tab Charlene could tell she took his off guard and couldn’t help but find it attractive in it’s own way. She wasn’t used to being the surprising one after living at her home for so long and getting used to the surprise she caused being good. When he lifted her hand up and she felt his lips brushing across her knuckles she had to fight the butterflies in her stomach from showing on her face. She thanked her mother in that moment, as she was able to keep herself from completely going red at the thought that crossed her mind. ’ I want him to do that again…’ she knew it was foolish of her to think that this could be a good idea, but honestly? He had this sort of charm around him that she wasn’t used to seeing in her own court, or even in the Alore courts. She smiled slightly and exhaled out her nose gently. ” I can tell. You must have had someone who taught you well.” she admittedly wasn’t sure exactly what he meant by it, but he was kind and that’s what mattered.
tab She hoped that he got her hints but she didn’t notice too much of a reaction. She figured that he was probably being cautious as well, this situation wasn’t what people were used to. She made the mental note of him slowing his pace a little bit for her. The feeling of his thumb brushing over her knuckles caused her to glance down briefly and she felt her heart skip a beat once before she was pulled out of her thoughts by his offer. She thought about it for a moment but didn’t reply right away. She didn’t really have a concern about her shoes, it was more about the terrain they were walking through. She hummed gently before she heard his reply about being raised on the streets. Admittedly, she was surprised, she took him for an outdoorsy noble.
tab With another flick of her eyes, she allowed herself to look him over and it began to make a little more sense. He didn’t like being inside a building, was used to doing his own thing. It made sense to her. She looked back ahead as she smiled softly and exhaled. ” That makes sense. I grew up in a household where appearance and reputation were everything.” even if it was a slip, she wanted to show him she too trusted in him enough to tell him a little about herself. ” Perhaps that’s why it’s so appealing to spend time with people who aren’t so…” the duchess paused, pursing her lips and pressing her finger to them before she glanced over and smiled at him. ”…strict about things.” She found herself enjoying her time with him more the more he said.
tab Her mind went back to his previous offer and as she gave his hand a soft squeeze she spoke again, keeping an eye on him out of the corner of her gaze. ” As for your offer…I think I might actually take you up on it. Perhaps it would get us there faster if you were able to move more freely.” she knew it was probably surprising but she enjoyed it previously, she almost wanted to see his expression again. In addition, perhaps, if she was being honest with herself, she was finding herself wanting to be closer to him.

When his kiss earned him nothing more than a smile, he couldn’t help but wonder if he was misreading things. Was he really just a guide here? Someone to give her an experience she’d never had before then return her back to her room? Not sure what to think, Luka chuckled softly at her words and shook his head. Oh, if she only knew the truth. He wouldn’t bother her with his sob story tonight, but made a note to circle back to it should they find themselves together again. And he really hoped they did.
”Not really. It’s mostly things that I’ve picked up from watching people. The mannerisms, the tone, the way they walk and all that. I used to do it a lot after my…” Cutting himself off short, he shook his head and cleared his throat. Nope. He had already decided he wasn’t going there. ”I used to do it a lot growing up like I did. No one notices the kid in the alley when they’re busy chatting up the grocer or tasking their footmen with how they want their horses cared for.” Luka grinned at the memory his words created, having always tried to mimic the men he’d seen from the sidelines. It had helped him find his own way of doing things. His own little quirks and habits that made him into the man he was today.
As silence stretched out between them again, he did his best not to watch her. She had to be second guessing her choice. Any moment now, she was going to tell him that he was not worthy of her attention. That she had made a mistake. That he was a cad and a perv and he had better return her to the campus before she screamed that he was trying to assault her. The images such thoughts created in his mind had him swallowing hard as panic raced through him. He considered what the consequences would be for taking a high class lady like Charlene out to the middle of the woods. Alone. Unchaperoned. And could practically feel his body sweating through his shirt. Damn it all, this was going to end so badly!
The arrival of her voice nearly had him jumping in surprise, having been too far in his own mind worrying over silly things. Wait, she wasn’t regretting this? She wasn’t wishing he would take her back to her room? She found him…appealing? For a moment, all Luka could do was blink at her. He used every trick he had to figure a person out, to read between the lines in their words. And she was telling him…the truth. Well, hot damn! Grinning once more, he gave her hand a squeeze in return and stopped them to turn and face her. His free hand reached out to tuck a few rogue strands of her golden hair behind her ear, the urge too strong for him to deny with her so close.
”Your beauty is wasted on the indoors, Charlene. You glow out here in the night air. Like the goddess of the moon brought to life, lowering herself to spend time with a common fool.” He let his fingers trail lightly over her cheek before stepping in closer, releasing his other hand to wrap his arm around her waist. For a few seconds, he stayed as he was. Close enough to see the stars in her eyes, to marvel over the tantalizing softness of her curves. Even with the heels on, she fit perfectly in his arms. Another thing to marvel over, he mused, before he scooped her effortlessly up into his arms.
”It’s not much further from here. I don’t like to be too far from the main campus. Just in case Alosa needs me for anything.” His sister was the only reason he had come, and the only reason he stayed within shouting distance. He wondered over what she’d think of the situation he had found himself in, only to shove it aside just as quickly as it had come. The last thing he needed to be doing was thinking about his sister while he had a gorgeous woman in his arms. Luka adjusted her a bit to keep her comfortable before starting off again to where he’d been spending most of his nights out under the stars. tab Charlene didn't miss him cutting himself off and while she was curious what he was planning on saying, she was going to respect what he was comfortable telling her. His words made sense and for a split second she pictured a boy that looked like him just watching people, earning a soft laugh out of her. " Well you're resourceful on top of it all, how lucky am I that you're my guide?" she gently teased him a little bit, while not really meaning it. She was grateful he was willing to take her out knowing that she knew nothing about the whole idea of camping even if she found it exciting. Even more so when she was able to spend time with someone who she found as interesting as she did with Luka.
tab When she spoke about enjoying her time, his reaction was more than she had expected it to be. He clearly hadn't expected her to be enjoying this, and if she were honest the only thing she wasn't enjoying was the fact that she was in heels walking through the woods. If she had the proper footwear, it would be an entirely different matter. She could almost feel his eyes trying to figure out if she meant what she said, to which she just tilted her head to the side innocently. When he grinned, she figured he'd come to his conclusion. She stopped next to him, blinking softly before her cheeks flushed slightly at the touch of his fingers pushing her hair back behind her ear, and lingering on her cheek. She felt her breath catch in her chest softly as he spoke, his words sounding that of almost a poet, his last words making her smile gently. At first she didn't know what to say to that. No one had spoken of her so fondly for years, especially knowing she had a child. As he wrapped his arm around her waist, she was reminded of how tall he was. Her mind flashed back to dance class, and she couldn't help but wonder how well of a dancer he might be.
tab The few moments where he just held her close she could almost feel her heart ready to beat out of her chest. Having him near her was making her a little nervous, but in the way that she enjoyed having him close and wasn't sure exactly what to think about it. It had been, what, five years since anyone had looked at her that way? She was pulled out of her own thoughts as he lifted her up and the effortless way he seemed to be able to hold her took her by surprise. She could tell that he was strong from his arms but he didn't seem to be worried at all.
tab As she rested her right hand on her stomach she took a soft breath and leaned her head against his shoulder, smiling at the mention of his sister again. Or so she assumed. " Alosa is a lucky girl, I have yet to meet her but I've heard the name around." she was surprised, if this other woman was as social as her brother, she would likely run into her sometime. Probably soon now that this was happening. She closed her eyes and moved her left hand so it rested very gently, but intentionally against his chest. " You flatter me. You may call yourself a common fool, but your company is much nicer than you probably realize." she also knew that she wasn't entirely the "normal" for a noble lady, but she was enough so in title and initial appearances. She slowly opened her eyes while keeping her head rested against his shoulder, her eyes flicking up to steal a glance at his side profile. " And...if it's not too forward..." she was well aware he was carrying her, and they'd been going back and forth a while now. " You're more handsome than you give yourself credit for." her left hand slowly raised, pausing just before she reached his cheek before she waited a moment to see what he'd say.

The little teasing she gave him had him chuckling softly. Resourceful was a soft word for what he was. Sneaky, conniving, greedy were much better ones, in his opinion. Of course, he kept that to himself. She was of a more delicate breed. From a world that was sure to have been kept away from the horrors and nightmares that his life had consisted of. He wasn’t about to ruin her view on things just because she didn’t understand him. Hell, no one really did at this place. So, he tucked it away and kept his smile easy as he moved them through the woods.
”If anyone here is lucky, Miss Charlene, it is me. I get to spend time with someone as fascinating and beautiful as you.” It was the closest bit of truth he was willing to give her. The Fates had been smiling on him tonight to have her walk into the same part of the trees he’d been occupying. Even more so when she agreed to spend time with him. It gave him a serious kick to have her close, in his arms, and he was going to ride it as long as she’d let him.
Feeling her settle into his hold had that warmth returning to his chest. It made him feel strong, wanted, and better than he had in a while. He’d missed this. The simple intimacy with someone. Granted, he had his sister, but that was different. That was family. This, with Charlene? It was on a whole nother level. It was intimate and sensual and…words he couldn’t even come up with. Maybe it was because it’d been so long since he’d been close to another. Or maybe it was just how different they were. Whatever the case was, Luka allowed himself to enjoy it and the way she fit so perfectly in his arms.
”I’m sure you’ll meet her in no time. She’s not a shy person, which is both a blessing and a curse in my life.” The thought of his sister softened his features and had him smiling sweetly. He loved the girl, but she was going to give him a heart attack. Luka was sure of it. Her touch helped bring him back from thoughts of his sibling and into the moment again. He could feel her hesitation in the way her hand rested, in the way she watched him without directly looking at him. It was a slight relief to know she was just as nervous about the situation as he was. And that she wasn’t adverse to touching him, even in such a small way.
”I only speak the truth, and thank you. It’s nice to know that I haven’t shoved too much of my boot into my mouth just yet.” He chuckled softly at his own words, stepping over a fallen branch as he maneuvered through the trees. The feel of her moving brought his amber eyes down to hers, surprise dancing through their depths at the compliment she gave. Was she…She was! There wasn’t a single bit of untruth on her expression, and her hand was reaching to touch. To settle on his cheek. Giving in, Luka turned his face a bit and pressed a kiss to the palm of her hand. He nuzzled into it, tipping his head slightly so he could feel the warmth of her touch as he looked back down at her.
”Coming from someone as enchanting as you, that’s the best compliment I’ve ever gotten.” With a few more steps, he finally came to a stop and looked away to where his tent was set up in the shadows of a large oak. His makeshift camp was simple enough, but he was okay with it. He just hoped she was too. ”Would you like something to eat? I’m sure I could whip us up something quick and easy.” The offer was made to help ease her of any nerves she might be carrying. And to give him something else to do with his hands than what he really wanted to do with them. tab Charlene couldn't help herself, she had been so surprised by the events that she was genuinely not expecting her thoughts to be returned. Sure, she had lived her life in the comfortable style of that of a noble but at the same time she had been told that she was undesirable because of her daughter. That she should have taken the out her parents had given her, to have her raised as her sister and not her child. Bree was proof that she wasn't pure anymore and for her family the perfect image was what really stood out in what they wanted for the family. It sucked, but even now as Bree turned five she was only partially being accepted by those around her. So for Luka to outright not care, and even seemingly appreciate her devotion to her child, it made her heart beat in a way that she hadn't felt for years. Perhaps she had a chance yet.
tab Even as she listened to him speaking of his sister she laughed under her breath and shook her head. " Is that not what siblings are meant to do?" even without the experience of siblings that's what she had gathered from the ones she was around who did have siblings. Naturally she did want to feel what it was like, but she wasn't going to sacrifice her parenthood for such a thing. The best she could do now was to give Bree that life she had wanted for herself. His reaction to her next words made her heart skip slightly, he looked genuinely surprised again. Was he so used to not being told the truth?
tab When he turned his head and pressed a kiss to her palm she felt her breath catching in her throat. His face was a little scratchy but it almost felt good. He clearly had been through more than she had, physically anyway, because even his lips felt rougher than most noblemen. She couldn't help the blush that worked it's way across her face at the next thought to go through her mind. ' I wonder what they'd feel like against my own...' her hand that was still up by his cheek twitched slightly against him before she widened her eyes for half a second, leaning her head against his shoulder more, her head tilting into him slightly as if trying to hide her blush but she knew he'd seen it and it was too late. Not that she minded him seeing it, but she hadn't felt this...light in a long time. Never mind the physical aspect of it, with him carrying her, emotionally she felt like she was able to just exist in this moment without having to worry about expectations.
tab His next question made her blink in surprise, before she turned her head slightly and her hand dropped but not too far, settling on his shoulder lightly. Her blue eyes shifted over his camp he'd made and she smiled slightly. " Resourceful and Affective." she remarked quietly, before her looked up at him. " Sure, hosts choice of course." she wasn't too terribly hungry, considering how late it was but she had a feeling that she would want to have a little bit more energy later. She closed her eyes before smiling and pushing her hair back with her hand, blue eyes meeting amber moment later. " I look forward to seeing you in your element, that being out here in nature." she found it relaxing herself, even though her heart wouldn't stop pounding harder than usual.
tab Luka was to blame for that, but she didn't know if he could feel it even as she was leaned up against him. She wasn't quite ready to admit it to him either, but she was slowly getting there. Her curiosity as to how his lips felt lingering at the back of her mind.

”Honestly, I’m not really sure. She’s my half sister, and my arrival here at the academy was the first time we’ve ever met. I knew about her growing up, but she never knew me.” It was still a sore subject, even after the time he’d been able to spend with his sister. He did his best not to let it show, simply keeping his smile in place and shrugging it off as if it were nothing in the grand scheme of things. Tonight wasn’t the night to go into all of that. And Charlene wasn’t the person to listen to his sob story. Not yet, anyway.
”Which is probably a good thing, if you think about it. I don’t know how I would have been if we’d been close from birth and both sent here. Might have driven her crazy just on the way here.” The thought had his laughter rumbling in his chest again, knowing exactly what he would have done had he and Alosa grown up together. His world would have been vastly different and he’d have been even more overprotective than he was already becoming. Not that he would have minded, of course. She would have been the one to hate it, and that was something Luka hoped never happened.
The catch of her breath pulled his focus back and had his body tensing a bit in response. Okay, he hadn’t expected that. Was she…into him? Like, seriously? He knew she liked him enough to be alone with him, but was there something else? A more…intimate side to things? Or was he just reading into it too much? Betting on the latter, Luka studied her enchanting features and felt his heart trip a bit at the color on her cheeks. Gods, she was killing him. She was warm, soft, and breathtaking. And she was in his arms. With her face turned into his shoulder, her hair brushing his jaw and filling his senses with the scent of her. Sweet and floral, like orchids in the moonlight. Damn it all, he was screwed.
Thankfully, her voice snapped him from his daze and had him scrambling to get back to where he’d been mere moments ago. Right. Food. He could do this. Shifting her in his arms, he gently set her back onto her feet but didn’t step back. His hands stayed on her hips, his head lowered to hers, amber eyes drowning in a blue so deep it was like being pulled in by a wave. A crashing tide that he knew he would happily let him tug him under until there was nothing but the two of them. Nothing but this moment, this woman, and what they could be together. Damn it, he wasn’t going to last much longer if he kept touching her.
”Hosts choice, huh? Hmm, let’s see. I have coffee, marshmallows, some left over bacon that I snagged from the cafeteria earlier, tea, and biscuits. I might even have some chocolate in my pack. We could do smores, if you’re wanting something sweet…” His voice trailed off as his eyes lowered to her lips, his words turning his mind onto how sweet she must taste. Would she be tart and sharp, like some of the noblewomen he’d known? No, she had to be sweeter than that. Not quite as rich as chocolate, but definitely on that level. Like honey. Yes, exactly that. One of his hands moved before he could stop it, cupping her cheek gently to run his thumb over her bottom lip.
”I’m sorry, Charlene…I find myself unable to think about much when you’re so close. You are the best kind of distraction. Has anyone ever told you that?” Location: His little campsite Company: Charlene Thoughts: 'Gods, what in the hell am I going to do now?!’

Charlene was admittedly a little surprised that for someone who spoke so highly of his sister that they had not grown up together. Not that it was uncommon for siblings in royalty and nobility to not know of each other; she herself had that realization when a second princess found her way to Utopia that even she didn't even realize existed. Surely Menodora and Balim were dealing with that in their own way. Alkmene surely would figure it out as well; she always did. She forced herself to pull her mind away from the affairs of her own court, the fact that she was being carried by a man she'd just met that night wasn't beyond her. She cracked a slight smile as she rested her head against him. He made her feel safe in a way that she hadn't in a long time. Like nothing else mattered then where they were in the moment. ' He must be a protective brother.' she thought to herself before closing her eyes for a moment. " Well, you have more experience even than I. I have no siblings to speak of, in fact the closest I have had been the other duchy and even that is strained." she didn't go into further detail because she didn't want to weigh down the situation but perhaps one day they could discuss deeper matters.
His reaction to her reaction had her blushing even further. He seemed surprised and she didn't understand how he hadn't had more people interested in him in this way. Normally she wasn't this touchy this soon, but something about him had drew her in quickly. She allowed her feet to touch before she stood fully, straightening the side of her dress as she looked up to him. Even in heels she was still a good few inches shorter than he was. Height wise though it was almost ideal. She tilted her head as he rattled off what they could do for food and her blue eyes lit up at the thought of chocolate but then the mention of smores made her pause. " Pardon me and my lack of knowledge," she began softly, tilting her head slightly looking up at him. " I do not believe I am familiar with this which you call a Smore." she was quite interested but that did not mean she knew what it was. If it had to do with chocolate, well, it couldn't be that bad.
She didn't miss his eyes landing on her lips, causing her to inhale softly and her lips parted slightly. He was going to have her a flustered mess by the end of all this if he didn't stop staring! She didn't look away from his face however this did not save her from being surprised by his actions. Suddenly she felt his hand on the side of her face, her blue eyes widening as she felt his calloused thumb brushing against her bottom lip. She was frozen for a moment, not having expected him to be so forward. Nobody had ever been interested in her in that way since they heard about her daughter and here, he was touching her like he didn't mind. She felt her fingers twitch softly before she slowly raised her hand up and set it against the outside of his that was against her cheek. She leaned her face into his hand softly, her fingers brushing against the outside of his hand. Her eyes softened as she smiled, her lips brushing against his before she intentionally pressed her lips together in a gentle kiss against this thumb. " I can't say anyone has, most people run the other direction when they find out about my daughter." she had to admit it was nice to still feel wanted despite what she'd been told for so many years.
Her eyes fluttered closed as she squeezed his hand with her own, her cheeks were flushed bright red but she had a calm almost content look on her face. His hand was warm and she found herself shifting one foot forward so she could set her other hand against his side. " If I'm that much of a distraction," she paused, her eyes opening again as she peered up into his eyes feeling that same pull that she had felt before. This man had her wrapped around his thumb and he didn't even know it. " I would happily continue to be so if you'd like me to." each word she said caused her lips to brush against his thumb, the sensitive skin there tingling softly. She had a thought she didn't have for many years, but she knew it was true as she looked up at him. She wanted him to kiss her.

Before he’d come to Utopia, Luka would have been in the same boat. Even though Alosa and Calypso had been born by then, they hadn’t been his siblings. Hell, he wouldn’t even consider the first month he was at the academy as having a sibling. It wasn’t until after the conversation he’d had with Lo that he had truly begun to feel like he had a sister. It was still a feeling he enjoyed having, and hoped he could keep even after his time at the academy. Their father was the wild card. He was their biggest obstacle. He could only hope that, when the time came, they were able to face it together.
At the sound of her voice in his ear again, he brought himself back to the present and found his jaw dropping open. He gaped at her like a fish as his mind tried to make sense of what she’d just told him. A part of him knew he shouldn’t have been so shocked, what with her upbringing. But what kind of person would keep their kid from trying a s’more? It was like a rite of passage, for crying out loud! Determined to fix this, Luka shook his head and snapped his lips closed again. He was going to give her the best s'more ever made! He had a recipe that was sure to win her over, the thought returning his grin back to his lips.
”Then it’s your lucky day, beautiful. I am the king of making s’mores. You’ll never be able to look at a marshmallow again without wanting to make one of these. Guaranteed.” His excitement danced in his amber eyes as he watched her, still fascinated by the fact that she hadn’t tried one of the delicious treats. If she hadn’t, then that meant her kiddo hadn’t either. Which was a travesty, in his opinion. Luka made a mental note to write down exactly how to make his special s’mores before the stillness in her body pulled him back.
The press of her lips to his thumb had his pupils blown wide, desire racing like wildfire through his body. Damn it all, he was losing the fight. He was going to end up kissing her, or worse, losing himself in her right there on the grass. Would that make him a horrible person? Or just a normal, red blooded man? Not that he’d push her into it, of course. She held all the control. Whatever she wanted, Luka was happy to go along with. Whether it was sharing s’mores, a simple kiss, or…something more. He wasn’t the kind of man that crossed that line, and he hoped that Charlene could see that in the way he held back.
At her mention of how she was treated because of her child, his anger flashed over his features for a moment. How anyone could fault her for keeping her child was beyond him. It wasn’t like she had made a bad choice. Being a mother, bringing a life into the world, was one of the bravest things he’d ever known. His own mother had done it all on her own, and he would be forever grateful to her for it. Charlene was so much more than the people around her believed her to be, and he hoped she realized this. Sooner rather than later.
”Well, you won’t catch me running. Not from you, anyway.” Leaving it at that, he moved to let his hand fall back to his side. The feel of her stepping closer stilled the action immediately and had him right back to where he’d been moments again. She was…intoxicating. And she was touching him now! Not in a casual way. Her hand was on his side. The contact sent his heart racing, the damn thing nearly thundering in his chest at the continuous brush of her lips on his skin. It was only his thumb, but damn it all, it was hot. The heat of it burned through him and tightened his hold on her waist, his fingers gripping the fabric of her dress to keep her close. He didn’t want her to move, didn’t want her to leave. He wanted…So much more than was good for him.
”Honey, I’d like you to be a lot of things. Things that I really shouldn’t…” Luka paused, moving his hand from her cheek to slide up into her hair. The blonde waves were like silk, sliding over the roughness of his palm as he cupped the back of her neck. A soft pull of his arm brought her closer, his body brushing hers as he leaned into her a bit. Gods, could she feel his heart beat? It was pounding so loudly in his ears he was surprised the damn thing wasn’t trying to break out of his damn chest!
”You are so above my level that this has to be a dream. Or a really, really messed up nightmare.” The words came out as a whisper as he watched her, his body moving without him having to give the order. He wanted to feel her lips on his, wanted to see if she tasted as sweet as she looked. And he’d happily go to hell for it, if she let him. ”Tell me that I’m wrong, Charlene. Tell me to walk away, and I will. This is the only chance I’m going to be able to give you now that you’re in my arms.”[/b Location: His little campsite Company: Charlene Thoughts: 'Gods, this is happening…Please don’t tell me to stop…’

Charlene found herself to be stumping him. Was it so surprising that she hadn't had that treat? Surely it was something he had more often when he was younger, so perhaps that was why. She was only treated to the best of things for better or worse; and clearly, she had missed out in a big way. She couldn't help but laugh under her breath as he stared at her for a moment before he managed to pull himself together. She shook her head and smiled back up at him as he promised she'd never look at a marshmallow the same way again. She had to admit it was kind of fun to think of things in this simpler way, not having to worry about judgement from others and even that lingering tension in the air that she knew that she felt, as he had to at the same time. And if he didn't, well perhaps she was getting bad at this flirting thing. " Perhaps it wasn't as common the higher up things went, regardless, I do look forward to tasting it." she looked forward to tasting more than that, but the thought of the combination did make her wonder how it was.
His reaction to her lips pressing against his thumb had her heart pounding. She could tell she had an effect on him and it was obvious in the way he looked at her. Although she could tell he was holding back, the idea that he was trying to be good and not push her limits made her feel good. She had that feeling of butterflies in her stomach, the very same ones she had heard from her daughter that she had when she was nervous. Was this going to be a thing? She breathed out as the anger flashed across his face however, her own eyes widening slightly. He was angry for her sake? She softened her gaze and after a moment she smiled softly. His reassurances made her feel better as she closed her eyes again and leaned her head into his hand slightly even as he began to move his hand away. She felt him still again as she spoke, and she exhaled out of her nose before she replied to his words. " That's very comforting to know. I'm glad you aren't put off by the fact that I'm a mother."
In this moment though? She felt like anything but a mother; she felt like a woman, something she hadn't felt in a long time and something about his charms was bringing it out in her and she loved it. As she felt his hand tighten on her hip, she knew her face went even redder, but she slowly opened her eyes. His words made her breath catch and as he slid his hand up from her cheek and against the back of her neck, she felt a shiver run down her spine. His hands were calloused from his life, clearly, he'd been active doing more things than your usual nobility. She didn't mind that fact though, and it made her feel like she was in capable hands and that she was safe. She allowed her hand to slowly lower to rest against his chest softly. She didn't move her hand from where it settled but she could feel his heart beating from the light touch. As he pulled her in a little bit closer, she raised her eyes up to meet his. The connection there made her make her final decision. This was going to happen. Even as he leaned in closer, she closed her eyes slightly, her lips curled into a soft smile as she tilted her head back into his hand on her neck slightly. " Well if this is dream, then I'm just as lucky, because I never imagined I'd find someone like you here." she murmured softly, before she pressed up on her toes, closing the ever-shortening distance between them.
Charlene's eyes fluttered closed as she pressed her lips against his. They were warm, rougher than she anticipated but at the same time softer. She tightened her hand softly against his shirt, leaning further into him as she let herself give in to the feeling that he had begun to create in her.

The response she gave him about the s’mores was lost to him at that moment. There was nothing but her eyes. Her lips. That beautiful blush that turned her already stunning features nearly ethereal. At some point, much later, he’d remember this part of their conversation. He would make up for it and shower her in s’mores if that’s what she wanted. She deserved to experience the fun and silliness that came with making the tasty treat. But that was for future Luka to deal with. Right now, right here, food was the last thing on his mind.
Her mention of being a mother, however, stalled him out a bit. Was this right? Should he even be thinking about being with a woman that came with a child? He didn’t want to give her the wrong idea. Didn’t want her to think this was something that it wasn’t. At least, not yet anyway. Was that even something he wanted? He knew he wanted to be a father, eventually. But a step-father? That was a whole different ball game. Perhaps they should stop. Luka let the thought linger in his mind for all of twenty seconds. The color on her cheeks was pulling him back in, pushing all of the warnings and doubts from his head. No, he wouldn’t think about that. He would just focus on her and deal with the rest another time.
The tremble his touch caused in her nearly brought him to his knees. She might have brought new life into the world, but to him she felt far too innocent. Far too pure for the likes of him to be touching her. And yet, here he was, arms full of the most fascinating woman he’d met in a long time. She wasn’t backing down or telling him to go. She was….Holy hells, she was meeting him for the kiss. Her body shifted in his hold and before he could do more than take a breath, her lips were brushing his.
It was barely a whisper at first. The last thing Luka wanted to do was to push her past where she wanted to go. She held the reins here and he would step back at the first hint that she wasn’t enjoying herself. Her grip on his shirt told him that, for now, she was so he pulled her in closer. His grip on the nape of her neck stayed light, but the hand on her hip slid free to wind his arm around her waist. She fit rather perfectly against him, even though she was nearly a foot shorter than him. It was just one of those marvelous things that you weren’t supposed to look too closely at, which he was okay with as the taste of her tugged a soft groan from his chest.
After a few sweet minutes, Luka pushed his luck and lifted her up onto her toes. His tongue swept over her bottom lip in question, wanting more. If she turned him down, he would just leave things as they were. She was under no obligation. If she didn’t, well, he’d take. And take. And take until she was dizzy from the kiss. Until she was dizzy from him. Location: His little campsite Company: Charlene Thoughts: 'I cannot just take her on the grass like an animal…She’s upper class, you fool!’

Charlene had spent years being told she had ruined herself, ruined her chances of finding actual attraction in the world since she had her daughter. Nobody would want someone who had a child out of wedlock and didn't know who the father was. Nobody would want broken goods. Sure, her parents never put it that blatantly, but other people were not so kind. Even if it was never said to her face, the murmuring and rumors that spread as soon as her situation became obvious to those around her the whole mood shifted. She didn't mind less suitors, but they all treated her like she was missing something then, as if being a virgin meant much of anything in the world they were in. However, it appeared that to a lot of people, it did.
In this moment though, she had a split second of thought where she thought that they were wrong. Sure, she hadn't told Luka her whole story, but he was so quick to accept her despite the fact she had a child. He still even believed her to be beautiful. Not that she didn't acknowledge the efforts she put into her appearance on the daily, but it was nice to hear it from someone else who seemed to mean it. He almost seemed surprised that she had leaned in to meet his lips and as he moved his arm around her waist, she felt herself melt a little bit more into him. There was something about him that drew her in. She wasn't sure if it was the soft smell of the pine trees he likely had been hanging around in or the almost salty taste of his lips that reminded her of the ocean.
The soft groan that escaped him made her stomach flip slightly, was that because of her? As if to answer her unspoken question she felt him pull her in closer, having to shift up to her toes as she moved her hand from his chest to around him, her hands settled against his back. The feeling of his tongue brushing her lip made her blush, as if what they were doing wasn't already enough to make her ears red. As she inhaled through her nose, she was able to smell that she knew she'd never be able to think of the same way again. Woodsy but warm, and it made her feel safe in the moment as well. She allowed a soft, content sound pass by her lips as she parted hers slightly. She knew she could feel her heart pounding in her chest, and surely, he could as well. She wanted more from him, more of him, if he was willing to give it to her.

For a woman so petite, she fit him so damn perfectly that he had to keep a tight hold on his control. She deserved sweetness. Soft kisses and endearing touches. Not to be pawed at like some beast in heat. No, he could do this. He could give her something better. Something that would…The thought ended at the soft sound she made. Everything in him went hard and he felt his grip slip.
The invitation to take it a step further had him leaping at the chance, his tongue slipping past her lips to take a quick taste. Gods, she was exactly what he had imagined. Honey and cream. Sweet as silk and far too pure for him to be this close to. He was a commoner. A peasant, in most of the circles she ran in. Title or not, he’d grown up on the streets and spent more than a few nights in pubs and places she would never dare to step foot in. He was tainted and dirty and…there was no way in hell he was letting her go. She was giving him something special, and he’d be a damned fool to let it go.
With his mouth occupying hers, he shifted a bit and pulled her up into his arms. Her dress made it difficult for him to maneuver at first, but he managed to get her back to where she’d been before. Luka changed the angle of the kiss the moment she was comfortable, going deeper until there was nothing but the feel and taste of her. If he kept this up, he knew he wasn’t going to be able to keep his word about taking his time. So, he turned away from the campfire and headed for his tent. As much as he would have loved to explore her out in the open, to see the stars in her eyes as he did all the lovely things he had planned, he didn’t want to scare her.
Luka did, however, stop at the opening to his tent and pull back from the kiss. His heart was racing in time with her own, a sensation that had a bit of masculine pride puffing up his chest. He was getting to her just as badly as she was him. The sight of her flushed features only added to the feeling and had him smiling at her, his teeth gently nipping at her bottom lip. She looked irresistible. And he wanted nothing more than to devour her in greedy bites. Barely hanging on, he moved his lips along her jaw to nibble at the soft skin below her ear.
”Charlene, you are killing me…” His husky voice rumbled in his chest as he nuzzled at her skin, shifting her in his hold to get to more of her velvet skin. ”Are you still okay with this? With being with me? I need the words, honey. Just one word and I’ll be your willing slave. That is, only if you want me…” Did he think she would turn him down? Oh, most definitely. Did he hope she wouldn’t? Again, definitely. But, he was not the kind of man to just take. She was in control, no matter what. If she said no, then he’d leave it to just kissing. If she said yes, well, he’d show her what it was like to be thoroughly loved. Location: His little campsite Company: Charlene Thoughts: 'So soft…so perfect…’

Charlene couldn't believe that she was in the arms of this man, someone she hadn't known before tonight but was so intoxicating that she couldn't help herself. He was careful with her, yet at the same time there was a primal desire hiding beneath it that just made her feel wanted in a way she hadn't felt in years.
As she shifted in his arms, she had offered more to him and when he took it, she felt a shiver run down her spine. She leaned into him as she let him take the lead. She honestly had no idea what to do when it came to being this intimate with another person, despite the fact that she had a child. The evening that that came about was foggy and this felt like the first time she's been held so close like she was something precious. It didn't even cross her mind that even if he came from a different status, that it would make a difference. Ever since Bree she had changed the way she looked at things, where one came from didn't determine what kind of person you were. And he tasted just as good, her cheeks flushed as the thought crossed her mind. She couldn't put her finger on what he tasted like, but she didn't think it as important. When he shifted his arms, picking her up again she squeezed her eyes shut tighter briefly as he secured his grip on her. If she didn't feel like a princess then, well, now she definitely did. Her arm closest to him ended up around his neck as she slid her other hand up and rested it on his neck. She could feel his pulse racing under her hand, and she couldn't believe that she caused that sort of reaction in someone.
She could feel him move but she didn't open her eyes, she was far too invested in the moment and how warm his lips felt against her own. When she felt him stop and break the kiss, she took a breath in, and he was so close to her that she could smell him again. She slowly opened her eyes, a quiet gasp passing her lips as his teeth grazed her bottom lip. His voice gave her butterflies, and she found herself leaning her head slightly as she felt his lips brushing her skin. Her hand that was against his neck slid down and found the top of his shirt, fingers closing around the fabric as she let out a shaky breath. He was getting to her in ways that she hadn't thought would happen, especially not tonight.
She took a moment to answer his question, to try and keep her breath from coming out too fast but her reply was still soft and low compared to her usual voice. " Of course I am..." she opened her eyes more and slid her hand that was around his neck up the back of his head, fingers sliding through his hair. " I want everything you're willing to offer." this time she did whisper, and her head leaned back slightly, exposing more of her neck to him before she lifted her head back up and brushed her thumb against his lips, looking at them before up to his eyes. There was no doubt about how he felt in this moment, and there wasn't for her either. She smiled softly at him, gently pulling his head down a little towards hers. She brushed her lips against his again as she spoke once more before closing the gap between them again. " I do want you..."
