Boys...
How would you consider a boy who lies to make himself seem cool, like a boy who lies about drinking and partying to seem cool to his friends? Can he get better?

Someone who lies to appear cool has self-esteem issues. If the guy can find a way to realise that he doesn't have to lie to be cool, but rather just be himself, then he'll stop lying.

What Tailos said... also it's pathetic. It doesn't just relate to guys though. It relates to girls equally. If you have to lie to make yourself look cool, then you need to get out more.

Agreed. I have major issues with people who set a face to give the impression of something or other, while really thinking something else. When people find out, and it's likely they will, it will leave you more screwed than it would if you were always the "loser".

I think that he's afraid, personally.
He is afraid of not being liked, and even moreso, more afraid of not being liked by the "right people" that he wants to be like.
The most important thing here is to let him embarrass LEARN the hard way.
Just don't let him use you as a tool to gain some level of "coolness" (which usually involves him making fun of you or humiliating you to make his "friends" accept him.)
What can I say? He's not worthy of you.

Reminds me of my ex best friend lying about her virginity status. Then she randomly ******** this guy at a party claiming to be somewhat experienced (only two boyfriends had the sexing from her) and she later then comes pissing her eyes out about the awful way she lost her virginity? confused I'm sorry, I despise lying.

Just go beside him and whip out something like "Oh yeah, that party was awesome, I was there too...but the fun didn't stop there; we then went to that open house in and hung out with a bunch of strangers just for kicks too afterwards!" Of course, when his friends are there and he needs to have finished storytelling about his parties in that moment.
