{:Shadow and Light}

The market place was full, as usual, after all transactions were made everyday and nearly at all hours. This wasn't unusual though seeing as Kara's favourite shopping place was always the busy ones. Yukito peered out from under his hood at Yue who was scanning the busy street for the shops that were known to carry a varitity of goods. This, was their first time at the market place. Well... that was not true, they had been there before, when they were young and when Kara had more time to do things like shop for items to spoil her children with. However when they were young, they were also very small, so small that they were the size of dolls. When they were that small they could hide in the sleeves of their mother's robes. At such a small size it would be unthinkable for them to go by themselves, for they could get trampled on or lost.

However, that was when they were little. Now, in the teenhood of their life, both Yue and Yukito stood about 5'9, and without a doubt was due to grow even taller than that. At least much taller than their guardian Kara. As for why they found themselves in the market place well..... the twins were actually scouting out shops for their mother.

You see, they had toys growing up, they were mainly toys to share minus the few that receieved toys through whatever giveaway they happened to be in. Such as Yukito's stuffed blue bunny. This was fine for them, for they were children at the time who grew up very quickly, however.... there was now the issue of Jin. Jin, was their baby brother, literary speaking for once. Like any other baby he cried when he wanted to be held and cried when he was hungry, and cried when he needed to be changed. It became very clear very quickly that Jin would need objects to call his own before everyone in the household went inside. Unfortunately in this day and age finding a good toy was very difficult and Kara was now busy splitting time between running a school and taking care of children. Which is why now Yue and Yukito were browsing the shops, taking notes of anything that look potentially good.

Granted most shops sold plushies and little else.

Still, for the twin brothers who had decided and spent most of their life learning magic, they saw another potential in coming to the market place. After all, there is no other place in the world that would sell unusual objects used in magick craft than a marketplace. After all they should know after ransacking Kara's workroom when they were little, she wasn't overly pleased when they messed around with that snow charm she owned.

One shop in particular that held some interest was one where many of the story journals that were given to them when they were old enough to write were brought. A small store (but most were small), it had a wide range of objects. Unfortunately no toys to speak of, which was very unfortunate, but as they were passing a shelf full of wands Yukito tugged on Yue's sleeve and pointed.

There, sitting on the shelf were a set of wands, which were obviously a pair, though the tag said they were sold separately. Yukito picked the wand that was white and as he studied it he noticed how much craftsmanship went into the making of such a wand. The body was made of clear glass and wood, the handle shone and glinted like it was highly polished. The reflective nature of the handle told Yukito it was inlayed with pearl and trimmed with gold.

Indeed a very impressive piece of work.

Yue however chose the other wand to study, made in the same design as the first. However this one was done with red glasswork, and the inlay was not so nice, bone and darken silver.

When they asked about the nature of these wands the shopkeeper told them. The one with pearl is perfect for casting spells of light and illuision, while the one of bone was good for shadow magic and curses. Delighted Yukito brought the light wand immediately, while pointing to another object he saw in passing. As Yukito searched his wallet for the correct amount, to his surprise Yue set down the shadow wand upon the counter.

He looked, confused at Yue, "Yue, you don't do the kind of magic that wand is for."
"Is not attacking a person with magic a bit like shadow magic?" Yue pointed out calmly, "Besides, I think it suits me, like the light wand suits you."

Yukito blinked in surprised, it was true that they were twins and that they were opposite from each other. They had always been like that ever since they were so small. One to learn the gentler arts while the other learnt how to fight. One to always show his emotions and the other to hide them, they had been like that for as long as he could remember, but Yukito thought, they were pass that now. Now that Yue had his love and he was moving on in work, that their duality was fading. Yet, there Yue was, buying the sister wand to his.

Yue looked as he always did.... stotic, but if one looked closely they could see the up turns of a smile. See, this duality is a bond of a different nature, one that even someone as seemly cold as Yue could cherish. Then again, Yue only looked cold, he had in his own way a better understanding on how small things could mean something much more. That no matter how old they became, or how much time passed, they were alwasy be the duality of each other. Brothers.

Entry Dec 16th, 2006

Only a few more days before the majority of Gaia celebrate Christmas in their own way. Though I know I probably should have written down more objects of attention, unfortunately my attention had been taken up quite a bit by life itself. Jaseth seems fine enough, and has adjusted to the inn quite well, but then again I suppose I should not be surprised. Everyone else was thrilled to have Jaseth along in this insanity we call our family.

Seki has not changed overly that much, but he is more of a baby than any Second I've known. It is a good thing Mother has Jin, otherwise we might be a bit pressed for supplies.

However some interesting developments has occured over the course of the past several months or so. It seems that things around the inn will actually be liveily up, not that our home wasn't already lively to begin with.

I have heard that Yuki has taken on a student, which is unusual, Mother has entrusted her to him. Yes a her, an elf to be exact, not a species we have seen around the inn often, but I'm sure we have seen once or twice before. Cindy has also joined the ranks of part time special teachers, though I wonder if she might consider teaching. Doing something else other than potion making by herself will do her some good, if she takes up the potion teacher's slot then it would free up Mother a bit too.

In the mean time Yukito and I have been asked to take on a very unusual project concerning this elf girl. It seems that she came from another world, away from her home she is trying to find a way back. Next to Mother being the only mages in the family we were asked to take on the research and creation of such a way back. Well this will certainly be interesting.... I guess it is back to the library and back to both schools for us for the next long while.

{:Height Issues:}

She didn't know when she begun to noticed, or when it began to bother her. By nature Kara was always short, that was normal, standing at 5"1 she had assumed by nature that nearly all of her children would be taller than her. Triton was taller than her by the time he can become an adult, a good average height for a guy.

She should have seen it coming....

Afterall they were Triton's height for crying outloud, or were... she thought. Kara was sitting across from Yue doing her work, they sometimes shared a table when it was conivient it was the cloest they ever had to alone time anymore. His face... was not where it normally was when she looked, she was staring at his chest whenever he looked up from his work. That was not right.

To be fair, she had grown use to seeing them as they were, teenage sons who were far more responsible than most. Granted one needed to lighten up and the other had to have eyes in the back of his head before he hurt himself, but they were good boys. It had also been a long while since any of her children grew, but seriously surely they couldn't have gained that much height!

He looked up again, wondering what his mother could be staring at so intently. Was she complating the past? Or was she trying to figure out whether or not to pass or fail the paper that was in front of her. Kara blinked, and looked up a bit.

Oh well.. .who was she kidding, she was looking up a lot than what she was use to.

She nearly twitched, she shouldn't have to look up that much to see is face. Not to mention he seemed to loom more with that never smiling face of his.

He had to be much more than six something.

Yue raised a brow, the emotions going over his mother's face was quite interesting ranging from surprise to pure annoyance. He folded his hands together to wait for what she would do next. Her eyes went to his hands, the design of his clothes, his wings.

He had grown dammit, now when did that happen?

She looked back at her paper, where it laid forgotten in her time of studying Yue. The woman picked her pen up again and scribbled something n the margins, the points weren't as strong as it should be. Kara paused before she continued to mark the paper.

"You've grown," she commented softly.
Yue nodded, "Helen was quick to replace the clothes."
"I see...."

She scribbled a bit more, she now had four adults in her home. Where had the time gone? When all she had were little children running amuck in the inn? Growing up obvious.... Ready to have families and all those things that went with it. Kara couldn't help wonder as she chewed the tip of her pen trying to decide wether the student was in the right or not for using this example if any of her children would move one day. It would make things lonely that was for sure, but surely they must want children and families of their own. Not that the two hadn't already started a family back in the day when they were teenagers.

"I understand you see everything in the term of mates," Kara finally spoke, "But now that you're adults, do at least have some kind of... marriage ritual, rings at least," she finally decided the example was valid enough.
"Of course, I think it would make Jaseth feel much better," Yue replied.

Families... loves... she sort of envied her children for that. They fell in love, they had mates, husbands, spouses whatever you want to call them who'll stay with them. She liked that, she wanted a large family.

"I suppose I'll be having grandchildren soon?" she asked again.

They had been waiting till they grew to adult for that chance.

"Of course," Yue replied a matter of factly.

She looked up at him once more, always serious. Kara smiled a bit, "Good."

Then she went back to her work catching glipmises of her son as he went back to his. She was proud of how well he had grown up.

But did he have to be so tall?

{:Second Generation:}

Entry March 11th, 2007

I confess I have been lagging in my entries as of late, though things keep happening some good, some bad, some bound to bad. Perhaps I should explain a bit. First with a piece of news those of us at home (even though it has been two months now) find a bit disconcerning. Elnara, who is now our sister is our sister because otherwise she would have no family. It is not that hers have passed on, but rather well... as some would say they need a good kick in the rear.

Speaking of family, our own has grown bigger and not just with the arrival of Elnara, and her own adopted Second son, Celebor, but with my own children, and not just Seki. Ever since we were little Jaseth has always wanted children, and I agreed that it would be the most wonderful thing to have a child with him. Now we are parents... by blood I mean, which is as an after thought ironic seeing as the family has no blood children since grandfather's time. Even though we cannot take the vases home yet, I can't help but wonder. What will the children be like? Can we raise them for that matter?

I certainly hope so, though it means now to deal with the headmaster again about off time. To think I just finished making sure my status as an adult puts me in a full time work.

However my time will be split (there are advantages in living a family that looks after each other), so Trisha and mother will have to help look after them. The portal must be re-establish for Elnara, and for a task that Triton as promised himself he would carry out. Wtih help of course.

{:Father:}

Entrylog April 4th, 2007

It has finally happened after some debate, and a great deal of worry it has finally come to pass. Jaseth and I are fathers, a twins no less. A little girl named Miyu and a little boy named Wataru. I wondered how children with a human and angel father would look like. Even though Miyu comes from a human vase, she has small black wings (Jaseth's colorings), and her hair is white like mine.

How interesting, they are both very adorable children with their wide eyes. Though the goddesses have blessed them with a bit jewerly which I find interesting, but it suits the both of them quite well. Mother was happy as a lark about it though. Not surprisingly enough.

{ biggrin isappearing Children and Portals:}

Entrylog July 5th, 2007

It looks like that Yukito and I have had a bit of hindsight while creating that false door to lead to Elnara's homeworld. Specifically the problem of stoleaways in mother's runed bags. Mother and Donovan over two weeks ago have decided to travel to the Borderlands in order to talk to Serenity, Elnara's blood mother. For reasons, that Serenity deserves to know what has happened to her daughter since the last time they had met. Unfortunately, no one had foresee that Skye and Miyu would crawl into mother's bag.

Jaseth was nearly having ulcers because of that, though Miyu did come back in one piece (with new clothes I might add). She looked like she had a fine time, though she's more clingly than usual, when is saying quite a bit for someone like Miyu.

Though we really need to make sure people stop accidentally getting into the Four Lands. At the moment though, plans are being made in going back, I think, as they have been for a long while. The traveling party has been decided to consist of myself, Triton and Donovan. Despite the improvements in the mertwins’ fighting, it would still not be wise to take them along. There are, otherwise no others we can take at this moment, as no one else has the skills or, are too young. Still, I can’t help but worry with a party of only three people, four if it’s true that Donovan would wish to ask Elnara’s old childhood friend along on this mission.

Hopefully Jaseth won’t be too worried for me being gone for a long while, even if it might be just for a day or two.

{:Where We Like That?:}

Entrylog October 25th, 2007

Despite the fact that there is very little to write about (except about the education of siblings, nephews, nieces and children), I do feel the need to update seeing as it has been a long while. To whoever reads this, one must understand life just goes on as always, true there is always something happening, but even the most unusual events tends to be quite normal.

Take for example Wish referring to myself, Yukito and mother over the fact that Storm and Starr had gotten into the workshop and taken a Fireeater potion. While it is certainly the more foolhardy action ever taken in the inn, mother is not a stranger to people going into her workshop without permission or reasonable motive. After all, Yukito and I did that as children all the time, made it snow in the inn several times. Granted, mother did have that priestess to help her, even though it took a while to figure out how to make the snow go away. Triton and Were’s invasion into the workshop was more serious as they unleashed a demonically possessed doll.

Therefore, it was no unusual; however it was a pity that Storm and Starr could not get into something less dangerous than a potion that works like acid. Since it seems that Storm specifically wants to keep getting into things dealing with magic because he wants to use it, mother has turned to Yukito (to whom Elnara had already been talking to). Fortunately I am not to teach them, but I’m sure mother is trying to figure out a way to make it so since she is under the impression that Storm, and Starr to an extent need to learn how to treat magic like a discipline, not a novelty.

I personally can’t blame mother, we were all raised on magic in a more conservative manner. Mother doesn’t like to treat magic like a novelty or even a way of life, but then again she feels the same way about technology.

{:Another Season Gone:}

Entrylog January 2nd, 2008

Another season come and gone, only with nearly twice the number of people than we had last season. Granted a good amount of those people were in the form of grandchildren rather than siblings. It shows how much the family has changed since then, but still, it is a good change.

I do believe though that there will be more changes ahead, for example Miyu and Wataru, along with Seki should really begin their lessons. Well… I’m not sure about Seki, he’s still in a baby like state, so perhaps not him. However for Jaseth’s sanity I do think Miyu and Watarau should begin schooling.

Things at the school have been going well, no more incidents since that fight Shi had with Irvine. Thank the Goddesses for that, Irvine is a good boy, just not very good at controlling his magic. I had debated though with mother on the wisdom of letting a temperamental boy like Shi to look after Lin, but then again Lin doesn’t let people push her around. She is frightening a lot like Donovan in that aspect.

Speaking of Donovan, he had started up that ranch so he could have a base in the Four Lands. He still hasn’t figured out how he is going to convert the gold, but it gives him something to do besides be the headmistress’ assistant. Honestly he’s more like the dark guarding figure than any normal assistant. Perhaps I’ll take a visit there sometime, I would like to ask what ever happened to those dwarves, or that idiot of a captain from last time. Not that I’m likely to hear anything about the latter.

{ razz arental Issues:}
Entrylog February 17th, 2008

If this is how mother feels every time we grow, she can be forgiven for going on a hugging spree every single time we do. They cannot be growing up already! Despite the fact I know the three should have grown up a long time ago, it does not make my life any easier than my children, from Seki to Wataru to Miyu are growing up. After all, we Seconds grow very quickly, they are already child, and someday they’ll be teenagers.

Teens with very distorted ideas.

Admittedly part of it was mine and Jaseth’s fault, after all we should have made sure Seki was very occupied before deciding to go off. Our… shall we say love life has not at all slowed down since the children have been born. Wataru is easier to keep in the dark, except somehow he keeps getting these awful books. Books in which Miyu sometimes looks at much to her utter confusion.

She’s too young to talk about the facts of life, but I fear if no one talks to her about it soon, she will think only men do those things and therefore making herself an easy target. Unfortunately the mere idea of talking about that with my daughter is far more embarrassing than the idea of talking about it with my sons. More so, Miyu is early on noticing that she and her brothers are not the same at all. Besides missing important nether regions, she notices she’s actually slimmer than her brother, which is normal seeing as she could have gotten from Jaseth. However, Miyu is also developing early (but then again Feng was the same way too), in which she is starting to have slight… well chest.

Maybe I should get Yukito to explain, or maybe mother, or maybe even Feng. No… not Feng, that would lead to more complications. Like the issue about mers. I’ll ask mother.

{:Bonding:}
Entrylog May 10th, 2008

Well, the problem with finding Toshiro a bonded has been finally solved. Though I can’t say I’m fond of the idea that Miyu is the one who will be providing Toshiro with the magical energy he needs. He can still take energy from around him, but Miyu will make sure he doesn’t suddenly collapse from lack of energy. I’d rather it be someone other than Miyu, but Miyu was the only one close to his age (and her being a bit older doesn’t hurt either), and she has an additional alignment which helps her use her magic.

On a random note I found out that Miyu’s alignment is with the stars not the moon, which proves to be interesting. It would explain her slight obsession with the glowing dots in the sky, and it seems to give her a very good sense of direction at night.

At any rate, it looks like the bond is doing a whole world of good, Toshiro has grown for the first time. Those large baby blue eyes of his will make him quite popular with the females, if there were more female Seconds his age to be around. He still sleeps or takes naps, but I have a feeling that part is more of a pastime for him these days rather than a need.

{:Yami-san and the Other Person:}
Entrylog June 24th, 2008

There is probably nothing more frustrating, or more irritating than not being able to help your own child. I only know the bare facts, that there is some sort of Second living in the mountains who seems to have no scruples about threatening children off the mountain side. I had been most frustrated over the fact that this incident which involved Lin, Toshiro and my daughter Miyu, because Miyu as a result had suffered from nightmares for two nights. Two nights she dreamt that she was visiting her friends in the Borderlands, specifically the one she called Yami-san, only to have that… that man there instead!

All she sees is cold blue eyes and Yukito, while a wonderful help to trying to get Miyu to calm down will not tell me where that man is staying. He says this has the potential of having a grave misunderstanding between Seconds. There is no misunderstanding about it! He frightened the children, injured and threatened my sister! Yukito has made me promise though, to just handle things with Miyu, even though by the second day I’m ready to try anything. Which is why, we went to visit ‘Yami-san’.

Since he is part of those nightmares, if anyone could solve it, he could. At least I hope, and while I do not like to give parenting over to anyone else, this is a person close to Miyu and she had been so close to getting use to people I do not want this ‘incident’ to make all her progress be for naught.

I didn’t know what to expect when seeing this person, whom I found out from Lin was actually named Aragost. All I knew going into this was that Aragost knew everything, so she had warned me not to be surprised if he knew what happened more or less right away. She was right, and looking back on it, it was a bit odd. I would have probably found the experience uncanny had Miyu not been crying.

Seeing Aragost though I had to ask… why didn’t Miyu find people like me… like ‘Yami-san’ scary at all? The answer though it pretty clear, when given the chance she sees past that, but only if you let her see. She can’t see right off, of course she tends to be scared of a lot of things. I wonder if Aragost though… was a father once, because you can see it in the way he interacts with Miyu.

It worked though, at first she kept crying about this person on the mountain, but after a while she saw the differences between the two men. Whatever they were, though I have a rough idea what this person might look like when Aragost put his cloak on. Something familiar and not familiar, no wonder why she was more frightened than usual, especially when she realized it wasn’t someone familiar. She had shrunk away slightly when Aragost put his cloak on, but seeing a bit of him made it all better.

In fact in the past few days she has been much better, though it probably also has to do with the fact that she’s been keeping herself busy making a quilt with Trisha. Miyu has told me (in utter seriousness) that Yami-san needed something in his room to brighten it up. So she’s making a quilt for him, even though she admitted he probably doesn’t need it, but she wants to make it anyways. Hopefully by the time she finishes, she will have forgotten about the whole incident completely.

{:Father Daughter Bonding:}

Late summer when it was very hot, was probably the best time of year for Yue to do things with his children. When it came to his little girl Miyu, it was also the best time of the year to have a bit of fun with ice magic. The mixture of being out in the sun and doing something with cold blocks of ice was always a winning mixture. Granted no one would have thought Yue was the type to have fun with ice.

Or to be the type to make ice sculptures for that matter.

Yet that was what he was doing that day, as he sat beside the female version of himself giving her pointers on how to make ice sculptures from magic. He was slowly shaping what looked to be like an ice version of his mate Jaseth. Complete with shy eyes and long braided hair waving out behind the ice Jaseth like a banner on the wind. It was quite a good likeness if he said so himself, though….

Yue glanced down to see what Miyu was doing.

Miyu wasn’t doing anything big, it could have fit into her palms, but what she was doing was far more delicate than what Yue would have ever thought of. Instead of a large statue, she was shaping ice flowers, which petal could be seen and counted. Some were simple enough like jasmine flowers, but others were more complex like daylilies and roses sprouting out of the ground as if they had grown naturally. She ‘grew’ them around her, as if she was standing in an icy fairy ring complete with snow topped mushrooms. Yue could not help but chuckle at her, she looked so cute like that, but something seemed to be missing he thought.

Then, struck by inspiration, Yue knew just what to add. He held out his hands over her head and began to shape something in the form of a halo. At least that’s what it looked like at first, but then it became thicker like a circlet and the smoothness was shaped away to form a vine design, which he placed upon Miyu’s silvery hair.

Miyu looked up in surprised, which was replaced by a look of pure delight, “Mi!”
“You look like a little princess.”
“Mi? I don’t want to be a princess.”
Now that… maybe shouldn’t have surprised Yue, “Oh? What do you want to be then?”
“I want to… be the person to help people!”
“A helping mage?”
“Yay!”

That made Yue’s chest swell with pride, after all he was a mage, and the thought of Miyu wanting to be one even after all the times she became scared was a wonderful thought indeed.

{ razz uppy Dogs:}
Entrylog October 10th, 2008

I hate students. A statement one might say hypocritical seeing as I too was once a student and my young daughter is a student, but I hate students. Specifically I hate the idiots that past themselves for students at the school. At least Miyu understands that magic is to be handle with caution (better than my brother and I) and at least Yukito and I never turned anyone into a dog. That is right… a dog.

A red haired, shaggy, small dog.

A few weeks ago the magic students set off some of the alarms set around the school in case of a magic attack. They ran of course at the sight of me (though you’d think the fear of me getting a hold of them would keep them from doing something so stupid). At first I thought they had attempted to use a dog as a guinea pig, since all that was there was this poor small pathetic creature whimpering. Well, I did the only thing I could do and was take the canine to Yukito. I figured, at the most someone in the family would keep it as a pet. Yukito delegated the care of the pup to Miyu, since Miyu due to her age couldn’t help with the older students. Miyu in turn named the pup Inu-chan.

I think I might have to resign in getting a Miyu a pet in the future for “Inu-chan” was not meant to be. The pup turned out to be the headmaster’s daughter Were-ah Scott. What happened was the students’ spell backfired and turned Were-ah into a dog. I hear that Mr. Scott was having a panic attack during her ‘missing’ period. Not that can I blame him at all for doing so.

So now I’m stuck finding the students, I have an idea who they are, I just need to prove it. Perhaps with Yukito’s help we can scare them within a few inches of their lives.

{:Internship for Miyu:}
Entrylog February 5th, 2009

There are times I believe in a family of twenty plus people (I have lost count a long time ago), that there will always be a bit of drama in the family. Not that anything truly drastic had occurred… well except for that little problem of Naida being taken by a mischievous Fae. It had been discovered that day that Mother is more powerful as a mage when she’s pregnant than when she’s not. This and I believe her hormones were working over time, the Fae should be pitied. I do not believe he had been so humiliated as to be scolded like a young child. Fortunately Donovan came home in time from his ‘craving errand’ to calm Mother down.

That is another thing, Donovan has become the errand boy since Mother became pregnant, and not that he minds I think.

Miyu, should be ready to have lessons in Second magic, and she should have a long while ago, but her shyness had prevented this. Normal magic lessons though have gone very well, she knows a great deal about healing. The only problem is at her stage she seems to unlike other Seconds who have been at her stage for a very long time is still unable to convey very well what she knows into words. She knows it, but it still sounds like a child speaking. Still it is amazing how she has grown up, she talks more and no longer feels the urge to whack people with plushies when she needs their attention. She skitters less, and has hobbies (if seeing what she can make out of ice is a hobby). It is tempting to say it is about time she should start interning, but stage wise she’s too young. Yuki and I started when we were teens, but she has to be the same age chronologically speaking as us. Truth be told, Yuki does need extra help now that Elnara has taken leave having twins and all.

Maybe Miyu can help look after Mother for her first assignment that might do.
