Hey all,
Currently involved in NWOD, with all of the genres which I can (Requiem, Forsaken and Awakening).
I have to say, even though I love it, Requiem is kind of a letdown when I read through the stuff from Masquerade. They took the Tremere and Assamites out, they didn't make the Malkavians their own clan or let them keep Dementation, the Lasombra, Brujah and Toreador have been bastardised, and Tzimisce have just completely vanished. It's a shame.
On the upside, they made up for the lack of Tremere and Assamites with the covenants - particularly Belial's Brood and VII.

I hate Requiem as much as all of but there is one redeeming thing about it and it is the health system since it does give players with higher stamina a more definite advantage with more health but otherwise it blows an elephant.

I would like to retract my previous statement. I have now played the new WOD as some lengths and would like to review the game fairly…..
After playing the game and having it run properly I have decided that I have nothing against the new WOD games. However, I would like it to be noted that if you try and compare old and New WOD with each other and you are an old WOD player, you will HATE New WOD. Because lets face it, people who are used to the old world of darkness are used to much deeper histories, a stronger focus on the social goings on of the vampire world, more material to inspire you rather than present you with plain factual concepts and more options, I mean there are 13 as opposed to 5 basic clans in the old WOD. Now having said that, if you put all comparisons aside and if you take New WOD as a completely different separate game to old WOD and if you forget whilst you play the game that you have ever played old WOD then you can genuinely find New WOD to be a very enjoyable game. I mean, I really got into it once I put aside my bias and looked at New WOD as something completely new. It seems like people have taken up the same perspective as people who are obsessed with comic-book super heroes and then go to the movie based on their favourite hero thinking its going to be exactly like the comic. It’s not going to happen! and anyone who expects it is going to be disappointed. However, if you go to the movie thinking “gee I sure like comic book super heroes” and regard the movie as a completely different thing to what the comics is then your really going to enjoy it because you like super heroes and that’s what the movie is about. Now, for people who like to play a few different games, I’d rather play New WOD than DnD or Exalted or any of the other games out there any day. Simply because, ultimately aside from the Old WOD games it is one of the most thematically darkest and socially intriguing games out there and thats the reason I love old WOD. Oh, one final thing that I really enjoyed about New WOD is its ability to crossovers the different races such as ware-wolves, vampires, humans, ghouls, mages, and changeling which they not only dealt well with in the source material, like in Old WOD, but also in the rules and systems. In fact I’d even go so far to say that for some reason you wanted to play a trans-racial chronicle with say a weir-wolf, a vampire, a mage and whatever other races you wanted to play, I’d recommend New WOD over old WOD sheerly due to the fact that the systems mingle much more smoothly.
