Thanks lithle! I actually agree with you. I've gone back and made some modifications to her powers that hopefully clear some things up. I've also removed her spying power...I may or may not train her to do that later on, but I think it may have been a bit much to start off with.
Shadow-shifting is a slow process, not instantaneous. That was definitely something I should have mentioned before... sweatdrop

I didn't read the first version but the powers still seem really strong. I understand that it's not an instantaneous thing but it basically leaves everything open for her invasion if she felt the whim or need. It is a VERY powerful thing and needs to be played carefully. I don't think it would be a problem as long as the extent of her powers was restrained to her own storyline.. I could see people threatened if their character ended up victim to this really strong power.
I also slightly have an issue with the fact that her daemon 'aims to kill'. I just hope there is some line ... a very thick line.. that keeps him from attacking anyone who is against his child. We have quite a few shady and unagreeable characters in this place!

Thanks for the advice Halo. I've made a few revisions to Mortality's personality that won't make him an abject killer. He's still got a temper, but he won't necessarily kill unless someone is trying to kill Maya. It's a protective thing...at least I hope it comes off that way now. sweatdrop
I really wasn't planning on having her invade anyone else's space...at least any other Forgotten. Most of the shadow shifting I'd have her do would involve her own plotline. There would really be no need for it on Gaia, save for her turning, say, a piece of grass into a daisy to give to her Mom or something... It was going to be quite limited in that respect. And, I suppose, once she gets out and adventures more, she could bring anyone else with her---if they wanted to go of course. There'd be no forceful RP of Shadow-shifting, most definitely. 3nodding

Good to know ^_^ . I really have no problem with powerful characters or abilities that are strong. My boy will end up being VERY powerful.. but it's the use and abuse I really get concerned with. As long as it is well guarded and controlled.. all is well.

With power... my OC is certainly powerful, but she never uses her powers, so she's the same as a powerless character, and my Feedee are pretty harmless themselves. xP Likewhoah, the relationship between powerful and harmless Feedee... I wonder how those are/would be. o_o *blinku*

Comments: Maya sounds so powerful, and I guess you designed her to be powerful with some limitations. No issues there IMO since you did add an explanation of her abilities. I've never read any of the books her excerpt comes from/is connected to, so I have no idea what they're all about. But I'm a little confused about her brothers and siblings. Does this mean they'll be coming to Gaia at some point?
Personality-wise Elias so totally has to meet her! biggrin He'll probably end up arguing with her a lot since he tends to "shoot now, ask questions later" xd
I like Mortality :3 he sounds muy muy awesome, design and personality-wise biggrin

Like other people said she seems tres powerful, but! So long as you don't abuse it and acknowledge the level at which the power is then you're all cool, right?
I'd also like to see why brother and sister have such feelings of hatred toward each other! After all, it seems like it's quite the plot twister and I wanna know what got their eggs boiling (because I know no matter how much I despise one of my brothers I'd never bring myself to kill 'em!).
Other than that I like Maya! A gead strong girl is always good and for some reason I can see Nathan respecting that biggrin .
The ONLY thing that worried me about her was when you said "If someone surprises her she might kill them with her knife" or something like that and I thought that was a little bit much. No one should be that antsy! Perhaps throw a punch, but the knife thing scared me mad d.

I won't reveal any past hatred for awhile. Some things must be mysterious, eh? Her brothers and sisters MAY show up on Gaia, looking for her at some point...because well, she's a wanted woman...
But that's really far far in the future.
Aah, yes, the hidden dagger passage! She may attack, but she probably won't kill. She's not really a killer...She's mostly going to be running away. LOL.
I went back and read through that part, because I didn't remember putting it quite like "kill them with her knife". hehe. But yeah, Maya's definitely paranoid and very jumpy. I'd say the dagger probably won't show up until she's a teen. Until then, she may slap/punch someone...but Mortality would probably trip them first. xd

Well, the nature and origin of her powers have to do with the Pattern and the Logrus. That's where the power comes from in its most basic form. BUT, the Logrus and the Pattern just didn't appear out of nowhere...They are the basis of the entire Universe, and someone did create them. 3nodding Anyways, it's long and complicated, and I'll eventually explain more. For now though, I think it should remain a mystery! xd
