Serious Acts confident Naive Dislikes conflict Submissive Easily discouraged Fearful History: Whether something happened to his family or he was just abandoned, Eric isn't sure. All he knows is that his earliest memories are of scrounging for food and hiding in alleys, his home amounting to whatever vacant building he could slip into for the night. He wasn't the only one, he'd encountered a handful of other kids that were living in the streets for one reason or other, and ultimately they ended up teaming up to get what they needed to survive. At first it was just minor thefts, shoplifting stuff like food or clothes, but at one point they got their hands on some pokeballs and started catching some of the pokemon that shared the alleyways with them. As the years progressed the group got more bold, moving from stealing to survive and minor mischief to shakedowns and robberies. It had been fine for a while, but eventually Eric got tired of how things had gotten and wanted out. His old 'friends' didn't care much for the change of heart, though, so what was intended as a simple "goodbye and good luck" ended with the injured trainer having to slip out of Black City with what he could manage to keep from being taken when his former gang turned on him.
The two ended up meeting on a ship to Kalos. After the fallout with his old crew, Eric decided there wasn't much left for him in Unova and, after making his way to Castelia, slipped aboard the first ship he could find that was leaving the region. From there it had been back to his old ways, nicking food and drink while staying out of sight of crew and finding some hidden corner to fall asleep in. His injuries made it more difficult than normal though, so even though he was careful he was eventually spotted by one of the passengers as he made his way to one of his hiding places. That passenger happened to be Rosalin, who followed and confronted the trainer. Rather than threaten to report him though, she decided she liked the look of him and made the man an offer that he travel with her. She'd get herself a guard that was a lot less blatant than the ones her father usually had accompany her while he'd definitely have a more comfortable lifestyle than what he had now. Since his only alternatives were to decline her offer or use force to get away and try to find another place to hid, Eric decided it was in his best interests to go along with the woman's strange request for now. Besides, it wasn't like he'd had any better plans for what he'd do when he arrived at Kalos.
