All right. If you wish to persue a career in music than you're going to have to get over your fear of singing in front of people. Voice lessons might help they might not. It actually all depends on YOU. We cant do this for you. Its one of the D.I.Y. things.

If you want this as a career, singing lessons would be a nice investment in the future, don't you think? But don't look for something to magic away your fear, you know that's impossible. I've been taking singing lessons for half a year now, and I'm only just starting to get sort-of-comfortable singing in front of my teacher - and I know she has pupils who sing off pitch! But there are ways of getting rid of fear of speaking in public. courses and such. Maybe that sort of thing could help. I know it's not the same, but it's a thought. And Annie is right, you have to do it yourself... No-one can slap you out of fear except you. Good luck.

If you are considering music as a career, voice lessons would definitly be a good idea. I know a lot of people who are very talented on their own, but a good vocal coach can teach you proper technique that will bring out the best qualities of your voice. As people have said, lessons won't give you magical confidence to sing in front of huge crowds, but as you improve you will become more confident in your ability, which is the main cause for stage fright, thinking that you won't be good enough or that you'll mess up. You'll also be singing in front of your teacher, so you'll be used to having someone listen to you critically. Mostly, though, you get over stage fright by getting up in front of people. Every time you sing in front of people, it will get a little easier. There are all sorts of methods for knocking out nerves, you just have to figure out what works for you.
I'm an actor, myself, and I usually work my characters inside out, so I created a character that is very confident in front of people, and whenever I need to get up in front of people, I pull her out and she delivers speeches, sings, presents oral defenses, and answers questions when I'm nervous. I'm pretty shy, so having her there to take the pressure off of me is nice. Of course, I'm crazy, so I don't know if that would work for anyone besides me. Basically, just pretend you're not scared, start singing, and let the music take you away. Don't sing for the people in front of you, sing for yourself.

FallenCreature317 Hi im new and I love choir and I want to be a singer and I just need to ask one question did any of you take voice lessons and not be afraid to sing in front of people anymore and if you have any ideas of what I should do please tell me cause im afraid to try out for solos before i know if I can actually do it do any of you know of any lessons I could take from someone? Please I really need help! I''ve never taken voice lessons, and I do get nervous, but I''d still get nervous even if I got voice lessons. Just try to get over the fear. Even if you don''t get the solo, auditioning will help you rid yourself of that fear. biggrin

I've never actually taken vioce lessons, but I have been in choir for a long time. Anyways, in order to get over your nervousness is just don't be nervous. No one can help you get over your nervousness. But singing in front on some ppl can help u gain some courage...and it's great 4 practice
