I'm pretty sure 'she' counts as female - unless they're actually trying to say 'shhhhip' but never got to the end of the word. There is no meaning for 'she' except in reference to females.

ninja I'm only saying this cos I think the idea of them only going after females cos ships are spoken of as female is a pretty cool idea and fits with the other bizarre reasons the robots came up with for doing what they do.

Damn i submitted the post before I finished. And now I've forgotten what it was. Damnation

Why are we all assuming they were solely planning on using Rose? Surely if they didn't need Mickey they wouldn't have bothered capturing him-it's not in their protocol to go around taking hostages after all, merely to acquire materials. I think they were planning on using both of them but only had the equipment or capacity to deal with one victim at a time. That's the kind of straightforward logic you'd expect from a machine.

I HATED this episode. It was so out of character for the Doctor to 'fall in love' isn't he not supposed to do this? Isn't he supposed to be in love with Rose? At one point in the episode he was ready to go through to Madame de Pompadour and leave Rose and Mickey behind.

Actually, he was going to bring Reinette on to the TARDIS along with Rose and Mickey.

I read an interview with Steven Moffat in DWM 383 (I think) where he was asked this and he just said "Have you ever MET a man!?" If you think about it, the Doctor does have strong feelings for Rose, but I don't think he can admit to himself that he loves her.

He's male, though, which is what I think Steven meant...
