Pєts
- Some members may wish to have animal companions join their characters on their adventure. However, this could provide characters with an unfair advantage, with additional unknown utilities and attacks not on a character's profile. In order to strike a balance between fun and fairness while letting members know what is allowed when it comes to pets, we have added a new pet profile skeleton for approval in the NPC profile forum and created the below rules.
℞ules
- 1. You may have a pet/companion for flavour text without spending any posts. However, these pets cannot have any utility or participate in combat.
2. If you wish to have a combat or utility pet, you must "buy" the pet with 50 posts. These posts can be unallocated post you've gain via modding or ooc, or you can buy the pet out of your character's posts, and reduce their post count by 50.
3. Post the filled-out profile skeleton for review in the NPC profile form. The pet must be approved before it can be used in combat, or perform any of its utilities.
4. You must allocate a minimum 50 of the character's posts to the pet, but you can allocate more if you want the pet/companion to be stronger. Example: A pet that was given 100 posts could be able to solo an Ursa while the RPC fights other things. A pet with 50 would need help fighting the Ursa, and could potentially be killed by the Ursa if it does not receive aid. (See rule 8 ) ----Please note: Any companion/pet with more than 50 starting posts needs crew approval.----
5. If pet/companion dies you will lose the allocated posts for the rest of that thread, however, the character will regain the lost allocated posts once the thread is over.
Example: A person has 250 posts. They spend 50 posts from the characters permanently to buy the pet (dropping them to 200 posts). They then allocate 100 posts to their pet when fighting together. This means, individually if both are fighting, they have 100 pc (in terms of how many grimm they can kill/ contribute to). If they go for the same target, it is the full 200 posts being applied. The person, however, is still level 2 for purposes of semblance when they fight. If the pet dies in the fight, the person is set to level 1 for that thread (semblance-wise; once out of thread they are back to 200).
6. Your pet/companion cannot be anything of mythical creation (no Pegasi, dragons, phoenix, etc.).
7. Pets/Companions do have aura (as all living creatures, other than Grimm, do) but, theirs is weaker than a person's due to their inability to channel and use it as we do. Depending on how many posts are allocated to them, determines how effective they are at avoiding/fighting Grimm.
8. Pets/Companions will not be a one-shot kill even if the Grimm the pet is fighting has a higher post count unless attacked by an Ultimate Grimm or higher. It should also be noted that if their master can't save them in a certain amount of time, the pet may die due to their low aura. Said time would be determined by Mod, based on post spread and actions taken.
9. Pets/companions do not have semblances.
10. Pets/Companions only have their natural weapons to use. If you want a pet/companion to have something they normally wouldn't, like armor or more advanced weaponry or even better defensive aura, it would require a Special Item to be used for that from the "owner" of the pet/companion (like in Advance Profile).
11. You must have prior mention of your pet's existence in the topic if you wish for them to join a fight. If pet/companion is stated as being home or not in thread/fight at the start, you cannot have pet join in the thread later. Then your RPC is considered to be at their Full PC (what you allocated to your pet/companion will return to your character for the time of that thread)
12. While a regular RPC has a standardized strength, animals have a lot more variance. Their strengths, speed, natural weapons, etc will be the same as the actual animal (if it is on the profile). So naturally, the bite of a crocodile will be way stronger than that of a dog, and the strength of a tiger may be greater than an rpc (when spent for). You still have to spend (in abilities) for the pet though to be able to be as good as they are in nature; your pets appearance and physical condition will be reflected by what you give them.
Example 1: You got a tiger, but you didn't give it speed. While normally tigers are way faster than people, this one is fat and lazy which makes it slow.
Example 2: You get an aligator pet, but do not give it strength. When it tries to do its death roll, or bite, it is much weaker and less effective than normal since you got a small/ weak gator.
