Gappopo The ANBU are the Elite Jounin, we know this.
But do you forget that Orochimaru is a Legenday Shenin? And Kabuto is his right hand man, and I doubt Orochimaru would keep someone week at his side. Of course the ANBU are strong, but when up aganist someone like Orochimaru, who was able to kill Sarutobi....they have a slim chance of winning at all xP Good point.

Actully the lions at the chunin were mearly a jutsu used to loacate Anko heart *go anko!* but dident kakashi join ANBU at age 13? well it says so in mmy guide to narto book... so yha oh and inisadently i have the same b day as hinata desember 27

they cant do that anbu are assasins and they are ordered nothing more or less i got.. i know enough about this subject i own and anbu giuld go ahead and check it out...

Agreed. I haven't seen the ANBU do anything overly special. How many times did they miss things? For example: WHen the Sand and Sound invaded Konoha? How could they have possibly missed that? It's downright pathetic... and here they're supposed to be the best of the best! stare But, I still like them none-the-less. And I definantly think that a lot of the "rookie 9" will be ANBU members in the future. Maybe not right away, but...

ok well considering that some members of the leaf currently in the cartoon will join anbu u can see how strong the faction is. also kakashi is the next entry into it that im a aware of, and look how well he has handled all his opponents so far.
anbu are cool but i feel that they are more of silent killers so you wouldnt hear about there major kills

Watashi wa Hyuuga Hinata desu... Well, I too think its because they want to show how strong the antagonists are. Remember though...Orochimaru IS a legendary Sanin...And Kabuto has some kick butt skills. Another thing, since they are assassin ninjas...Do you really think they would be in Konoha that much except the Kage's guards? They wear masks already...So, IMO they hide out most of the time....
On the Rookie 9, didn't someone say that they were the most promising generation of genin? Or maybe that was a fanfiction quote...neh, I don't remember. XD.

The majority of the ANBU we see are only around to work the spandex uniforms make the villains look good. We're told time and again that they're T3H AW3SOM3, and then we see them get their butts handed to them.
They nearly wet themselves at the thought of Orochimaru. Conclusion: Orochimaru is a serious bad guy.
Kabuto slays a good dozen of them without breaking a sweat. Conclusion: Orochimaru (who's a serious bad guy, remember) doesn't keep this guy at his right hand just for the butt sex.
None of them can get through Orochimaru's barrier to help Sandaime. Conclusion: This barrier is a cheap plot device very advanced jutsu.
And so on and so on 3nodding
