tab Fell Fire once more found himself just outside Terran Sundew’s den, despite not entirely knowing the reason he was there. To check on her wellbeing? Possibly. He was sure nearly every member of the Court must have come to her by now, though. She'd no doubt heard every possible phrasing of gratitude capable, every plea for closure or comforting words backed by the power of her sight. Surely it had to be chipping away at her composure. Then again, he knew relatively little of the Terran herself. Best he not make a fool of himself with assumptions.
tab He shifted, the change in weight distribution causing his paws to sink in the earth beneath them. His gaze flickered down, taking note of how easily the ground melded between his toes. Fresh ground, land that had not tasted the blood of his pack, his family. A new home, a safe haven they'd come to wholly thanks to Terran Sundew. Maybe he had come to offer his own gratitude, at least this time. Considering all the pack had been through since having to abandon their home, he figured she at least deserved that much.
tab But how did he word it? Most times, Fell knew he sounded like a jerk, a barbarian, a heathen. Words were not his strong suit, no matter how much his family tried to change that in that past. Even now, faced with the chance to say his own thanks to the she-wolf responsible for giving their pack a new life, words failed him. Something as simple as “thank you” seemed disrespectful, at the least.
tab With a low growl at himself, his ears pinned back on his head. This was stupid. He should be elsewhere, anywhere but here, conversing with himself over his inability to string together a decent sentence. So he turned away, once again kicking himself for ever coming here in the first place.

If nothing else, recent times had made Sundew well-versed when it came to meditation, whether it was in the safety of this new den or in broad daylight. If she hadn't used it to combat her constant anxiety, the Terran wasn't sure what she would have done; gone mad, maybe. Gone embarrassing, definitely, which was infinitely worse in the Court. Nowadays as the Elves began the frantic, joyous, sometimes chaotic process of assessing their new home, she could find more moments to herself, and she was grateful for it. Neither could she ignore someone asking for her, though--or in this case, waiting at the front door.
Almost at the same time Fell Fire turned away, she opened her eyes and stood up. "Marshal," she called softly, offering a smile as she padded forward. "You must have thought me asleep, hadn't you. I appreciate the courtesy, but I am always ready to see an Elf."
Fell Fire...Sundew remembered him lingering before, here and there. He always seemed frustrated by something even before their flight, and she was curious if not also too polite to directly ask. Were the soldiers better managed now between him and Shivering Aspen, or had something come up?

tab With the constant churning of his mind in this particular moment, Fell Fire almost missed the soft call from behind him. A part of him honestly wished he had, but he knew the Terran would have likely followed, if only driven by curiosity.
tab He turned again, bowing his head out of respect while he returned her greeting. "My apologies for interrupting you, then." Despite his previous inner monologue, he hadn't come up with another word. Not a single thing he could say that wouldn't make him seem... Well, he didn't quite know how any of it would make him seem. He just knew that his normal way of speaking wouldn't cut it while attempting to hold a conversation with the Terran.
tab In a very obvious attempt to gather his thoughts once more, he glanced around them as if surveying their surroundings would offer him some sort of epiphany. "Would you... would you like to go for a walk, Terran Sundew?" It may not have been his best, considering he had to pause and mull over his wording for a moment, but still he felt proud of himself for not stumbling over his own words in that simple question. Besides... a walk would help cover his sporadic silences and offer some peace of mind, seeing as how he was used to always moving about the pack anyhow.

The small knot of concern already forming in her chest at assumptions began to relax, and she let her tail wag slightly at the offer. "I would love to, Marshall Fell Fire," Sundew said. "A perimeter check?" He seemed more comfortable when it came to his job than anything casual, and she tried to lean into that. "I'd be happy to hear your thoughts about our new home and how the others have been adjusting."
