"Speaking #7900ac""Thinking #7900ac"

The more time she spent at this godforsaken place, the more inclined to just deck someone she became. Between stupid teachers and their annoying projects, to amped up men that thought they could get into her pants with a quick smile and a sweet word. Gods, what she wouldn’t give to just be able to pop off and slug someone. Just once, without consequences being a part of it. Since she couldn’t, the dark haired princess was forced to resort to the alternative. Which meant spending A LOT of time at the gym.

Having spent most of her day with Ducky doing other “extra curricular activities”, she was left to take up her usual sleeping time to get the aggression out. Dressed in a pair of loose fitting pants and her usual supportive crop top, she jogged through the halls towards her destination. It would have probably been better to just walk, but why would she waste good cardio time? It wasn’t like she could overdo her cardio work, right? Her resting heart rate was phenomenal, so a little more work wouldn’t hurt. Or so she assumed, anyway.

As she closed in on her destination, the sounds of another became more prominent in her ears. Intrigued, Xena slowed down a little so that she wouldn’t screw up her jog or let her presence be known. Was there another crazy person in the academy that thought the same as she? Doubting it, she paced out the last bit of her mini cardio session and came to a stop at the door to the gym. She did her best to remain silent as she gently eased open the door, peeking in a bit to see who it was that had beat her to the place. Who she found surprised her and had a grin curling over her lips.

Violet hair, tawny brown eyes, and freckles covering rather gorgeous skin. She rocked nearly the same piercings in her ear that Xena did and had a tattoo of what looked to be a moon just below her left ear. She was doing one hell of a job moving around the room with a skill that impressed the dark haired woman. Had she just found a new partner to spar with? Not about to look a gift horse in the mouth, she shoved the door open completely and leaned lazily against the door jamb. Her lips curled into a mischievous grin as her eyes followed the other woman’s every move.

”I didn’t peg you to be a southpaw. Color me surprised.” She left it at that, loving the idea that she had gotten the jump on the fascinating female.

                                                        • In the time since arriving in Utopia, Willow had only had the guts to slip out of her room at night to train twice, and this was the second time. Wrapping her hands with strips of fine cotton she may have recycled from a dress she knew wouldn’t be very missed, she flexed her fingers, and tested the impact of her knuckles against her palm. It would do for the time being. It wasn’t proper bandages or tape, but it wasn’t like she could afford to be picky. If her personal maids breathed a word of "masculine" behaviors to Syena, the potential consequences were too great to bear thinking about.

Still, sometimes pacing her room didn’t shake off the burning in her limbs that demanded movement. The only thing that helped was trying to recreate the training the crew had instilled in her since she was young, and while her personal quarters were ******** huge, they weren’t the best place for these sorts of activities. Not unless she wanted to break another table…which was tempting, but probably not worth the scolding or report to the king. No, she was best served in one of the academy’s gyms when people were far less likely to be hanging around.

Testing how her robes’ stupid long fabric moved with some quick footwork, she wasn’t dissatisfied with the results. The whooshiness was kind of fun, even. One hand out and the other tucked behind her back, she circled around an imaginary opponent, visualizing the masked figure of Moonwisp’s helmsman. Yuuga had always been fast as ********, capable of spinning and circling around her like–well, like the wind. Even in Willow’s mind’s eye she was fast. Too fast. Ducking and weaving shadowy blows, she tried to follow through with fisted jabs the quartermaster had taught her, but she had lost too much being cooped up in the queen’s cage over the past year.

Gritting her teeth, she forced herself to slow down. Impatience was the killer of progress. Easy to say and hard to live. She wished she could just jump back to the level she was at before everything went down. When Voss was helping her combine Hypatia’s grappling techniques with swordwork. When she had finally gotten the hang of spinning and throwing knives. When–

A voice cut through the stillness of the room, and Willow leaped into the air like a startled cat, a gust of wind pushing her up to nearly hit the ceiling. She turned as she dropped, hands automatically raised, then registered what she was seeing as her feet hit ground. Oh, it was just a classmate.

                                                          …oh, s**t, it was a classmate.

Xena, she recalled, taking in her dark hair and the even darker clothes that showed off pale, toned muscle and contrasting tattoos. Everything about her screamed a coolness that drew Willow in like a thirsty horse to water, something she would have embraced in as obnoxious a way as possible had this been a year ago. Now she just felt off balance and maybe a little panicky. Someone was seeing her, someone could tell Syena.

Okay, deep breath. This wasn’t Haruka. Xena was probably too cool to gab to Syena. Surely she, too, could see the ten foot stick up his a**, and found it as repellant as Willow did.

"Uh, yeah, that’s me, full of surprises," she said weakly, giving a supporting left jab before straightening into a less wary stance. "I didn’t think I’d see anyone around at this time of night. Couldn’t sleep?"

                                                        • ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

"Speaking #7900ac""Thinking #7900ac"

Laughter rolled out of her the instant her presence triggered the other woman. Gods, if she had been born with fur Xena was more than certain it would have been standing on end! It was both an amusing and impressive sight, but she kept the latter to herself as she leaned into the doorframe. She allowed the sound to echo around them for a few moments before her companion’s feet hit the ground again, then lifted a hand to wipe a few rogue tears from her eyes as she grinned.

”My apologies. I didn’t mean to spook you.” As she spoke, she pushed off the wall and made her way completely into the room. The way Willow spoke, the way her eyes followed her, had the princess wondering if there was something she’d missed. Was her presence unwanted? Most likely, but she wouldn’t let that stop her. Instead, she grabbed a towel from a nearby table and draped it around her neck. She had made the choice to come, so she was going to get her workout. Whether her classmate wished her to or not.

”Something like that.” Xena stretched her arms over her head as she moved around the room, turning away from the other woman to face off with a dummy on the opposite side of the room. ”Figured it would be a better use of my time to come here and beat the hell out of an inanimate object rather than the face of the next person who tried to speak to me like I’m some soft-headed, easily wooed, frilly dress wearing sheep.” To prove her words, she curled her right hand into a fist and slammed it into the dummy’s face. The impact wasn’t much, but she hadn’t put her all into it. She was merely stating a point, after all.

”I mean, we are all here for peace, right? To unite our kingdoms and be friends and blah, blah, blah.” Her hand opened and closed like a mouth, spouting off the words she said as a bored expression passed over her features. She wasn’t here for any of that, but what business was it of this stranger? Leaving it at that, Xena shifted her weight to her right leg and swung her left out to kick the side of the dummy she was still facing. The move shifted the object a bit to the side, allowing her to pivot and strike out with her right hand to send it back the way it had been previously. Damn, it felt good to actually hit something!

”What about you? Is it a drive to hit something as well, or is your subconscious playing keep away and forcing you to remain awake?” Xena turned back to fully face her companion as she asked her question, wanting to see if that look still remained. If she said nothing, or wanted to keep her reasons a secret, the princess wouldn’t bother her. To each their own, after all.
