That's interesting,,, unless Erza didn't have the S Class yet? She was the youngest of that rank... but if she mentionned her, it was def a continuity error, Gildarts is not often w the guild tho but I remember he was mentionned early as one of the most powerful mages from there.
Nah, Erza was confirmed, Gildarts was the only one not mentioned. Even when they show pictures of the past (first time you get to see Lisanna in theory) he's also not there. No mention of him in the anime until he appears.
I looked into this a little further. In the manga (i've not read it because I cannot afford than many volumes ) he is mentioned throughout (even when Fairy Tail battle each other because of Laxus) but in the anime there is a FAN THEORY(s) that they intentionally did not mention him because either:
a) they did not think the anime would last that long - if true I'd be curious to what they were planning on telling up to or what was meant to be the "story"
b) in the manga he was hinted to been gone (most likely the 100 year quest he was on) theory on this part so it was likely when the anime started, the manga still ahd not have Gildarts return so they didn't wanna mention a character they still knew so little about - this one can probably be checked with a little sleuthing but Im not that kinda person and I dont care, I prefer wild speculation razz
