With a misty morning, the forest that separates Beacon from Vale acquired a more mystical aspect to itself than usual, with a perfectly placed fog enveloping the ground up to 5 meters tall. Not dense enough as to deprive your line of sight within 30 meters around, but just enough to make you believe you entered some sort of magical forest of sorts. The fog itself was fresh which gave away the perfect excuse to jog your way to beacon at full throttle, dashing through the fog to have it become breeze because of the acceleration.
While not an official huntress, Sereibel was used to take on quest from villagers to set traps or establish safe perimeters given her own village often had to deal with Grimm every now and then, as such, when she heard in town of a group of merchants which stocked beacon with supplies complain about a Grimm scaring their workers away, the redhead knew she had to do something about it.
That same morning, after picking her supplies up for the day, She gave herself the task to establish a safe route for the merchants, by scouting the premises and see the tracks of the so far elusive Grim. It was good… in a way. Keeping herself calm also diminished her chances to jump into the beast, let alone attract It towards her.
It didn´t took long before she established the route, now all she had to do was help the place be more secure for the merchants, by adding some traps which they could trigger in order to defend themselves while traveling. Ropes they could pull to have wooden cups bump onto each other to distract the Grimm with the noise as well as to alert other travelers of its presence. And a bunch of snare traps she set up around the perimeter of the path she had designed as well. She lacked the materials and the time to make the traps lethal so, snare and warnings should suffice for now. Given the time she had to put everything ready for this morning it was actually a miracle she was able to pull these out just in time and a single morning none the less. The snare traps should disorient most of the common Grim in this area, assuming they don´t weight beyond 350g the snare traps should be able to pull them upside down for at least a height of 5 meters from arms reach towards the floor. With the hopes of disorienting the Grimm so that merchants could make a run either towards Beacon and call for help or retreat and let the army deal with the Grimm instead.
Feeling a little tired, she decided to retreat for now and get some rest before coming back to try and add the lethal components this afternoon. Preferably before it gets too dark, the fog was harmless for the most part during the day but during the night, she would prefer not having to imagine to share a nigh in the forest with a bloodthirsty Grimm wandering around. Leaving the coast clear for a few hours to get herself some rest.

Maokai being Maokai woke up quite early in the morning for his normal jog around Beacon, he sprung out of bed and very quickly began running out of the dorms, almost slipping in one of the tight turns but he didn’t care, he was ever Hyper and even if he smacked his face on the wall he would shrug it off and continue, with a painful expression and a bruise but he would continue! Getting to the entrance to the forest Maokai grinned brightly as he entered, the fog was making the place quite pretty in his eyes and he did not want to waste a second in such a beautiful place! He could even spend his whole day here, is what he was thinking before suddenly feeling his legs being pulled upwards “WOAAAA!” the young shark would yell as his hands were flailing around “oiii! Someone there?! I think you left this on the floor!” he yelled and pouted to himself, how did he get himself stuck like this? He didn’t mean that he could stay here forever! It was a joke!! Sereibel had went back to pick up the stakes and lethals for her traps, while they would severiously injure a human or a faunus, they would at least keep a Grimm occupied which could give people a chance to run away from them. Of course, she would leave signs to warn people from the existence of the traps.
As she carried her stakes, she heard the trap triggering, pulling out her blunderspear instinctively while setting the stakes down. Dashing as silently as she could she approached the trap only to realize the figure hanging from it was no Grimm.
"Huh?"
That being the first thought that crossed her mind, going all the way as to be freely expressed by her lips in disbelief as she observed an upside down Faunus. Just... how did he got there? Sure, she had yet to place the signs and warnings, but honestly, who jogged in such dangerous woods, and carelessly while at it?
There was a first time for anything and in Sereibel´s it was about her first time to run into such individual.
"Just...how did you got up there?"
She couldn´t actually blame him, she didn´t placed the warning signs so it was a missplay from her, which was why she also added the lethals for last, to prevent any misfortunate accidents from happening.
"Do you... have a name?"
It was all she could come up to at the moment, her mind trying to figure how to safely put him down from her trap. Since they were intended to capture Grimm she wasnt exactly caring much about the safety of the trap. But now, it was time she faced her mistake, with her first victim of the day being an Innocent faunus.
"You should be more careful about your surroundings."
She replied, then again, Mao probably wouldnt be hanging upside down if someone didn´t set a trap to begin with, but she wouldn´s exactly bring that up, not now at least, instead she would take mental note from her mistakes while trying to find the safest way to rescue Mao.

After a while, Maokai could see a figure coming towards him as he would smile brightly while his face slowly turned red from being upside down “oh hello! I err… I think I am stuck here hehe” he chuckled in embarrassment “well I was jogging around this area and was yanked by this rope someone left, and that’s the story of how I got up here! though I’m not sure how to get down” he replied as he asked if he had a name “huh? of course I have a name! I am Enmadou Maokai, it’s a pleasure to meet you though… I bet it would have been nicer seeing you face to face instead of… this” he gave her a big toothy grin as he was scolded for not being careful enough which made him chuckle, oh the amount of time he was told that are just too great! He knows he is too “do you by any chance have a knife on you? could you throw it to me? don’t worry! I will catch it!” he said as he gave her a thumbs-up, did he catch it for sure? The girl seemed to be quite friendly! Though he did feel a bit bad for ruining such a nice trap, it could be very useful against Grimm but… it also shows that humans can get stuck in it too “oh so your new? Well, it’s nice to meet a fellow student haha! While I do get the reason behind the traps you should remember that this is a school filled up with capable people, there is nothing to worry about this forest I jog here all the time!” the boy chuckled as his face became a bit redder after all the blood is rushing down his face with the way he is hanging. He would grab the knife with a smile on his face and raised his upper body towards the rope that got trapped on his legs “don’t worry about it! I’ll be fine~” he said as he began cutting away the rope “see? Nothing to w-“ he said as he suddenly fell on his back, his crimson red aura flashed a bit as it absorbed the damage but nothing serious “ow ow ow… maybe I should have prepared a little… a-anyways thank you so much for letting me down!” he said as he jumped back on his feet and raised his hand towards her “you seem like a fun person, let’s be friends! I would gladly show you around campus once we are back” he smiled brightly, revealing his many rows of sharp teeth inside his mouth, he was not human that’s for sure. Maokai’s smile was yet to settle as Sereibel accepted his offer to let him show her around and with a little wink, he would rest his hands at last “there’s nothing to worry about, I am pretty sure most students here didn’t come from a place like this, I am originally from a village next to Vale and trust me it was a shock the first time I got here” he chuckled as he began walking casually “hey, don’t worry about it! just shows you how much I need to improve myself, though most people who go around these woods are huntsmen or huntsmen in training so they don’t worry much about the Grimm. Heck! Some even look forward to them!” he laughed a little, it wasn’t very rare to encounter a Beowulf around here yet he never encountered one even if he wanted to fight one on his own! He continued to walk towards nowhere in particular, not knowing he is getting close to another of her traps. Post count: 54 Out Of Chomps: Maokai has sprung into action!
