ɪɴ ᴍʏ ᴇᴀʀꜱpanic and run!

Uriel hated taking medicine. There wasn’t just one reason for it. He could swallow perfectly fine but he didn’t like pills. Lozenges felt weird in his mouth and he despised the taste of most liquid remedies. They were better than needles but not by much. As much as he wanted to curse his body and it’s questionable immune system he knew it would be pointless. Cursing at it wouldn’t change things, and if anything it would piss off one of their many sun Gods and lead to more ailments. Everything felt like a lose-lose result. He could suffer and die from his ailment, or he could make his suffering worse by momentarily subjecting himself to the agony of medicine-taking, then die. Oh, the humanity!

If one were standing a distance away from the academy and facing it, they would be witness to a miniaturized looking figure with dark hair and brown skin making a mad dash across the vast lawn, howling in panic and fear. He made long strides with his legs and pushed his feet into the ground in an attempt to put enough distance between him and the cheetah of a Mars woman that he was certain was behind him. The snap decision was made to turn the corner instead of following the straight path he was previously on and he stumbled a little bit with a bounce to his step before finding stability again. “STAY AWAY FROM ME!” He screeched.

Keeping up this speed was hard. He hadn’t run like this in years. His body was starting to get the jitters. Those jitters when your body was experiencing fatigue. That wasn’t ever good. Now, he knew that he could stop, turn around and tell her off but that was also an ability he was still trying to level up on. That, and it wouldn’t work. He was like a wild rabbit that became her next meal. Speaking of, what was this woman going to actually do to him? What kingdom was she from, and how much did he have to worry? Uriel unleashed another cry only to yelp and side step a light pole before his face became close and personal friends with it. Geez, he couldn’t really think about anything else besides flying like a bat out of hell.

Was this going to be his life now? An existence of being in constant motion, attempting but failing to channel powers from Mercury?

’Bluebird, I am so sorry! Our engagement was so short! Take care of her Micah!’

Of all the things the princess of Mars had expected to spend her day doing, this was definitely not it. She’d woken up excited for the morning. Got herself some grub and went about her routine. Took a run, had a swim, worked out the guns a bit. Pretty easy peasy stuff. Then she’d moved to the sparring ring. In a pair of fitted cloth pants, her boots, and a navy blue tank, she was ready to go. She stretched out, warming up and preparing herself for taking down the dummies she’d set out in the open. Then all of that went straight to hell.

A blur of a man zipped through her ring and nearly knocked her on her a**. Irritation struck first, wondering who the hell the dude thought he was. Had he not seen her? Xena knew she was short, but damn she wasn’t invisible! She’d made it her life’s work to ensure that no one missed her when she was in the room. This guy? He was running as if he had the hounds of hell on his a**. When she’d called out to him, he told her he was avoiding taking his meds. That he hated them, or something like that. If she were being honest, she’d missed most of his part of the conversation when he mentioned nearly flattening her because he was being a coward. Over something that was supposed to help him. Like hell was she going to let that fly!

So, she bolted after him. Of course, this only fueled the chicken man and sent him racing off once more. Damn it, she’d already had her run for the day! She didn’t need more cardio! Cursing the man, the gods, and whomever else she could, Xena pushed herself to keep up with the long legged fool. Her muscles screamed, her chest burned, and still she continued. Even when he demanded she leave him be, she kept going. He was going to take his medicine. Even if she had to knock his dumb a** out and drag him back to the nurse herself!

”Stop being stupid! Just turn your a** around and take the stupid medicine!” She yelled back, anger radiating from her every word. Why was she being punished? She’d done nothing to deserve this. She’d been minding her own business. Hell, she’d actually been good for once! And now, here she was, chasing down a stranger because he’d gone and gotten in her way. Yes, she knew the choice was a little dumb on her side too, but she didn’t think about that. She would handle him then go back to her day. Simple as that.

His near collision with the pole he’d been heading for gave her the in she needed. With one final burst, she launched herself at him and did her best to knock him off balance. If she succeeded, she’d cling to his back until his momentum stalled out and she could grapple for dominance. If she missed, she’d just get back up and start all over. This was going to end up her way no matter how long it took.

When he ran through the raven haired shortstack’s sparring setup, he made sure that in all of his wailing to extend an apology in case he knocked over a dummy or messed up her concentration. Not wanting to take the new medicine was a legitimate reason to make like a zebra getting away from a horse fly. Maybe he could try again tomorrow, or the next day! In the meantime, he could avoid things like food. He could go without eating for 3 weeks or so, right? More time than going without water if he recalled his survival training from so many years ago. He was formulating a plan to get around this.

So when he caught the sound of fast-paced footsteps behind him and saw the fierce woman, Uriel’s panic really set in. She was fast, and she looked so mad. Xena was screaming at him. Gods why did she sound as scary as she looked!?

“NEVER!” The taller man cried out. He didn’t think she’d really get that mad about running through her sparring ring but now it almost sounded as if she was mad about him not taking his medicine. Uriel looked back for a second and at her incredulously. There was a new fear taking hold in his body and he hoped and prayed that she wasn’t looking to make him take his medication! He whined and felt the corners of his eyes becoming wet with sudden tears. ”Who are you and why do you care?!” He had to pause because it was difficult to breathe between words when he was running as hard as he could. Also that’s a really random thing for you to demand at a time like this!”

He missed the pole and thought he was in the clear but it didn't occur to him that his near accident gave his new opponent an in. ”Must go faster, must go faster…!” he chanted to himself but it did nothing to motivate his legs. Next thing Uriel knew was that his assailant was on his back and she had a hold on him he wasn’t confident he could shake. Even worse, the momentum in her leap to his back messed with his balance and with a yell, he toppled over into a clear spread of what looked like soft green grass.

The grass betrayed him. It was anything but soft.

The Funkazan prince’s glasses went flying as he made contact with the ground. “GET FOVH-” He started to demand Xena got off of him but found it impossible to do that let alone breathing with grass and dirt in his otherwise clean mouth. Uriel put his hands to the ground and pushed himself up a little while audibly trying to get the grass and dirt out. It tasted awful, just like beets or kale… or his medicine! Oh Gods, this tasted just as bad as his last one!

He needed to get away and he told himself he still had a chance! Uriel couldn’t run but he still had his arms and legs so he could crawl. Quickly he got into position to commando crawl and worked on moving forward. Sure, the woman was still on his back but was still going to try.

The cry of refusal only added to the rage that was racing through the petite woman. She was going to beat this guy's a**, drag him back to the nurse, and force feed him the damn medicine. She was going to make it hurt and enjoy every goddamn minute of it! The images her mind created for her of such an event had a wicked grin playing over her features. To anyone that caught sight of her, she’d look like a crazy woman out for blood. Which, of course, she was.

”Coward!” She screamed the word right back, not at all caring about his feelings right now. At his question, she almost screamed for a different reason. Was he blind as well as stupid?! Betting on it, Xena hugged out a breath and kept her mouth shut. She wasn’t going to dignify anything he had just said with a response. He didn’t deserve it. Instead, she picked up the pace. Making him pay was her sole purpose now.

When her moment came, she took it. And ended up wrapped around him like some kind of monkey. Did she care? Not in the slightest. She used it to her advantage and wrapped her body around his, taking him down just like she had planned. He might have been bigger than her, but that wouldn’t stop the Martian princess. She was a hunter, and right now, he was her prey. And Xena always got her man.

”Like hell am I going,” She started, fingers gripping his shirt as he tried to fight her off. ”To let you get away with what you did!” The thought to bite him flashed through her mind, but she pushed that aside immediately. There was one person in her life that was sure to give her one hell of a lecture for biting someone that hadn’t asked for it. And the last thing she wanted was to give Ducky more ammunition to lecture her with. Not that he wasn’t adorable when he did. The thought had her grinning as she fought the chicken boy, doing her best to stay on his back.

The feel of his body rising from the ground surprised her, having expected the man to be as weak as the foal she thought him to be. It caught her off guard and had her losing her grip, her body tumbling to the side to end up on the grass with a soft thud. Cursing, she scrambled and did her best to get back to where she’d been. This had already gone on long enough. And she still had to finish the rest of her work out.

Coward?! Uriel was no coward!

But even he knew there was some truth to that as much as he didn’t want to admit it.

The woman was as relentless as she was alarming for his nerves. Feeling her latch on to his back was a signal that the end was near. Maybe he should just let it happen and enjoy the sweet release this raven haired angel of death had to offer. If he complied, she’d go easy on him, right?

He didn’t want to comply. Uriel’s mind was willing but his body felt like burning gelatin as he pushed himself up from the grassy patch they occupied. He even managed to get her off of him. This was his moment, his chance to get another head start on her! With one leg bent up and his foot against the ground, he attempted to lunge himself up and get upright before she got the chance to stop him again.

Except this time Uriel fell face first back into the ground just as fast as he rose from it uneventfully. He could feel her weight on his back again, but this time he laid there as he felt the cool of the grass against his face and arms. ”Don’t make me do it!” He blurted out, throwing an arm out in an half-assed attempt at surrender. Xena had screamed at him to take his medicine, was he going to make her? Gods, she just might. ”I’ll.. I’ll help clean up the mess but then just pretend you didn’t see me after! I’ll… I’ll…” He needed to think quick, what would she take in exchange for taking his help and letting him walk away with his life!?

Then it hit him. Thank the Gods they actually gave his lame a** something cool and useful! ”I’ll make you some cool dragon armor! It’ll take a… a couple of weeks but… it will be worth the wait, I promise!” Uriel was at the bargaining stage in his grief over taking medication, and he wasn’t ashamed. Okay, maybe a little. He breathed heavily between his words and dropped his arm down above his head. If this didn’t work, he was going to need to come up with something else. His energy was mostly expended, so he was limited in his options.

”She is smaller…” Uriel wasn’t sure just what the exact height and weight difference between them was but he knew he was bigger. And she obviously did some kind of physical training, something he was now wishing he had kept up with. Could she lift him though? Would she even try, or think to? Maybe if he just laid here and played opossum, she’d get bored and leave…

LOCATION: School grounds xxx COMPANY: Chicken boy xxx CLOTHING: Xena’s outfit

"Speaking #7900ac""Thinking #7900ac"

The gods were on her side this time, his attempt at fleeing again ending with him eating grass for a second time. It pulled a giggle from her lips as she pounced right back onto him. Her knees pressed into his sides to keep her locked onto him, her fingers curling into the back of his shirt for added support. She wasn’t going to let him buck her off again. Especially when he opened his mouth and began spouting foolish nonsense back at her. Gods, this guy was something else!

”Dude, it’s just medicine! Why are you being such a child about it? From the looks of you, you need it more than you are letting on. Why not just bite the bullet and get it over with? Save us both the trouble.” Was she really trying to barter with this guy? This was a first for her. She contemplated using a dagger to get him to just do as she wanted, but realized she’d left the lot of them back at the sparring grounds. Cursing under her breath, Xena shook her head as he continued begging her to set him free. Nothing was going to get him what he wanted, not now that he’d royally pissed her off. Even his offer for armor had her rolling her eyes, doubting the crybaby could accomplish such a feat.

”I don’t want, nor need, anything from you. Other than for you to grow a pair and get back to the nurses office. If you go, I can try and salvage what is left of my workout that you so rudely interrupted.” The feel of him giving up beneath her had her swallowing another laugh. Wow, she had expected at least a little more of a struggle. Not that she minded, of course. If he was giving up, she’d just haul his a** back to the office herself. He might have quite a few inches on her in height, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t make good on her word.

”Now, are you going to be a good boy and get there on your own, or am I going to have to hogtie your a** and drag you there myself?” She shifted a bit on his back to lean forward, putting her lips next to his ear so he could hear just how serious she was being over all of this. Her chest pressed down against his back, fitting her to him for a moment. Dark hair fell over her shoulder at the moment, her ponytail blocking the rest of the world out as she lowered her voice to a whisper that was meant for him alone.

”You’re only going to get this offer one time, so you’d better hurry up and choose. If it wasn’t obvious, I’m not a patient woman. And I always get my way. Tick tock, handsome.” With that said, she flashed him a bright grin and loosened her hold on his shirt. The ball was in his court now, and if he tried to run she’d just chase his a** down again. She’d get her workout either way.

Any hope that he wouldn’t have to set foot into Ms. Trethewey’s office was fading away fast like light after sunset. He was exhausted and the woman on his back was more persistent than ever. Uriel wouldn’t be able to shake her off, not with how latched on she was. He closed his eyes and frowned as he heard Xenia berate him. At one point, he could have sworn he heard her laugh. ’Alhazin help, she’s enjoying this!’

He had plenty of reasons to avoid medicine with discomfort being the best of them all. Pills were chalky and bitter, liquids tasted like ink and mildew, and needles… he didn’t want to think about needles. ”What! I’m fine!” The cough that followed did nothing to back up his claim and he pursed his lips after with disappointment in his body. ”It never seems to work either!” His body lifted from the ground for a moment but fell back just as quick. Maybe she was right. If he did go back and take the medicine, all of this would go away, at least until it was time for the next dose. He let his forehead fall onto the ground and groaned in opposition.

”Now, are you going to be a good boy and get there on your own, or am I going to have to hogtie your a** and drag you there myself?” He didn’t want to be a good boy if it meant taking the medicine, but what other options did he have? All of his attempts to dissuade the raven-haired iron lady were brushed off or objected outright. He stared ahead of himself with fear of the thought of him being hogtied. His shoulders twitched at the thought of what pain would come with it. And just when he thought things couldn’t get anymore frightening, he felt her lean over and whisper into his ear the conditions of her offers. His breath hitched as he listened. Much like her patience, the last bit of fight in him evaporated.

”I’ll-I’ll go. I’ll go.” Both choices had the same ending and he did not want what would come of being hogtied. He waited until Xenia was fully off of his back before turning over to sit up. He raised an outstretched hand up so that he could catch his breath before getting to his feet. Now that he was able to see her outside of brief glimpses mid-run, he could see that she looked as menacing as she sounded, like she would eat him for lunch and use his bones to clean her teeth. That could have also been the fear talking. He hoped it was.

”Are you going to follow me?” He pulled his long scattered hair together and smoothed it back into a more uniform ponytail. It was time for his death march to the nurse’s office. Uriel pushed himself up to his feet and brushed off what dirt he could find loosely on his clothes. ”Cause you don’t have to, I’ll go.” Not that he thought she’d believe him.
