Posting Frequency and Activity

1. Players must post at least once a week per character to remain as an active member of the roster.

XXXXXXXXXβ–Ίβ–Ίβ–Ί If you are not going to be a frequent poster, do not leave your character in a situation where others are relying on you to post. Do not expect people to wait for a week and a half for a return post.

2. If you know you are going to be gone for a long period of time, post in the Absent Thread. This thread is located in the main forum.

XXXXXXXXXβ–Ίβ–Ίβ–ΊThis is utilized not to punish anyone, but as a way for players and moderators to let one another know that they need not wait on them for a post. If you're going to be in the Bahamas for two weeks, it's unfair to expect the RP to wait on you that long.

XXXXXXXXXβ–Ίβ–Ίβ–ΊIt is also unfair for powers to be 'taken' by someone who isn't writing for the character-- And therefore not using them.

3. If you do not post in the absent forum and disappear for more than two weeks without posting, your character will be moved to the "Inactive" section of our roster. If another week passes (with no word to the moderators), your character's powers will be removed off the roster and open for new applicants to take them. Upon your return, you may regain your powers, but know that there will may be a duplicate.

XXXXXXXXXβ–Ίβ–Ίβ–ΊAny player who informs the guild of their extended absence will retain their powers. If a player is gone for more than three months, depending on circumstances, their character's powers may be opened up to the public.

βœ–β–ͺ β–ͺ β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–¬β–ͺ β–ͺβœ–

Post Length & Other Posting Rules

1. All posts must be 2 paragraphs long. A paragraph consists of 4-5 sentences.

XXXXXXXXXβ–Ίβ–Ίβ–ΊIf a post is submitted in the IC that does not meet minimum, it will be sent back to the player for proper revisions. It will not go towards your post count until it is re-posted.

2. You can only post actions that have character changing results for your own characters in your posts. If you use other characters, you must do it in a way that is not detrimental or out of character for the other. It would be unrealistic to make every player wait for each other to answer a every little question or wait for something tiny motion for every piece of dialogue. If you have any questions, please message the other player about it.

XXXXXXXXXβ–Ίβ–Ίβ–ΊNever move another players character, or auto them without expressed permission from the owner of the character.

3. You cannot godmod your character or others. You cannot determine the outcome of an attack on another character UNLESS you have permission. No character is invicibile. You are not impervious to all other attacks.

4. All OOCs go in the OOC forum.

XXXXXXXXXβ–Ίβ–Ίβ–ΊSmall post related notations at the ends of posts are acceptable, but there should be no OOC discussion taking place in the IC.

5. IC Edits to Posts - Must be documented.

XXXXXXXXXβ–Ίβ–Ίβ–ΊSmall edits, such as correcting typo's or rewording an awkward sentence do not need to be made mention of...These are of course things that you are free and welcome to do. However, if you edit a post, that changes the actions of your character, or perhaps changes an interaction with another character-- You must make a small notation at the bottom of your post in italics. If you do not, it is very likely that your changes will go unnoticed by those who have already read the post. This would deny your character, and other players interaction, and may leave you feeling ignored.

6. No Player is to EVER edit the powers portion on their profile without moderator approval. We keep a hard copy of all profiles, we WILL know if you try to cheat. This will result in automatic probation, and potential guild removal-- Pending the offense.

1. You are only allowed to play one PC character per Gaia Avatar. If you want to play two characters, you have to play the second with a mule account. We keep this rule for organizational purposes, not to mention it avoids any confusion.

XXXXXXXXXβ–Ίβ–Ίβ–ΊAt this time, we are allowing for a maximum of three characters per writer. If you would like more, please let a moderator know.

2. Characters cannot be all powerful...They are not gods. Your character will have limitations... And if this is unacceptable, then you're looking towards the wrong RP setting. Make sure that when you apply, or even as a current player, you make sure that you aren't overreaching...If you aren't sure what may and may not be crossing the line-- Ask a mod. They're always glad to help you.

3. No non-mod character can have telepathic or reality warping powers... And even then, you will likely never, ever see them. The only reason a mod character may, would be to push a story-line...But we've never needed it in the six years Academy X has been on the Map. The reason they are forbidden, is because they are too easily abused, and too unfair. There are no exceptions to this, no amendments.

4. You can use NPCs; however, they should not become the major focus of your posts. Write for your original character...Not the one that already has a story to tell.

5. Cannon X-Men are not to be played as PC characters. We do not generally accept children of cannon characters either...We may make some exceptions, at moderator discretion, if the character is especially well written...But we very much so encourage original characters. If you're thinking of applying with a character that is related to a cannon in some way...Be sure to make a backup original. Because there's a 95% chance you'll need it.

6. Make your character realistically...Most human teenagers and twenty year old's are couch potatoes... Not saying that your character should be as such, but truly, take a step back and look at the individual you're playing. No character should be good at everything. Take your time during the creation process...You'll thank yourself later.

1. Players cannot alter or change a major storyline without moderator permission. Mods are in charge of the coordination and structural integrity of major arc's... Players are generally given directions for these stories, or offered parts to play, so that all characters have a turn in the spotlight.

2. If you have an idea for a major storyline, please send it to the mods. They would be happy to look it over, and see if they cant work it into a plot-- Or turn it into a plot on its own.

3. Character development stories that are not detrimental to the flow of the game are always welcomed...There is a difference between your character initiating a football game, and introducing a major villain like Mister Sinister or Magneto without expression permission. Just remember that we adore your input, and If you have some major ideas for your character, let the mods know. We love to be informed. (If your story idea isn't fit for the main story line, or if there isn't time for a particular event to take place as the story progresses...There is always the 'Side Thread' section of the guild that you are free to write in. If you're interested, talk to a mod.)

4. You cannot write life altering posts for other characters, without expressed permission. Such as killing another players character off. Only a player can decide these things for their characters. (That being said, if you do have permission from the other player--This rule is null en void.)

5. If you write your character into a corner or out of the flow of the story, the mods will not be responsible for getting your character back into the game. (Example: During a battle you decide to have your character teleported halfway across the realm, it is not the mods responsibility to find a way to include your character into the story at hand.)

6. While we do ask you to post once a week (or more) you must use good judgment and be mindful of those around you. While playing "hero" and over posting is not god modding it can be very annoying to other players who may not be on when you are, or able to type as fast as you. Remember to WAIT your turn...This does not mean to wait for eternity, but at least give others a chance to respond.

So just because someone posts, and leaves it open to someone to enter, it doesn't always have to be you. You can't be everywhere at once.

(Example:
Person A posts they are lonely in kitchen.
Person B enters the kitchen and starts conversation.
Person C is outside running from a wild dog.
Person B sees this and runs to the rescue.
Person A gets up and walks to their room and states they want to talk about something.
Person B runs up stairs seeing they need to talk.
Person C gets into more trouble
Person B saves person C & gets back to person A before they can blink....etc...)

If any of this is confusing, ask a mod. We are always happy to explain.

1. Personal issues are not to be brought into this guild, or into the game. No exceptions.

2. If there is a problem with any player, bring the issue to a moderator's attention. Do not address it in the OOC forum or yourself. This is a prime example of what the mods are there for.

3. Be respectful of other players and the mods. Abuse of the mods in any form will not be tolerated.

4. If you aren't sure about something, ask. We don't mind questions, honest.

5. This is a family environment. We do have members from a great age range. Please do not do something offensive just to be offensive. If you have a question about something that might be offensive, please ask a mod about it. We want everybody to feel comfortable in our environment.

6. Be mindful that we have a wide range of players. Try not to bring up sensitive subjects like moral, ethical or political beliefs. We're here to play a game, not debate. Gaia has forums for that.

5. The mods do not tolerate emo BS. If you want to whine about not having a boyfriend or your character doesn't have fifteen girlfriends, join another guild who has a bunch of other emo kids running around. We're all too mature to be dealing with that stuff. This guild is for writers who want to have intelligent conversations and RPing.

What happens if you break the rules?

You will receive warnings from the mods, and perhaps mediation if the issue is severe enough. We operate on a three strikes policy. Behavioral strikes, and those received for inactivity do not blend together. If you are under constant violation and have received several warnings from mods, you may be banned from the game.

If your violation is severe enough, you will be banned outright.

These are never steps we want to have to take, but all of the rules above, and located in this sub-forum are here for a reason. Some that seem inane, or strange, are here because they've been broken in the past-- And we've learned our lesson about leaving things open ended.

Are we too strict? Maybe. But Guild and Crew do what they must, as they see fit, so long as we do nothing to infringe on Gaia's TOS, to ensure the fairness and happiness to all members of the guild. This includes reserving the right to remove a player, if necessary. Again..These are NEVER actions we would take lightly. But the rules are here for a reason. Do your best to adhere to them, and there won't be any problems.

All we want to do is write. Write, and have fun. But once in awhile, a bad egg can ruin it for everyone.

The moral of the story? Don't be the bad egg.
