This chapter is dedicated to TJ, for reminding me of this book ( xd : ) and because she is my first, and best, #1 fan!! So without further ado, I present to you:

Chapter 9 -Memories-

Slowly, I felt all of my senses come flowing back, like I had just died and was revived. I still do not understand the meaning behind those dreams. 'Why do I keep having those dreams?' I thought to myself. Slowly, I regained my strength and pushed myself up. What I saw was a horror beyond words.
My hometown, Izlude, was destroyed.
Everything was burned to ash. I couldn't beleive it. I expected the tears to come, but they didn't. I no longer had the emotion sadness. Ever since Ryoko was killed by teach, I no longer has the emotion sadness inside anymore. I stood there for a minute, scouting the area. There wasn't anymore buildings standing. They were all huge piles of ash. My first thought was, I had to look for survivors.
"Hellooooo!?" No answer besides my echo. I headed to the building closest to my memory. My home was all in ash. That guild had burned it. I scanned through everything in my house. Nothing but ash, ash ash. After looking through the drawers for something, anything to remember home, I found a piece of paper, that, strangely didn't burn. It was all inside a beautifully decorated envelope, with my little sister's doodles. I opened the envelope.

Dear Zane,

You, my young boy, are going to become a great person in our families history. I beleive that you'll create a great legacy for your sons or daughters to follow. I'm going to tell everyone in Izlude about th wonderful story, and how my little boy is the greatest crusader of all time. WHile you're on your adventure, I will always be thinking of you. Your little sister, even though you never got along, is also worried about you, You must always remember this. i love you so much, and I know you'll be a fine crusader!

The words just sunk in. I wanted to cry so dearly, but I just couldn't. I could no longer cry. I just...put it back in the envelope and put it in my bag, and continued on. The next building I came up to looked quite familiar.
It was my old novice school, before I became this monster of a swordsman. I didn't have the greatest memories here.
There was one in particular that stuck with me. Perhaps it was my only positive memory I had at this place. I was only 6 years old, and everyone made fun of me. I was so skinny back then. Everyone liked to make fun of me. Sometimes I could tell that even the teachers made a comment or two. But there was one particular girl that stuck out. I somehow remember her name to this day.
It was Maria.

Maria was the only girl that I had truly ever liked as a friend. I met her when I was being picked on by bullies. I don't remember their names, though. "You're a stupid skinny little toothpick!" One of them said. "Yeah!" the other two had said. I was on my last nerve and was about ready to start my first fight, when Maria came in. "You know, you're a stupid bully who just picks on kids weaker than you for no reason! Or maybe it's just that you're afraid of him? I've been watching you for a while now, and you've been really bugging me, so why don't you just leave him alone!" "Well, I see toothpicks got himself a girlfriend, oooooh!" bully said. "Ooooh!" the lackeyes said. After that, they ran off.
I started to cry in happiness, because someone had finally said the words that I wanted them to say. Mom never really helped with situations like that. "Hey, it's ok." She got on the gorund with me and patted my back. "Th-thank you" I couldn't say anymore. The tears just swelled up inside. And I cried. "You don;t have to cry anymore...They're gone." She tried to cheer me up. "That's not it *Sniff* it's just...I wanted somone to tell me that....forever now." from then on, Maria became my best friend.
We talked for hours on end, every day. She told me all about her life. What she did each day, events in her pastlife, just everything. And then one day, something happened. One day, on a cold October night, I walked on to school, and recess had come. But Maria wasn't here. It was strange....She said she always had perfect attendance, even when she was sick. She didn't show up. At all. I decided to check by her house to see if everything was ok. The address she had told me, the house was old and abandoned. Nobody had lived in that house for years. I couldn't beleive it. She was gone.

Those were the memories I had had of Maria, my first, and what I thought was going to be my only, friend. (Ryoko came along after, of course). After a while, I decided, I had done enough reminiscing of my memories, and decided, I had to leave this town....to leave Izlude. I walked up to the town bridge that led to the gate outside. I thought, 'Maybe once I complete my mission, I can come back and rebuild Izlude...' I closed the gate, and headed north to the town Prontera, directly north of Izlude, in the field.

Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou Chi! Just added it to the rest of the chapters -^.^- I was dying to find out what happened next. It's so sad now his family and town are gone, and his friend is dead. But what about the mysterious Maria ninja Will she make a come back into his life? And if so will it be a chance for good or some twisted trick? Find out next time on Swordsman Chronicals. Had to do it.

Yeah, and I just saved all of mine ontto my computer finally, so I guarantee i wont lose them! I'm gonna write more tomorrow - look forward to it! (I would've finished yesterday, but my lttle sister got the computer, aso uhh, yeah.) You'r the coolest TJ
