Vinnie, Clarence, and Aaron! the recurring characters on this show rock!
This episode was really intense, but still didn't give the emotional impact of last years. This year's mystery was all over the place. Still for the most part I liked it, but I had my issues
First, I really liked Beaver as the culprit. I had been suspecting more and more there was more to him in the evil sense and saw it even more on rewatch. I think they did a good job foreshadowing it and foreshadowing the sexual abuse. He's the only that it could make sense to be and have us actually care. Still I was surprised so it wasn't a let down, but not out of nowhwere either. Where they lost me was the stupidity of the roof scene. The acting was awsome and it was intense, but that's where a lot issues came that bugged me.
First Veronica totally pulled a Velma and gave us all the exposistion that she came up with in the last ten minutes and says it all right to Beaver like he isn't going to kill her because he will be so impressed. Then they retconned the rape which bugged me because I actually liked how ATTD was resolved and I feel like they ruined it just to make Beaver responsible for everything. Plus they haven't been the best at handling and refrencing the rape so going down that path doesn't seem like a smat idea. I also didn't like his reason for bombing the bus. I'm not sure I buy that Marcos and Peter would force him into that, when most abused victims understand and they probably could have done whatever they planned with just their two testimonies. And then why did he wait so long to kill them? Why did he have to kill the whole bus just to kill them? Then he goes off and blows up Keith even though no one believes he's dead. First there's the fact that hello he's KEITH, and if they did decide to go all 24 kill beloved characters, he would at least get some scene before he died, like a shot of him just sitting on the plane and it would have been much more dramatic and gory.
I also don't like Veronica and Logan getting back together off screen. I don't mind them getting back together (although I was kind of hoping they wouldn't yet especially when there's the risk of this being another off screen summer romance in which there was lots of drama that we don't get to see). After trauma like that and a person being there with you through every step of that trauma, issues sometimes seem small and unimportant and Logan was there the whole time (which BTW, Logan can cook? huzzah?) so I buy it fine, but I would like to actually see it. If L/V are epic and they want to play it out that way why to they reunite off screen? I feel cheated out of all the emotion and drama in if they had a "talk" or even some major kiss.
Tsunuffy
Also, I wanted to mention my intellectual disgust with the way Veronica tried to warn Mac about Beaver. Oh, my God, so STUPID. YOU DO NOT WARN IN THE VOICEMAIL OR TELL HER VIA TEXT MESSAGES! BECAUSE THOSE WAYS CAN BE INTERCEPTED!
I feel like they didn't clear up all the mysteries and red herrings like they did last year, but I can't find a specific example. Maybe I just feel that way since the mysteries were kind of disjointed this year and didn't have the same emotional investment.
And the dream was nice but got a little cheesy. Does Veronica think that if she and Wallace were never friends he would not have clear vision or something? Did she give him the inspiration for contacts? I don't know, it was a dream so maybe the glasses are a subconcious symbol of her need to...see? Yeah I don't know.
Ok all the issues are out I think.
I like Duncan again! He wasn't weird and I didn't have a problem with his acting. His ordering a hit on Aaron was also kind of awsome. And of course we all love the CW exchange. I was kind of sad that they killed Aaron because he's such an awsome villan that there was so many plots they could do with him out, but it was still a great scene. Clarence is a BAMF and I never use that term. Hope to see more of him on the 3rd SEASON WOO!
Alicia! I thought you vanished into the air or entered a blackhole! Please come back more.
Hee d**k! I'm kind of interested in what his reaction to Beaver will be. "They're upstiars probably making love, or playing Dungeons and Dragons- or both"
Steve Guttenberg really sold the creepy, still not as awsome as Harry Hamlin though.
Lilly! I miss you! I wish I got HBO to see Amanda Seyfried on her new show.
Aw, Clemmmons. I'm going to miss him. Hopefully there will be a dean at Hearst to replace the void.
Oh Lamb's an a**! That scene with Weevil was awsome and heart breaking. I wonder if they will be able to pin the murder on him. Funny how he went to great lengths so he wasn't the direct murder, and he still got caught. Oh and someone upthread asked if he was dead but he wouldn't have been on the plane. They weren't in his jurisdiction, he just called Keith off of it, but Lamb wasn't on it either, so more Lambness.
I'm assuming that since Kendall is part of the cliffhanger all that stuff with her and the stuff surrounding the Fitzpatricks will be cleared up so yay. And finally her character has been given a point!
I love Mac. It just feels like it needs to be said even though she didn't really do much awsomeness this ep. She kind of makes me miss Meg though since we met both of them in LAV and they were both her first girl friends since her outcast status.
Radnom shallow note: Logan looked very muscley this ep.
