I shall list the reasons why I do not support this.
1) In the new thread, I promised that it would be less spammy. I believe that is what we all wanted, correct? Well that failed. You guys all turned it in to your own personal chatroom.
2) I am pretty bad about remembering to update things. I take responsibilty for making the thread, and that it was wrong of me to do so without consent; but what is done is done. If a mod is in charge, it will make it much easier to update.
3) I gave Lolli my permission to use anything she wanted to on the first page. Since everybody complimented me on how good it looked, I am confident that the new thread will look just as good.
4) The Official Green Day Thread should be about discussing Green Day. Not how your school day went, not about anything but the band, or band-related things. A little off-topic chat is okay, if it is spawned by something to do with Green Day; but it is optimal to keep that to a minimum.
5) I know you guys are upset about losing the first Official Thread, and you don't want to lose the second one; but we are all to blame for it's "failure" in the eyes of the regulars and the mods. You have to remember that the music forum is for music discussion, and the chatterbox is for chit-chat. You have to keep that in mind when posting in Official Threads.
6) When it really comes down to it, it is just a silly thread, on a silly forum. On the grand scale of things it's importance is minimal. I humbly request that you do not make such a fuss about this. You are just going to create negative attention, and I am sure you don't want that. There are plenty of things on Gaia alone that deserve more attention than protesting a new official thread.
I agree with Ibun. I can't sign this petition for the above reasons.
Also, Ibun specifically made a chatterbox thread to spam into. He gave everyone the opportunity to still talk about the fun little things. It's only the regulars's fault for not doing so.
Lolli's right, actually. It draws people away. I know that I've even started avoiding the official thread because of the stupid nonsense from some "regulars".
Plus, just because other official threads are a certain way doesn't mean ours has to be also. So the part about, "well, OTHER official threads are spammed!" has no real backing. This is our official thread. I know that I don't like all the spamming in it, although I at least can own up to spamming in the old one. At least I can acknowledge that fact.
Secondly, a mod would be a great person to start the thread. It has no competition over who's the thread creator (last time that was a ******** wreck), and the mods are extremely helpful if there was a first-post update needed.

What do you think this is? This is input about it. But the mods have power over all of us. Petitions won't really help much.
