marshall repeated in his head, over and over again. He was shaking with fear, espically after that second little burst of change...And what were those things sticking out of his stomach?!

Thats going to be ME one day...

"D-Do you need any thing?" Marshall stuttered, legs frozen in fear. He wasn't sure what to do...

Joshua Rivers
It took a few moments for Marshall's words to register that he did, indeed, just speak to him. The normally calm Professor seemed to still be in a state of shock and at a loss for words, but slowly he was collecting his senses again. "Wha--" he tried to talk, but it was difficult to form words now. His tongue was too big to fit inside his mouth and when he tried to talk, it sounded like he had a cold. Joshua struggled to form his words correctly.

"What... what are they..!?" Some part of him knew what the appendages looked like, but his mind couldn't accept what he was actually seeing. "I'm... I'm supposed to be..." Joshua trailed off and lifted a hand up to grab one of the small legs, gasping out in pain when he gripped it too hard. He immediately let go.

They were real. They were attached to him. He couldn't seem to control them very well, every now and then one of the small stubs would twitch suddenly.

He looked up at Marshall as if he expected the other man to have some sort of answer for him. This wasn't in any books he's read about giraffes.

Marshall_Green
Marshall opened his mouth to say some thing. Any thing. But it was like some one had stolen his voice. He couldn't even form a word, let alone a complete sentence. Carefully, he took a step foward, looking over the man's changes.

What WAS he, exactly? This was almost as confusing as seeing Alec's leaves.

"Uh...Um...Professor Rivers, you, um..."

...I think...They're feet?

Joshua Rivers
Slowly, Joshua got back onto his feet - he used the bench to support himself, having difficulties standing up straight. His hips were positioned awkwardly now, and he felt unbalanced, like his center of gravity was off. He looked down at himself again. "They said... I was supposed to be a giraffe..." That had, at least, given him an idea of what to expect; but not this...

He didn't understand what was going on, feeling completely unravelled by this new development. Maybe there had been some sort of mistake? How many times have they tried to turn someone into a giraffe before? What if he was just a test subject gone wrong? Could they fix this what was wrong with him?

Marshall_Green
Marshall's mouth was dry. He couldn't even deny it, they were definitely feet. But feet growing out of one's stomach? That was just...odd. Bizarre, even. Slowly, Marshall walked towards the man.

"Um, Professor Rivers, I...I...Um...I'm not sure...I'm not sure what to do...But, um...Do you need help getting back to your duplex, maybe?"

I SUCK UNDER PRESSURE!!!

Joshua Rivers
"I... yes, I think I could use some help, please..." he replied slowly to the younger man. Joshua's mind was having a difficult time adjusting to his changes this time - and to think it was bad enough the first time... He almost felt ashamed that Marshall had to see him like this. It wasn't like him at all - but then again, he didn't look like himself anymore, either. "If you could just get me to my duplex, I... I think I will be alright from there."

Marshall_Green
"O-Okay then...Um, just gotta tell me where it is." Marshall said, positioning himself under one of Josh's arms to help escort him back to his living quarters. He couldn't find the right word to describe what he was feeling. It was terrifying on one hand, to see some one change. But to hear the changed person still talk normally...To see that underneath it they were still human...Well, it was almost calming to Marshall.

I just hope I never see it again!

"So, um, Professor Rivers...Um...What didja teach? At college, I mean..." Marshall said, trying to start up a conversation.

Joshua Rivers
"I'm in duplex 43... it's on the bottom floor," Joshua said, glad that he wouldn't have to walk up any stairs. He wasn't sure he would be able to right now - not alone, at any rate. He tried not to lean his weight against the shorter man, resting his hand on Marshall's shoulder as they began to walk towards his duplex. He took careful, slow steps with his heavy hooves.

Joshua was slightly taken aback by the question. Teach? Oh, right. I'm a teacher. Was a teacher. "I taught English Literature," he murmured his reply, still trying to get used to his longer tongue. It was strange to be talking about something so normal during such an... abnormal situation. But Joshua liked normal. Normal he could handle. But this... was almost surreal.

Marshall_Green
"Heh heh...Y'know, I should've figured that. You kinda talk like an English teacher." Marshall said, still leading the tall (abnormally so) man back to his duplex. He felt a ping of regret for not cleaning up the mess he left, AND how he was acting like nothing was wrong.

He just didn't know HOW to react to this kind of thing. He could easily freak out and run, but that would make him a coward and a slime. So, in his own weird logic, he figured that NOT running off AND acting like nothing really happened, made him just weird.

I rather be bizarre than a coward...

Joshua Rivers
"Do I?" Joshua asked curiously. He never thought that English teachers spoke a particular way - or at least, he didn't think that he spoke in any particular way. He was grateful that Marshall hadn't freaked out too badly in front of him. Joshua thought that would have just made things worse, as he was already having a hard time with it.

When they arrived at Joshua's duplex, he unlocked the door and pushed it open, carefully lowering his head to step inside the room. His neck had grown only very slightly more, but it still made the room feel even smaller than it was. He definitely needed another place to live. What if he changed again, and his neck grew even more..?

No, don't think about the next change. Not yet. Just deal with one thing at a time.

Joshua had curled up his tongue to fit inside his mouth, but it only made him feel like he had something too large and thick inside his mouth. It was uncomfortable, but he figured he would have to deal with it for the sake of not disturbing others who saw him. "Thank you for helping me, Marshall... I am sorry you had to see that," he said, his speech a little slower than normal to get used to speaking all over again.

Marshall_Green
"N-no! Don't apologize! Really! Um...I'm down at 59. So, um, if you need any help with any thing, just call or some thing, y'know?" Marshall said, rubbing the back of his neck. "You, um, probably want to like...get some sleep or some thing. So...I'll see you later, Professor Rivers." Marshall said, waving slightly as he left, making sure he got the door behind him.

Marshall stood outside, staring at the ground. He felt sick. Like he wanted to scream. To curse the world. He knew Josh was still Josh, and he took comfort in that...But, seeing that.

"Wh-when will it happen to me?" Marshall muttered alloud, as he took that long, long walk back to his duplex, staring at the ground the entire time.

Joshua Rivers
"Okay... thank you again, Marshall, for your help," Joshua said, and he watched as the younger man walked away before closing the door. With a sigh, he locked it. He wasn't ready to see anyone quite yet. He glanced at the intercom. He wanted to talk to one of the doctors on the island, but now that he was back in his duplex - his home - he suddenly felt how very tired and worn out he really was from the change.

He walked over to his bed, neck and back arched forward to keep from hitting the ceiling and to keep from stumbling too much. Joshua carefully lowered himself onto the mattress, moving to lay on his side, still the most comfortable position and the best way for him to fit most of himself on the bed. For a moment he worried that he would be to restless to sleep, despite how tired his body felt.

But it was in that moment - before he even realized it - that he succumbed to slumber, eyes too heavy to keep open anymore.
