Welcome to Etansel's first rehoming event! We've got two lovely cores that no longer have a home, that need to be placed. However, since these two Jumi were involved in other Jumi's stories, we would rather them go to an owner. We feel that an owner can handle these Jumi better than a newcomer, as they know their personalities more.
New and old owners are all welcome to join, but please keep in mind that these Jumi already have some background to them.

Info

Starting Date/Time: Now, kthx.
Ending Date/Time: May 3rd, exact time undecided
Entry Fee: There is none! Interest is enough!

Prompts

Rose Quartz

User Image

The first Jumi needing a new home is the loving and cheerful Mesmerelda of Rose Quartz. She was one of the first Jumi to be restored to Etansel. Pretty in pink, Mes loves to love. Boy-crazy would be a bit of an understatement, as this girl throws herself at anyone as long as they're male and have a pulse. She is also loving when it comes to her friends and family, and loves to spend time having fun with them. Beware though, anyone who harms those Mesmerelda cares about- or worse, makes her look bad in front of a potential date- will likely get a taste of her wrath.

Prompt 1

It is Mesmerelda's first day in your household, but she hasn't arrived yet. Your Jumi is very excited about the new addition to the family, and begins talking. What does (s)he say? Do they relate a story of a previous encounter with the Rose Quartz Jumi? Or an imagined tale? When Mesmerelda arrives, do you find the story to be true or false? How does Mesmerelda react to the story?

Prompt 2
It's an important day for your first Jumi: they're about to breed! With Mesmerelda in the household, things are sure not to be normal. How does she react to your first Jumi getting a partner before her?

Opal

User Image

A far cry from Rose Quartz's extroverted romanticism, Rinsei of Opal is calm and cool-headed. She prefers spending time with nature to anything else, and can often be found outside, no matter what the weather is like. That said, she does not dislike human company, and enjoys being with those who are closest to her. Rin is quiet, and only speaks when she has something important to contribute. Those who overly chatty sometimes confuse this Jumi, but she tries to be open with everyone.

Prompt 1

Rinsei has recently arrived and is settling into the household well. Yet one day, when you look for her, the Opal Jumi is nowhere to be seen. How do you react? Where do you look for her? Where is Rinsei eventually found, and why was she there? How does she react to you finding her?

Prompt 2
You happen to live in a crowded city when you take Rinsei into your home. After a while of living with you happily, she suddenly becomes very gloomy. How do you help her out of this melancholy state? How does she take to this?

Prompt 1
Rinsei has recently arrived and is settling into the household well. Yet one day, when you look for her, the Opal Jumi is nowhere to be seen. How do you react? Where do you look for her? Where is Rinsei eventually found, and why was she there? How does she react to you finding her?

Getting lost in a book is commonplace for Shi on a lazy afternoon such as this. After a morning full of chores and running after Zydeth to try and keep him from using those sticks he calls 'practice weapons' inside the house, she was more than happy to curl up on the window seat with her latest obsession and absorb a few more chapters. Before she gets too lost to cease thinking about the rest of the world, Shi reasons that since Rinsei is with Nyn upstairs and Zydeth said he'd be working on his writing in the library, all will be well with the world if she retreats into her book for a few hours.

Apparently the Mozou has never included a book about raising children in her repartoire, otherwise she'd have known beforehand that to leave those who are young and inexperienced to their own devices is not necessarily the wisest thing in the world to do. Yet what's done is done, and she's so deep into the story of her novel that she doesn't hear the crash of the ink pot in the library, nor the scurrying of feet as Nyn scrambles downstairs to investigate the noise. She doesn't even catch Zydeth's apology to her Mozou sister, or the scraping of ceramics against the wooden floor as Nyn gets Zydeth to start cleaning up his mess. The slow opening of the front door also passes by her notice, as does the gentle closing of the same.

Funny how it's the little things that snag one's attention in situations like this. Like the press of Nyn's cold nose against one of the larger pads of Shi's right foot. Shi hisses in momentary anger at the abrupt intrusion upon her reading, but the glare she had fully intentioned to fry Nyn's eyes with is gone the moment she sees the worry in her sister's body language. Nyn may be the quiet sort, but she's also not prone to be a worry wort. That something has her concerned usually means that the concern is warrented, and so Shi's bookmark is slid into place and the book set aside for a later date. "What is it?" she asks softly, glancing up when she hears the slap of bare feet against the floorboards coming their way.

Zydeth stops a short distance from the two Mozou and answers for Nyn, as he's taken to doing since getting settled into this odd little family. "We can't find Rinsei anywhere, momma. She was supposed to wait for me upstairs, so I could show her the letter I wrote for Tsumi." His disappointment at Rinsei not keeping her promise is evident in the pout that is working its way on dominating his lower lip with the slightest of quivers. This is a look that never fails to get Shi's sympathy, even if she doesn't always act on it.

"That's unlike her," Shi replies with a narrowed glance at the staircase. Rinsei is usually so dependable. She's lost track of how many times she's found herself thanking whatever star decided to shine upon her the day Rinsei came into her care. Without Rinsei's help, the orchard likely would have never had a real chance, since Shi's understanding of gardening is only through reading about it instead of life experience or even interest. "Did you look outside? She could be in the garden, as that is her favorite place on the property."

Zydeth nods as Nyn does, and both starting at almost the exact same time. For Shi, the effect is rather eerie. "That's the first place we checked. We even looked in the back, and in the storage building. She isn't anywhere!"

Nyn worries the floor with her front paws, her claws scrabbling on the wood before a disapproving look from Shi prompts her to stop. "Our cub is gone," Nyn states flatly, her tail thwapping against Zydeth's thigh as it swings like a clock's pendulum. She blames herself, as hadn't she appointed herself to keep Rinsei company while the Jumi adjusted to living with them? She'd gone to scold Zydeth, and left Rinsei all alone. She can only imagine how lonely Rinsei must have gotten in order for her to sneak off like this. "We must find her."

Shi need not remind herself that the fact Nyn is actually talking means that the Mozou wishes her words complied with, and in an immediate fashion. She knows Nyn better than anyone, so she doesn't bother arguing that they are unlikely to find Rinsei anytime soon, what with them being foreigners on Fa'Diel and Rinsei likely knowing more hiding places than Shi can count. No, there is no point in arguing now. Shi nods her agreement with Nyn and heads upstairs to prepare her backpack, as she's betting this is going to be a long trip indeed. Zydeth hurries after her, deadset on helping Shi pack to get them moving as quickly as possible to go after Rinsei.

This leaves it to be only Nyn to hear the front door creak open again, the blue eyed Jumi of Opal peeking indoors as if checking to see if everyone is gone. Upon spotting Nyn she smiles and holds up a finger to her lips before slipping inside with her other hand behind her back. Rinsei creeps across the common room's floor with Nyn right behind sniffing at the little girl's dress to try and guess where Rinsei has been these past two hours, almost getting two nostrils full of flower petals in the process. Into the kitchen Rinsei sneaks, in which she grabs one of the smaller sized flowerpots that she and Shi washed a couple of days prior and left to dry in the dish drainer. Then out of the kitchen she walks, quiet as a mouse, only to head back outside with her bouquet of wildflowers clenched carefully in one hand and the pot in the other. The door clicks shut just as Shi and Zydeth start down the stairs, both heading for the recently closed door as if they had yet to notice any sort of change since going upstairs. Nyn interposes herself, guessing at what Rinsei is up to, and points off towards the back of the room to indicate that she wants to check over there before they leave the house.

"But auntie, we checked over there already," Zydeth offers in protest, gesturing to the area that Nyn is stubbornly still trying to nudge them over to. Shi just shakes her head and pats the top of Zydeth's head between his horns. "Let's humor her, Zydeth," she whispers with a playful wink, reaching for his hand and smiling when his fingers curl about her paw.

So the corner is checked, quite thoroughly in fact. When nothing turns up, Shi points that fact out to Nyn, who hangs her head in mock apology. Both Mozou and Jumi reassure Nyn that the apology isn't necessary, and shouldn't they get going now?

There is something to be said for perfect timing. Shi with her stuffed backpack, Zydeth with his 'practice weapons', and Nyn toting her just buckled on leather travel harness with its water bottles, all find themselves staring at the potted flowers that now line the cobblestone path that leads across their lawn to the roadway. In the middle of that path stands a smiling Rinsei, with yet another pot held out in front of her, as if offering it to those who have just emerged from the house. A light breeze chooses that moment to swirl down and rustle the green leafy plant that Rinsei has selected as the perfect gift for her new family, and the scent that wafts off of it tickles at both of the Mozou's senses.

Everything falls into place for Shi. She resists the sudden urge to dash over and pluck a few leaves from the unfamiliar plant that Rinsei is holding so she can gnosh on them like some folk would chewing tabacco, only her instincts have her set on eventually swallowing hers, she instead closes the distance between her and the Jumi of Opal in order to accept the gift. Shi then goes up on tip-toe so she can kiss Rinsei on the top of the child's forehead. "Thank you, dear. The flowers are beautiful ... Next time, however, please warn us when you will be leaving for a long period of time? You worried us all something fierce."

Rinsei's eyes show her comprehension of the depth behind Shi's words, and nods once to make her understanding obvious. She had not intended to draw forth concern, instead hoping to surprise those who happily took her in and gave her an entire orchard to play with.

"Good. Now, let's go inside, and you can show me where it will be best for me to put this wonderful smelling plant you've discovered," Shi continues, linking arms with Rinsei and leading her back towards the house. Zydeth and Nyn have already gone back inside, but are waiting not far from the front door in hopes of expressing their gladness that Rinsei hasn't left them with hugs and purrs, respectively. "Whatever is this plant called, anyway?"

Rinsei's smile gains a twitch at one of its corners, enough so it threatens to turn into an actual grin. Her answer is simple, yet gives Shi good reason to promise herself to look it up later. "Catnip."

The contest shall be rescheduled to sometime next month due to lack of entries. Sorry for any problems this may cause, but it's best to hold it then when I can focus all my energy on it instead of moving/school/etc all at once. sad

(( Very understandable, Rena. I'm glad that it will be rescheduled, and I'll revamp my entry for the new contest once it happens. Thank you for taking the time to keep us informed. ))
