The park was a rather popular gathering place for Academy students of all ages. Those in their junior and senior years often came on romantic outings to Lacus Park, holding hands and blushing as if struck with one of Kallistos' arrows. Their giggling was equal parts infectious and sickening. Acacia didn't really understand the appeal of love. Perhaps it was because the hybrid was still too young to really appreciate it. Acacia, however, found themselves envious of the couples and triads for a different reason.
Tail swishing, Acacia sat at the edge of Lover's Lake, watching all the swan shaped paddle boats gliding across the water. Hugging their knees, Acacia sighed heavily as they listened to the steady splooshing of the paddles hitting the lake's surface. All the nightmares and daydreams looked so happy out there on the water. Acacia's nose crinkled as her tail thumped with a dull thud against the grass. While Acacia didn't want a partner, a friend to take a boat out on the water with would have been a nice way to spend the afternoon.
"One day. One day I'll get to ride in one of those boats. I guess today's just not my day."
With a small shrug of her shoulders, Acacia pressed her hands to the ground and pushed herself to her feet, using their tail to dust the dirt from her dark furry legs. There was no reason to sit around and sulk all day. After all, it was the last day before school started up for the season again, and Acacia wasn't about to waste it on moping about. She had already spent far too much time loitering about the park without any real purpose. Acacia would just have to make their own fun. Somehow. And now was as good a time as any to get started.
