Sol's continuing to listen to the proceedings led to a grimace of his own as Tristen was further brought up and, notably, the fact that his being there was a war crime in itself. He'd known this for some time, it sat in the back of his mind constantly along with a sort of irony that of any such crimes he may or may not have committed, children on the battlefield was one he narrowly avoided. By his recollection, Aden was at least sixteen himself by the time he did get wrapped up in Snagem's dealings, and becoming a parent was an awfully strong deterrent and motivator to avoid leaving a mess for the next generation to clean up after. Perhaps, in some way he and Blizzard were more alike here; he certainly didn't stop Aden from participating once he knew of it, and if he were as young as Tristen was, he couldn't confidently say he'd be less of a doormat about it.
Another grimace came when the Snagems left behind at HQ were paraded in to drive the axe further into the team's heads. A dejected sigh left him, another reminder of things he wasn't able to avoid. Tristen was one matter, that kid was headstrong as anything and things were done to try and give him every opportunity to simply live his life in the end. Aden was another, he certainly was never born with the intent of him joining the team and if anything, he hoped maybe the team would never have to exist by the time he did start seriously questioning what his dad was doing for a living. But Serena and Libelle, and Yuna too despite the rapid aging... there was no defense for any of them and little as two of them were, there's no way it didn't look really bad. If he'd had his way, he would've asked them to depart from the team to avoid exactly this scenario and so the kids could've grown up in a more appropriate setting. Unfortunately, it seemed certain primal instincts that couldn't be corralled were now to be another bullet in the chamber, and justifably so.
And Cruxias' remark about Blizzard... that he had saw himself as having some divine right or whatever. Much as he wanted to object to that, he wasn't sure how. Or if he could. He'd glance over to Sub as he was given the floor, having no doubts about just how compromised he and everyone else were now. If it wasn't certain before that they'd be left completely indefensible at this rate, it was now. He could see Cera fidgeting more too, looking around with nervous eyes and gripping part of a pastel green vest, flower-like knots keeping it buttoned up before eventually smoothing out a skirt of the same color. Wait, didn't she have a pink outfit earlier...? Still, he had no doubts about what might be going through her mind right now, but there was nothing to be done for it.
As it was, she had glanced at the others too, almost sure at least a couple of them wouldn't need to make many guesses towards her anxious mannerisms. That initial thought of hers earlier only took further root as Cruxias and Blizzard spoke, and seeing Doc Owl, Yuna and the kids brought out did very little to help that. She couldn't sense them either with the collars, and she wasn't sure what kind of point was going to be made in bringing those accursed things up. Not that it mattered anymore, now it was another reminder that she should've been better at evading Team Rocket back then. Better at evading capture and being brought to Ein, and "needing rescued" in the first place. Better at evading Sub, at least.
If she'd just managed to do that, managed to get away and fly off to some other island that'd be hard to track down... maybe this trial wouldn't be happening and she wouldn't all but see the Sword of Damocles dangling over everyone's heads including her own. The emotions she could sense alongside, be it the swirl of anxiety, anger and more from the other members or the overwhelmingly heavy animosity weighing down everything like an oppressive blanket, all of it kept her nerves wound up like an overly taut rubber band that wanted to snap at any moment. Tense as she was and much as she wanted to apologize to everyone and flee, she was keeping it together for now.
---
"Right," Amaranth gave a light nod. "With any luck, our scouting will be quick." There wasn't much else to say for now, still making her way through the woods to get a better look at the Viridian Gym and what to expect.

Leslie would already be halfway through preparing to slam her hammer into the wall that they seemed to be pointed towards when the button successfully cracked it open. Thankfully, her preparation to commit violence would be rewarded with the emergence of a flurry of Dugtrio that appeared oh so tempting to use a hammer on. Reaching up on her hammer, she would quickly press a button. A whirring sound would echo through the cavern as motors and gear systems snapped into action, the twin mouths of Leslie’s hammer snapping open before the four segments began to set to work on layering themselves. Each segment would interweave themselves with each new one that laid on top, eventually coming together with an echoing snap as the two ends finished their transformation and formed into a simple mallet.
Letting out a cackle as she looked towards one of the Dugtrio, a pink glow began to ignite around her instinctively. And then she would appear above the Dugtrio with barely a sound before Leslie bellowed, “Time for a high score!” The mallet would slam home onto the head of the largest of trio with a Play Rough-empowered smack that kicked up a large dust cloud. As the cloud blew away, Leslie would be standing over the knocked out Dugtrio looking towards the rest of her prey. Dawning recognition would ripple through the scattering of Dugtrio that had been paying attention to her. A deep, primal recognition of the weapon that sat on her shoulder and what precisely that meant for them. In unison, they would all dive into the earth. They had one chance to handle the Whac-A-Trio menace and it was going to require coordination.
Cracking open a Pokeball, she would charge forward to meet the challenge even as her Bulbasaur popped out behind her. “You wanna play? Let's play!” She shouted, watching as the first one popped out of the ground in front of her and prepared to slash at her with the Dig attack that they were coordinating. However, instead of the time before a hammer swing that would be perfect to smash into Leslie, it was instead greeted with a sudden impact to the lead one's head before the small package exploded into a shower of glitter that completely derailed their attack. Laughing over her Fake Out attack, Leslie would barely have time to bring her hammer around to try and block the second Dugtrio as it leapt out of the ground to assault her. Leaving her completely open to the third trio's successful dive into her back with a flurry from their Dig attack. Yelping in pain from the somewhat blocked and completely free shot she had just taken, Leslie would get the satisfaction of watching as a pair of vine tendrils extended out and intertwined before slamming home onto the Dugtrio that had hit her back, the Power Whip knocking the thing for a loop before it retreated to pick its wounds.
Pushing back against the Dugtrio stuck against her hammer, Leslie would be mid-windup when a torrent of mud slammed into her and tried to knock her off balance. The Dugtrio she had Faked Out decided that a Mud Shot was its best course of action and it was very successful at stopping the violence against its friend. It was much less successful at halting the violence entirely, as the punk glow once again consumed Leslie before she appeared above the offending Dugtrio and gave it the same treatment as the original instigator for this brawl. Turning from her felled prey, she would watch as the other two Dugtrio once again dove underground to try another Dig attack.
It would only be a moment before they popped out of the ground again, but Leslie had thought herself ready to intercept and slam home onto the next one that dared enter her range. Unfortunately, the two Dugtrio had decided to split themselves up this time and one popped to slam home onto her Bulbasaur while the other sprung out of the ground behind her and slashed into her with a Sucker Punch to take advantage of her distraction from preparing her own attack. Willow would be sent bouncing around the tunnel from the impact, the Bulbasaur not prepared for such a heavy blow. And just as she prepared to leap to her Bulbasaur's defense, a localized sandstorm would kick to life around her, forcing her back from her prepared dive as the Sand Tomb began to consume her vision. Squinting to try and see through her new surroundings, Leslie would be able to see the two Dugtrios popping out of the ground as they prepared to focus down her Bulbasaur before returning to try finishing her off.
As much as she didn't want to do it, it would appear that she was going to do something to completely ruin her score. Raising her hammer high, she would squeeze down on a small grip that sat just outside her normal holding position. A whirring sound would begin to echo out of the hammer, just barely audible above the roaring dust devil that the Dugtrio had entrapped her in. A bright, steely glow would begin to poke out from the mallet head of her hammer, seeming almost to be pushing against the seams. “This is gonna ruin my score but I don't care. Metal Searing Flash Cannon!” Leslie called, the head of the hammer finally unable to stand up to the strain of the energy it was containing and forcing the mouth to bloom, a concentrated beams of grey-white energy searing through the Sand Tomb and slamming home into one of the Dugtrio before it could attempt to follow up on her Bulbasaur.
Turning to see where the beam had come from, the final Dugtrio would re-evaluate its target priorities and dive into the ground once again. Except, before the hole it dug could shut behind it, a ball would fire from Willow and be sent flying into the cavern that the Dugtrio was forming. A second later, there would be a muffled boom as the Seed Bomb went off and the Dugtrio would just barely manage to get aboveground before Leslie's hammer slammed into the Pokemon and put it out of its pain. “Okay. Might have bitten off more than I can normally chew but I got it done. I think.” Leslie said, pulling out a Pokeball and returning her Bulbasaur. As painful as it had been, she was thankful for the team attack since it kept them from using Earthquake. That effort to avoid friendly fire had helped with keeping things controlled.
—
Reno sat at the table, doing his best to keep his breathing controlled. While he was certainly not enjoying the questions being asked by the opposition, there was bound to be an opportunity here. There had to be, because otherwise Sub was letting a myriad of witness badgering, prosecution testifying instead of asking questions, and other objectionable things fly without response. And when Blizz began going in on SWIPE, an idea began to form but it depended on what came from Cruxias next.
He couldn't fully focus on that though, not with his own little passive mental monitoring alerting him to the fact that the vaguely cliche ball of emotions that was Keiko was beginning to get close to lashing out. And as much as he wanted to himself, Reno had to keep himself focused in case she did go for it to stop her. While it wouldn't be great to have to basically put down one of their team members, it would look even worse if they required actual bailiff or even SWIPE members to stop Keiko.

Ulla seated with the rest of the Snagems as she sat quietly. It's like she disconnected herself, and focused on everyone's emotions all at once. Her team, the jury, the judge, everyone. Everyone's emotions were so loud..but her main focus was on the jury. But, one person's emotions was louder than everyone. Sub...I know you are in pain and feel nothing but guilt that we are going through this purgatory...but know this...we can win. Ulla thought as she tightened her fist as they started talking about the younger Snagems.
Master...please. Hurry with your findings before I am called to the stand...

Odd had felt the needling of absent Snagems at his senses ever since entering the gym but, for some reason, had been unable to tell exactly where they were. As Cruxias and Blizzard’s exchanges continued, he tried his best to search the building for them, looking around for those familiar souls against the void of the physical world. Nothing, though. They were definitely here but it was beginning to drive him mad being unable to see them. Focusing back on Blizzard just before Cruxias brought out his “evidence” against not only Blizzard but all of Snagem, he was slapped in face with one of the very souls he had been searching for moments before as if it had simply popped into existence out of nowhere. Were these temporary walls also constructed with Ebonite? Did everything in this modern world include the stuff? Or was it more insidious than that? What stood out to the Channeler more than anything was that that soul was worn down. He was exhausted, nearly broken, it seemed like, and had clearly not been properly cared for in the time they had been away. What hurt the most was the loudest voice in the room, however. In Doc Owl’s arms, pulled away from her fathers and the Pokemon that would have been responsible for her in their absence in most cases, Libelle began to cry loudly. She was unhappy, uncomfortable and very likely hungry. The crying baby wriggled about, trying her best to be free and look around for the people who made her feel safe. That was when Lykas saw it. Even the children had been collared. “Why can’t I sense her?!” Odd asked quietly, straining to detect the smallest hint of her soul and finding nothing but Doc Owl standing there.
“Libelle!” Lykas gasped, he and Odd gripping one another by the hand as they fought to remain seated while Cruxias ceded to Sub. “They’ve all got those damned collars on now…” Lykas informed Odd as the Snagem leader repeated the same trick with Blizzad as he had done with Odd while not even asking him a question first. Both knew why, seeing this brazen display. Blizzard, among all of Snagem, had been a father-figure if not an outright father the longest. He spoke the truest and the most deeply of the love the Snagems had for their children and for their hopes and dreams for them and their future. As the hybrid made his plea to the masses in their defense, the two young men nodded along with him. Neither wanted Libelle to be part of Snagem and while Snagem as an organization going defunct wasn’t something either liked the idea of, they both knew the family it had created for all its members would never fall apart even if the team itself were to disband. They would have friends and family everywhere and, with any luck, live in a world that didn’t need Snagem when and if that day ever came. But for now, they all did their best to keep the kids away from the field and kept safe. Whereas SWIPE had barely bothered with keeping them alive and nurtured in their absence, it seemed. Odd covered his mouth as he fought not to curse and scream at these government dogs for what they had done. Lykas narrowed his eyes, glaring at Cruxias, first, then casting a tearful look to his daughter. “We’ll be back together soon…” He promised her under his breath, trying not to disrupt the proceedings. The young fathers would find themselves holding one another a moment later, trying to keep their emotions in check for now. This trial as far more painful than either had been expecting and not for the reasons they had thought it would be. Looker had dangled their absent family in front of them like a carrot on a stick to ensure they came but that promise of reuniting them seemed to be little more than an outright lie now. They never had any intention of allowing Snagem to reunite with those left behind before they successfully entrapped everyone possible and ensured none of them would be leaving the courtroom without cuffs and life sentences.

Aile would notice no one ahead of them, rather relieved that this was the case. They could go ahead unhindered, unnoticed, and at least for her, not have to worry about anyone needing to report back at some point. “We follow the path until I say otherwise. Let’s go.” Heading into the tunnel, she would continue to take the lead, putting to the side all the sensations she was picking up from the movement of the Diglett. Sand from her arm would fly to the walls, keeping pace with her as she walked, using it to help her find the spaces and the device needed to open it. The holes in the walls were throwing her off, until she picked up on a different material within one of them. Summoning the sand to the one point, she’d push it in remotely before bringing it back to her arm.
When she saw the side path open, she honestly couldn’t be surprised. It was a hidden area, somewhere they could keep safe, if the main tunnel wasn’t safe enough for them. To have the locals guard it for a safe place to maybe raise young… Honestly, she couldn’t find fault with using the Dugrtrio. It was less conspicuous than putting up other defenses or setting a guard, and honestly, if someone really wanted to get through, they’d find a way through anything, like they were about it. However, there was the point of who to fight it, as one decided she wasn’t welcome either. Not much time, as she wound up having to dodge an Earth Power from them. The quickest one would to be to have Poggle fight them… but she didn’t fancy the odds. The bug type was not exactly one of her battling Pokémon, for the most part. Maybe some pot shots, but in a case like this, she’d rather have something with more force. Quickly reaching for her belt, she’d pull off the Friend Ball containing Kaas. Deciding this would be fine, she’d send the mutated moon bear out, the Ursaluna sniffing and looking around before turning his own emerald eyes onto his trainer, narrowing them at her.
“Hey! This isn’t going to be a return to form, I understand you were getting bored of seeing caves and stuff! But we’re fighting again-” Her rant would be interrupted by having to dodge another Earth Power by the trio of heads, which would get a reaction from the bear in the form of a swift search before performing an Earth Power of his own. This one would also be dodged by the Dugtrio, but only barely, after they stopped suddenly. The bipedal bear would snarl, but glance backwards at his trainer, who nodded back. “Try out a Moonblast.”
Kaas nodded, and the red circle on his forehead began to glow with a pink tinge while the Dugrio began to stir up dirt and mud before flinging it in the bear's face. The blast of mud would land squarely in his face, getting in his eyes. Despite not as much of the mud flying off as the bear would like when he shook his head, he seemed to not care, as once the pink glow fully emerged, he would fire off a light pink, almost white blast of energy, sending the Dugtrio back reeling. The trio of moles shook their heads as they came back to retaliate, each head charging up a different colored beam. The Ursaluna would look back at his trainer, who shook her head. “Vacuum Wave, Kaas. No need to use that yet.”
“Urlu.” The Bloodmoon Ursaluna would begin to spin his arms around rather quickly, throwing it forward after a second and sending a blast of empty space to smack the Dugtrio. That interrupted the charging of beams, stunning the trio of moles for a bit, until they could form a coherent thought again and decided being above ground wasn’t worth it. Once the pair disappeared, the duo looked at each other again. “Urruu. Ur lu luna?” Kaas would point to the Nincada on Aile’s left arm after wiping off his face, narrowing his eyes slightly.
“Because I didn’t feel comfortable having him fight. He’s out to know his way back to find others, not for any sort of fighting reason.” Kaas would snort in response, showing his distaste for that line of thought. His face would soften somewhat, though, as he picked up on a scent that, while potentially more faint now considering how long she’d been away from Kitakami, certainly reminded him of that area. The bear’s green eyes would turn to look at Ogerpon, tilting his head with a small amount of curiosity. Aile would notice this and look back and forth for a moment, narrowing her eyes for a moment as she tried to get a read on the bipedal bear’s thoughts. “....Kaas, we are not fighting our allies. Let’s go.” The trainer motioned her head toward the path ahead of them, walking ahead to find the status of the warp panel. Kaas’ attention would turn back to his trainer, blinking as he followed. He wasn’t interested in throwing any other hands… at the moment, anyway. He just wasn’t expecting to catch any sort of familiar scents here was all.

One by one the Dugtrio would fall, the wild Pokemon putting up a surprisingly fierce resistance to the presence of the Snagems, no doubt lending credence to Aile's theory that these Dugtrio were charged with protecting this hidden tunnel. Completely unsurprising that a Ground specialist such as Giovanni could make such an arrangement. Of course the Dugtrio had to get something out of this arrangement as well to keep their end of the bargain, especially after this long. The Snagems would soon find out what that was.
It was a short walk deep into this hidden tunnel once the Dugtrio were put down, the Snagems entering a section of the tunnel which was clearly carved out by humans, the tunnel ending in a perfectly square chamber littered with small holes all over the ground. At the center of this swiss cheese floor was a square of metal roughly five feet by five feet with the promised warp panel at its center. On opposite sides of the square were boxes that ran the length of square, their tops made of plexiglass. Inside one could easily see several Electric Gems, the power source for this warp panel, removing the need to be connected to any sort of power grid.
"Dig...?"
"Digi-dig?"
"Lett..."
One by one small Diglett would poke their heads out of the tiny holes, looking at the Snagems with a mix of confusion and fright, unsure of what to make of these strangers and whether or not they should fear them. They were baby Diglett, it was just as Aile theorized to herself, this hidden chamber that house the warp panel was being used as a sanctuary by the Dugtrio to raise their young. That is what they got out of their arrangement with Giovanni. And the Snagems just knocked out their parents and caretakers.
"...well there is the warp panel...not sure how I feel about this." Larrimore said as he walked up behind the others, looking around at all the young Diglett. "The panel at least looks to be in one piece, for what it's worth. What about the Dugtrio though?"
-----
Back with Amaranth and Rachel...
The two women would reach the outskirts of Viridian City without issue, however as they neared they would notice the increased police presence with local police and SWIPE agents posted at every entrance to the city. While it was not a proper police checkpoint and anyone and everyone was free to enter and leave it did make for a stressful time no doubt.
Once they made their way to the gym they would find the place still surrounded by throngs of people waiting to see what decision would be rendered and in spite of how many officers and agents were here there were nowhere near enough to deal with this many people gathered. This would be to their advantage.
Their goal was to scope out the outside of the gym and look for a weak point if they needed it. As far as they could tell from here most of the people were gathered at the ground by the door, which made sense, but what about the rest of the building?

SubonicXP "...well there is the warp panel...not sure how I feel about this." Larrimore said as he walked up behind the others, looking around at all the young Diglett. "The panel at least looks to be in one piece, for what it's worth. What about the Dugtrio though?" The Dugtrio one by one started to fall and once the dust settled, there were a bunch of Dugtrio that either slumped over knocked out or slinked back down underground, gravity taking them since they were no longer holding themselves up above the ground. The ones that weren’t either of those two probably realized it was no longer worth it. “Ugh, blasted Giovanni…I swear I’d be going after him right now. Though doubt he’d recognize me at this point, so he probably wouldn’t realize anything unless I spelled it right out to him.” Freth said. “Graa?” Grovile spoke up, staring at Freth in confusion. “Ancient history at this point. Come on.” Freth said to the grass type. Freth would walk off, following the others off to the man-made part of the tunnel. Once they arrived to where the alleged warp panel was, Freth could still feel movement about of some sort of objects about her. She then looked over, one Diglett. Then two. Then multiples. Smaller ones. Younger ones. “Wait, is that the reason why those Dugtrio fought so hard?” Freth asked to no one in particular. “Sounds like Giovanni’s MO.” Eris spoke within her consciousness. “As bad as it is for me to say it though, be glad Pokémon exploiting in this fashion is about the most this Giovanni is known for. I’ve known of worse ones.”“I bet you have…” Freth lamented. “…leaves me to wonder what do we do now with these Diglett?”“Nothing. The Dugtrio will eventually come back to the land of consciousness on their own, though probably pissed off if they know that the lot of you are still here. And there’s no telling what kind of measures they’ll take just to take you out now that you flexed that kind of muscle at them. You can’t help it; to them you invaded their home.”Freth sighed, looking back towards Larrimore. “Nothing we can do.” Freth said to the Pinsir hybrid, unbeknownst to him that she was in an agreement with Eris’s assessment. “They’ll be fine, but we don’t want to be here when they start getting back up and moving around again. We need to try to hurry this along.”

Dead silence on the outside. Staring at the witness stand, Deo was not in the biggest of moods. His face was pale, whole body was covered in a cold sweat. It looked like he was zoned out, but he was not. What really was happening inside his mind was the worst. The fact that this case could come out the worst possible outcome.
In his mind was the worst. From the jury declaring guilt, the eruption of the audience. Then there was the sentencing. His cries of anguish and fear being dragged out of the courts and the crowd cheering. He became zoned out, the jeering, the booing, the sneering, and the heckling. It was playing repeat in his mind, and he just could not seem to get it out of his head.
The aura of dread was in his mind, and spreading throughout his body. He began to sweat profusely. The sweat was cold, ice cold. His hand shaking, heart racing, he did not know how he would make it out. Innocent? Guilty? In a stretcher? Only the powers that be know. He knew for one thing though, he was innocent.

Blizzard120 The doctor would stand up once again, tilting his head back to give the court a good look at it. “Those black collars around each of their necks are inhibitors.” I said. “They suppress all matter of latent power that anyone has. Hybrid, human, Pokémon, whatever. You might be thinking, okay, so what? SWIPE had to come in with some sort of edge to bring us to ‘justice’. But I have to bring up the devil in the details. Also within those collars is a trigger mechanism, set to go off automatically either by its captive tampers with it, or if one of these alleged proud operatives both in and out of this room, dressed in white saw fit to press a switch the size of a key fob for your car, to allow those mechanisms to deliver a cocktail of Ebonite and whatever else in it, to execute them right there and there. A doctor and children, need I remind you. Tch…and I’m the ‘executioner’s axe’? Adorable. Ladies and gentlemen, you’re staring at literal guillotines around their necks set to go off at the literal push of a button. And that’s ignoring the possibility of those kids messing with those collars rather because of any reason, like those things chafing, and having it to go off automatically. It also leaves to question about other operations SWIPE has, like their second in command decked out in Team Flare tech, a former Ein mercenary, and speaking of Ein, also in that line up that we very recently found out, one of his experiments, the 17th of 22, all leading the charge of those operations. But it’s okay when you got regional governmental backing initially, right, because they always knew best? Gotta put those tax dollars to work after all. Let’s ask Unova how that turned out.” There's a general rumble of anger at the idea that they would put the children in danger - unfortunately for Doc Owl the majority of the sympathy seemed to be directed at the younger Snagems, but Odd and others that can sense the jury's mind, this little demonstration by the veteran Snagem seemed to sway a few of them in the direction of the team. Criminals they may be, but child murderers this group did not want to be associated as, especially with a public jury. There was a lot of arguing and muttering for a few moments that causes Jenny to bang her gavel, snarling: "Order! Order! Please, let's hear the witness out!" They finally quiet for Blizzard to continue: Blizzard120 “For me in particular, if I have to wake up every god forsaken day assured to seeing something like that, such utter hopelessness and despondence, as part of day-to-day life as I sit around in Mahogany Town, never mind on my own son, wife, friends and family, as I wait on random Pokémon battles, if such a thing would still be permitted at that point, then I want no part of it. I’ll find myself in my grave sooner to see to it that it doesn’t.” With that, I was making the point that things weren’t as clear cut as everyone was making it seem. Their newfound savors were perhaps just as bad, if not worse, than what we are. That just because that the government says its cool doesn’t mean it was cool for the rest of them. It almost drew an unsettling parallel between SWIPE and the rangers that we took out way back in the day, and one that I hoped we never relive, and hopefully there were those in this courtroom that remembered such a thing. As soon as I would be dismissed from the stand, I would return to my seat. I had to admit; I got a hair emotional there towards the end. Cruxias had done his hardest to rub me the wrong way and I just had to vent a little bit. But hopefully it was constructive in the way that the court was going to see it. Whatever the Articuno hybrid was aiming for as he finished the rest of his final statement, he had clearly managed to sway some of the people here at least - his passion leaked through clearly on every word. There were people here who had been through the time with the Rangers, and one in particular seemed to be considering Blizzard with a mix of suspicion and... maybe seeing him through new eyes? The juror Spenser was seemingly caught up in a cloud of contemplation as the Snagem stepped down from the stand and back to his seat. The crowd and jury hushes quickly as Cruxias stands, preparing to call the next witness. He was already moving past Blizz's statements, as he had had his opportunity to cross-examine. "Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, your honor," Cruxias drawls to the box and Jenny as he makes his way back to his customary spot in front of the witness stand, his golden attorney's badge flashing its three spheres as he does. "The next witness the prosecution wishes to call to the stand is..." DeoLux The aura of dread was in his mind, and spreading throughout his body. He began to sweat profusely. The sweat was cold, ice cold. His hand shaking, heart racing, he did not know how he would make it out. Innocent? Guilty? In a stretcher? Only the powers that be know. He knew for one thing though, he was innocent. "The former Sandgem Police Department officer from Sinnoh, now turned Snagem member. The prosecution calls the Luxray hybrid Deo to the stand!" He waves his cane over towards the hybrid sitting in the gallery, pointing with the end of the bright white instrument. There's some shifting as Surge leads the hybrid over to the witness stand, allowing him to settle his enormous bulk behind the microphone. "Now then, si cela plaît au tribunal, monseiur Deo, please state for the court your name, current occupation, and former occupation if you would." The young attorney leans on his cane as he looks at the massive hybrid through his pale-white hair, his black-and-white tie a little loose given the time spent already into the trial.

His heart sank, he was called. He accepted this and went to the stand. He would answer the lawyer "Speak common please. I do not understand what you are saying." He would then answer the actual questions. "My name is Deo, former Sandgem officer of around 7 years and 4 months before an unknown force hybridized me and caused me to become a monster of both hybrid and man" he would catch his breath, still sweating profusely. "I am a rather new operative of snagem with the mission to hunt shadow pokemon and cure them with the antidote which will return shadow pokemon from a hostile infected state to their original selves. I was charged with these crimes which I still have seen no proof nor evidence against us. To my knowledge, I am being charged with the crimes of CYPHER which, might i remind the people, is NOT in anyway SNAGEM." His blood began to boil, knowing that Mr. "sold my soul" of a lawyer would probably twist and turn this into his advantage. Giving the solid stare to the prosecutor.

I couldn’t really have sat down in the chair I returned to once my rather passionate, if albeit heated, defense on the stand was over all that long. Every word I spoke, every murmur and growl the court made, every reaction rang in my head and part of me wondered if I could have done more to expose Cruxias and SWIPE as a whole even more of the absolute bastards they were. I don’t know. And it wasn’t like I had all day to speak. Every step back to my original chair from the stand, every question played out in my head, every means to Cruxias to make me contradict or exacerbate the circumstances. Perhaps being resigned to how Tristen came up played in my favor, but honestly, even then, Cruxias didn’t make it easy. Especially there at the end when he summoned Doc Owl and the kids into the court room. I almost stammered. Almost lost total composure, even. As I made my way back to my chair, in that one instance, I took a look at Doc Owl, in an odd twist, I felt a bit of a second wind of sorts. I had to get them out. An unspoken solemn vow to that doctor and those children.
As I sat there, however, Cruxias would already be back on the hunt again, undeterred about the attempted dismantling of his argument, having all but being called out for accusations being outright confessions on behalf of SWIPE. If there was anything else that had to warrant a reaction out of me, it was who he called next…and it was an act of absolute confusion. “Deo…?” I silently said to myself. I looked over towards the large Luxray hybrid, wondering why on earth would Cruxias have bothered. Deo hadn’t been with Snagem all that long; in fact to my recollection, he and Monique has been around at roughly the same time, being just shortly after the whole World Tournament that was held in Galar. They hadn’t been caught up in the likes of anything really Snagem was being accused of so far, unless something happened in Paldea? Nothing too crazy…sure that whole mushroom business and the Ziton was a thing, but nothing egregious that I can think. Really, the only thing that was truly standout was something Freth did on her own, that being her descent into Area Zero before having to bail out due to that weird mechanical looking Pokémon.
Chances are, it was just going to be more attacks on our character. Had to be. But unlike Monique, Deo actually has history here in this reality. Though it left me to wonder what kind of dirt Deo had to be dug into. Truthfully, I didn’t even know what Deo could have that would be left suspect. I have to admit, I haven’t talked with him that much. A little here. A little there. Barely enough to make acquaintances. Most I knew of him was that he was someone who was forcefully converted into a hybrid…a cop prior to any of that. Beyond that, hell if I know. I looked towards Sub, practically staring into the back of his head, wondering if there was any mission recently before SWIPE came down on our heads that would get Deo frowned upon. For that matter, what exactly what kind of person before he found himself as a lab rat? What exactly what kind of person did Sub bring into the fold?

As Blizzard spoke out in defense of Snagem, Odd felt a shift in the emotional state of the room. It wasn’t profound, exactly, but it gave him hope. Suddenly, he felt a lot less animosity aimed toward them. Something Blizzard said struck a chord with a lot of people, apparently. If their emotions had changed to something positive, it would take the fairy child’s senses to tell but at least “neutral” was better than the outright hatred the Ghost Channeler had felt only a few minutes before. Just maybe, if they continued to plead their case, they would be able to get themselves out of at least the worst-case scenario and walk away with minimal punishment?
Lykas saw the change in Odd’s expression, looking at him curiously for a moment, taking any excuse he could for the moment to not fear losing everything. Odd smiled gently and whispered “It feels like we might be getting through to them.”. Lykas sighed but didn’t say anything in respons, afraid to be too hopeful. He felt that was justified as Blizzard returned to his seat and Cruxias called his next witness to the stand.
“Deo?” “Deo?!”
The pair yelped out quietly, confused in equal measure. Deo had no knowledge of the events relating to Ein, that either of them knew, as far as Snagem was concerned, having joined the team around the time of the World Championship Cup. What could Cruxias be aiming for calling him up? Did he, maybe, know something about the hybrid that none of the Snagems knew? Entirely likely considering the only things anyone seemed to know about Deo within the team was that he’d been a cop at one point and he had been hybridized without his consent. Lykas assumed Cruxias’ intent was to use Deo to somehow slander the team but, most likely, Sub in some way. Perhaps imply Sub was somehow connected and had done so to encourage the man to seek out Snagem? To point out his inherent strength or potential as if Sub intentionally gathered powerful hybrids to make a private ‘army’? The Jellicent hybrid grunted in aggravation at that point. There were entirely too many possibilities and as Cruxias began to question Deo, none were made immediately clear yet. Odd could assume Cruxias’ intent no more readily than his husband and tried to remain calm, focusing on the emotional energy in the room for now.

Clare regrouped with the other Snagems as everyone else managed to either evade, defeat or capture one or more Dugtrio. As everyone gathered in the chamber beyond the false wall, they frowned. “I kinda feel bad for catching it…” They noted to themself, looking down at the Ultra Ball in their hand. “Maybe I’ll let it go when we leave?” They wondered to themself. If they did so, they would once more be defenseless but they could at least take solace in reuniting a family they had unintentionally separated. They watched some of the baby Diglett pop in and out of the various holes around the room before focusing on the warp panel. Unfamiliar with the devices, they asked a question that felt obvious. “How do we make sure it’s working? Toss a coin onto it or something?”

His blood began to boil, knowing that Mr. "sold my soul" of a lawyer would probably twist and turn this into his advantage. Giving the solid stare to the prosecutor. Cruxias, for the first time since the beginning of the trial, smirks lightly as Deo gets onto the stand, spilling out a lot of information all at once. The young lawyer allows the hybrid to get it all out of his system before stepping up to ask his first question. "Now, now, mon chere," the youthful prosecutor says, strolling across the floor back to his desk. "Far be it from me to make such defamatory statements. We are here to discuss the potential crimes that you and your fellow team have allegedly committed, whether or not Cipher is involved has not really come up yet. However, since you've mentioned them I would like to point out to the jury that there is a littany of evidence that has been submitted to the court record outlining not only Team Snagem's involvement but Team Cipher's as well - suggesting the two teams are more than rivals, rivaux durs, as they would have us believe. But rather, the two are bedfellows. Now, that's not relevant to my prosecution line here - but since you brought it up, I thought it expedient for the jury to comment." Cruxias shoots a winning, genuine smile over to the glowering group of Snagems who were seated near the Defendant's table and in the gallery behind. "Now, Deo, moving into my main line of questioning. Is it true you received a radio from SWIPE leadership with the intent of contacting you as an inside man of sorts, a homme de tromperie in order to keep an eye on the team and stay in contact with SWIPE, with the promise that you may be able to be returned to the police force?" To dispel the thought that this was any kind of fabrication or lie, he slides a hand into his briefcase, one white-gloved hand selecting a sheaf of paper out carefully before walking back across the court room to brandish it in front of the hybrid. On the court document was a clear schematic of the device Deo probably had on his very person, the radio Looker and Essentia had given him back in the interrogation sessions that happened in HQ. "If that is the case, please testify to the court what your intent with accepting and using this transmission device was."

Once more with the heart sinking. Deo needed to answer carefully. Though lying was off the table he wanted to shout at the lawyer calling him wicked and the court kangaroo, but no. Deo looked at the paper, at the lawyer, and at the jury. “They made a deal with me to keep a radio to be in contact with them mentioning violence or hostile intent to my grandmother should i refuse. I will say right here and now.” Deo tensed and relaxed a bit. “Not once did SNAGEM make any criminal moves, rather when we were all victimized for crimes which were brought up against us for what? I will say though, the thought of SNAGEM and CYPHER being bed buddies is laughable. But, would you accept a deal with an underworldly being if they threatened your family? Your loved ones? It is a deal with a devil in a sense. Faustian at that. The deals don't stop, how much would you get for hiring former goons and leaders of CYPHER to work for you so you can be persuaded with the false hope of being a ‘Hero of the People’ when in fact, their mission has you as a pawn in a larger, more wicked scheme. I can conclude that this deal with SWIPE” As he takes out his radio and puts it on the witness stand “is done. We are not bed buddies, we were two different teams. If you were threatened with violence against ones you care about, what would you have done? SWIPE gave me an ultimatum, SNAGEM on the other hand as i discovered is very forgiving and trusting of the ones who call them friends. I will never turn again, even under the penalty of persecution or death.”

Monique squirmed in her chair at Cruxias's revelation. Why did this dude fall for this? She shook her head, locks swaying back and forth as her displeasure was the most visible it had been all day.
But she also knew something of it. For one, she'd done a ton for her family, and they had a lot more leverage over people whose families were actually alive intact. And Deo had a relationship with the law and law enforcement that rivaled hers in complexity. She'd seen it. Looker had tried to butter her up and get her to defect, hoping they could pry her from the team. Unfortunately for them, Snagem was her primary bond to this reality.
Monique's trips beyond Ultra Wormholes had shown her there was no shortage of possible landing spots when her world went belly-up. Could have been a mermaid. Could have been eating poison. Maybe somewhere a massive Gothitelle was waiting to beat her up with freakish fists. Or she'd found work in a strip club for a crowd of Arboks.
But she was here, not there, and tapu willing, she was going to stay here.
