tab Somehow, despite frowning at Big Bad when this whole ordeal was announced and doing everything but flat out telling him 'no', Black Bone found himself standing in the sparring area. He was pretty sure he'd been coerced into this as he would have simply been content to watch. He narrowed his eyes, his displeasure written across his face in a frown once again. Honestly, he fixed wounds, he didn't make them. This was going to end badly, he was sure of it.
tab The beginning of his sparring session signaled and he immediately snapped his head back towards his opponent. They looked bigger than him, heavier. Their paws moved across the ground with heavy thumps as they circled one another, both gauging and searching for weaknesses in the other.
tab Black Bone knew he was at a disadvantage, the obvious physical differences aside. His constant exposure to illness limited his choices in battle in the past. There had been two options; run away or hide. Neither of those options were in play here. Despite his quick wits, he doubted he'd be able to do so much as hold his own with the lack of experience.
tab His opponent rushed him like a bull, most likely intending to barrel him over and be done with it. He barely had time to dodge his way to left, spinning around to keep his eyes on the other wolf. They seemed to be favouring one side, and out of instinct, he quickly scanned their body for evidence of old wounds. There, just behind their right shoulder, he saw the remnants of a scar. Lowering his body slightly, he prepared to leap at the other's side, determined to at least get one good swipe in that would allow him a chance.
tab The other wolf had the same idea, apparently. They leapt, crashing against one another in midair. Black Bone's rump hit the ground before the rest of him did. His opponent pressed their weight against his chest, pinning him down with their stockier frame. He struggled in vain for a moment before he growled out a salty, "Ya win, get offa me!"
tab When he was released, he sat up and shook the dirt from his coat. He grumbled under his breath about nothing in particular and everything all the same time. He honestly wasn't very upset with the whole situation, more embarrassed over being put on his hind end in front of so many new wolves. How was he ever going to live this down, now?
