Just found out the gender at our reveal Saturday. We were so certain we were going to have a boy, but NOPE! We're having a baby girl, and we're planning to name her Brynlee Anne. smile

We definitely liked it!
The only criticism we got was from my mom. As soon as we revealed it everyone was quiet and my mom just kinda laughed and blurts out "is THAT even a name?" Yes. It is. My mom suggested Sonya which honestly everyone hated. Then we were going to stick with Ann, one of my middle names being Ann, my mom's being Ann, but my husband's mother's middle name is Annette so we thought Anne with the e was a nice little medium. My mom goes "oh NOW it's Annie because it had the e. No, still pronounced like Ann. So we argued on that for a while.

It seems that parents or even in-laws can be nasty about names that they don't like. After a while, though, it seems like the name kind of grows on them and they're used to it.

When we were thinking of names, I remember sharing ideas before, "If it's a girl/boy we want one of these names _____." Some people just make the weirdest of faces >_< even though it's like a totally legit name.

Everyone seems to have a reason they picked a name for their little one, most names hold a special significance 3nodding

I mean, literally everyone has liked the name Brynlee. No one has heard of it, it's easy to say and spell, it's different. My old coworkers keep going on about it because they love it so much. The only issue has been my mom, but I just can't wrap my head around Sonya. I mean, sure it might be the perfect name for another couple, and I'd love it for a name if it were fitting to that couple, but it's just not fitting to us. I think Brynlee is pretty spot on just for our personalities, and it seems to fit her already.

Of course, it's totally understandable. I get it that some people have aversions to certain names for whatever reason or they like the name, but can't see it for their own child.

I remember thinking of so many baby names and I was like annoyed when my husband didn't like 95% of them, but at the same time - I wouldn't want him to not even like his own kid's name! It's always good when you both agree on a name and at that point - definitely stick with it.

There's nothing wrong with the name you chose biggrin I'm sure your mom will get used to it in time and it'll become second nature.

I remember meeting this seemingly sweet old lady and she was so excited she was going to have a granddaughter due soon. She said she hated the name her daughter loved, which was, "Hannah." She said she didn't like it at all, but was still excited about the baby and becoming a grandma. I would assume she got over the name xd

A bit random, but that reminds me of the other day, I was at the grocery store the other day, and the cashier asked me what my daughters name was. When I told her, she kept saying strange other names, as if she didn't hear or understand me, so I politely corrected her, "Lydia".

This woman was so dumbfounded, had sworn she never heard of the name before. LOL "wow that's one of a kind" she said....lolwhat. No it's no, lady.
People are strange.

Everyone's been forgetting the name lately and they think it's Amelia. No. No.... no. Brynlee is far from Amelia. Or they think it's Bryn then Leeanne is the middle name. No.

I love the name Lydia! Heard it but I definitely don't hear it as often, so I think you hit the nail on that one.

LOL where did they get Amelia from Brynlee? That's a pretty name too though. That's weird, and that's your family that's forgetting? Maybe they're low-key trying to suggest middle names haha.

Thanks! I've always loved that name, it sounds so beautiful.

Ah, they shouldn't have an issue with the middle name though. Anne comes as a cross between all the women's middle names. I have Ann, my mom has Ann, and my mother in law is Annette. Annette just sounded really weird with Brynlee though.

Lydia is gorgeous, I honestly hadn't thought of it for us but it always was a great name. It's been around for a while, not hard to say or spell but also not heard often. It also went with our little thing of having a y in the name. 🤣

That's a very classic name, yeah they shouldn't have any reasons against it. not that it's even up to them, haha. i hate how possessive others' get with people's babies names. Brynlee Ann sounds so pretty.

yeah i love the Y too!

My mom had been possessive over everything. Lol
Like yeah she's going to be a little gamer like us "NOOOOOOOoooooOooo!!! She will go outside and she will swim!"
No mother, she is not your kid and she will have time outside but we like gaming too. She's going to do what she wants to do.
I don't even like swimming, but we do kayak.

There's just something about it being in a name, but not at the end.

That reminds me of my father, trying to push his interests into my daughter, like dude, come on, let her have her own personality. you had your chance, now let me do what i'm doing. he has serious control issues, and i can tell he's already pushing them on my daughter. so irritating.

oooh yeah i know what you mean!
