Bio: From a very young age, Blaire has been a reserved and quiet girl. Her parents, an unfortunate pair of witches, didn’t know how to deal with her apparent inability to socialize or act like any young girl her age. Blaire was often up into the late hours of the night, mumbling to herself and drawing symbols and runes no one could interpret. Being that they were witches, her parents had to hide their magick from the general population of humans, living in secrecy in alleys or any apartment that would graciously take them in. This meant they had to move around excessively and do unfavorable things in order to earn enough money to live. In her first 7 or 8 years of life, Blaire never got the opportunity to establish a bond with her mother and father and tended to stay inside and isolated to avoid the humans that would ridicule her. She never appeared to be interested in friends or young, silly, girlish things. This concerned everyone around her, some going as far as to say that Blaire needed psychiatric attention, but most neighbors just sighed and figured it was because Blaire lacked parental love and care. As soon as she could read, Blaire began to homeschool herself, learning from any book that was lying around and doing small chores for neighbors to earn enough spare change to buy more of them. At age 11, her parents disappeared under mysterious circumstances, leaving Blaire practically orphaned. From rumors, Blaire could figure out that it was either a drug deal gone awry or a gang murder, but she never was able to get the closure she deserved. She eventually got a job at the bookstore she’d been a patron at for years and saved up to buy a new home: a small, cramped, eclectic cottage on the outskirts of town. Now, at age 17, Blaire owns the bookstore she used to be a clerk at due to the owner’s recent death and has managed to fly under the radar in terms of her mystical powers and deep secrets.
Personality: To an outsider, Blaire seems to be basically mute and inept socially and mentally. Her voice is meek, she doesn’t like eye contact, and she never seems to understand the norms that everyone so easily follows. Internally, though, she is an old soul with a soft heart lacking in malicious intent. The cause of her clumsiness with interaction is partly attributed to her childhood neglect, but most of it comes from a much darker place. Ever since she was born, Blaire was targeted by the “Outer Gods”, omnipotent entities that sought control over her and her mind. She was young and very easily molded by them, and thus only communicated with them and few others. This back-and-forth of telepathic and astral relations drove Blaire to madness, bottled up insanity. A human can only understand so much about their own existence until they lose it, after all. Blaire exhibits a skewed sense of humor as well, preferring darker and slightly more offensive jokes than others. Because of her upbringing, she has trouble connecting with others emotionally and cuts off her compassion when she meets new people. It is difficult to get on her good side, but once you do, she is a great listener and gives excellent advice. Blaire is very loyal to those who earn her trust but will remain suspicious and disreputable to strangers. Though her magick is very strong and can be easily used for wrongdoings, Blaire keeps a lid on the gods’ demands and influences and tries her best not to utilize her power to its full capacity. If asked about it, she’ll probably deny that she has any magick at all.
