Doujinshi
Actually, you hear the same thing happening in most bands.
Usually live performance it's the other way around
so yeah.
They get their share of the spotlight. xP

haha, that was probably already said
but I'm too lazy to read through ALL of that. DX

xD I was too lazy too xD.

@AtsushiisSATAN: That's what I said xD

ohhh, I have to change my settings sad

I'm too lazy for that. But it doesn't matter, Dir en Grey sounds good, I was just thinking about that.

I mean... say in Malice Mizer. I dunno if this is unfair or anything, but Mana is called the "composer" which is why he writes most of the songs. The others have written songs, but Mana's written the most. Plus, some songs don't even have vocals just to "even it out" or something.. or maybe MM are the real unfair ones for leaving Klaha out of a couple songs.
Also, since there are the "dual guitars" thing in MM songs, where each guitar plays a different tune; if one guitar is taken out, the song would be very different.
Then again, in MM songs... there are accordians and organs and harpischords... sweatdrop

the thing is malice mizer and Dir en Grey are two completely diffrent bands malice mizer is more of a gothic/classical band they mix classical music with what i suppose would be gothic rock and there were time not only during klaha where they had completely instrumentals and i love instrumentals to death but they're not as powerfull as the ones with klahas or gackts voice so there not being unfair most people who are mm fans perfer the songs with lyrics over the ones without and i agree with the dueling guitars style especialy ( cannot spell) in shiroi you never lose either guitar they both create a melody but again with this style the bass and the lyrics are usually lost so they tend to only use that in solos so the thing is lyrics can be the more prominent thing in music but they hardly ever OVERPOWER the other parts while a guitar or piano can and the thing with bass and drums, drums are meant to keep time and bass are used to keep rythim and if any of this made any sense at all its a fikkin miracle anyway bye bye

@Iyami_of_Ra: Isn't Die normally rhythm guitar? @_@ I get confused.

@Kirimoto: I think when Klaha joined Malice Mizer, he was more of an element of a contract rather than a band member. It's rather sad, but from the stuff I read concerning MM, it seemed like they got him simply for the convenience of having a vocalist. Perhaps they viewed him as a side-dish, and that's why they had a whole lot of songs without vocals. I dunno...I really hope it wasn't like that. crying

@Stalebreadcrums: Yeah, somehow I can always hear the bass in a Dir en grey song, no matter how obscure it is (haha - Obscure). Could it be that I'm just infatuated with Toto? *blush*

Well, you've got a point... it really is like that, to an extent. To tell the truth, I've heard that Klaha was the back-up singer and they just promoted him after Gackt left.
Yeah, I guess Klaha was just a guy to fill in the vocals section. The only album released with Klaha was Bara no Seidou, and most of the songs are instrumentals on that album.

Okay, I've rambled on enough about Malice Mizer... sweatdrop

That's the way it is is in most songs. Most of the time the bass gets drowned out unless it has melody. That happens in most music actually.

In classical music, for example, there's melody and other stuff like bassline, patner melodies, etc. Naturally whoever has the main melody[usually Kyo, because you need to hear lyrics] should be heard over the rest of the band, but bass and everything else is still needed to provide a fuller sound.

The reason you don't hear the bass as much is probably just because Totchi doesn't have as much of the dynamic moving basslines like he used to, so he tends to fade into the backround.

I can still hear him. 3nodding

blaugh regaurdless of any harshness you may recieve I want to let you know I totally agree. The lead singer can be the least talented, and do the least, and learn the least about music, but if he's got an unusually obnoxious voice and hot abs, he's get much more attention and love than the others. He wins out over the real musicians of the band because as we all know, in the world of music, words, looks, and dancing are key... [/sarcasm]

That's not just with Dir en Grey. That is with most bands. It's just that the singer is the one doing the most onstage, well, at least sometimes. In regards to Dir en Grey, I can say that when I saw them live, Kyo stood out the most because he was all over the stage while the other members mostly stood in one spot and flipped the audience off which was cool though. In reagards to the bass however, I think Dir en Grey is one of the only bands that let the bass stand out. Yes we all know the bass solo in Cage but what about the other good bass parts like the one in Children or in Itoshisha ha Fuhai Nitsuki? Then again it could just be because the bass is my favorite instrument so I am just able to pick it out easily.
