"I noticed." It was dry, a little amused -- and he looked away, around the place, thinking about that. And about how they could fix it, some.

"Would a drink or two make it worse, or better?" He dragged attention back onto Melvin as he asked it, eyebrows raised. "I've got a couple bottle of vodka..."

"For ******** sake, Melvin, let's just handle the bill or whatever and get out of here." The words were rough but the tone was more amused than anything else -- Ever shook his head, looking down at his more-than-half-full plate, and then raised his attention back to Melvin.

"Assuming you're done?"

"Oh..ah..okay. right. Just a minute." He got up from his seat and left Ever there a moment. After a brief talk to the waiter who was fixing a drink for someone at the bar, he came back.

"Let's go." He said.

"...that's it?" He looked a little surprised, and a little confused, his eyes flicking over to the bartender as Ever stood. His plate still had quite a bit of pasta left, but he didn't argue. Let it go; chances were he wouldn't eat it later, either.

"What do I owe you?"

He stared back. "I keep a tab open here. All they do is charge it."

And then he leaned in to kiss him. A simple and quick affair. "Pay me back in that." He said.

"A transaction, huh?" Ever started to grin as he said it, reaching out to catch the front of Melvin's shirt and drag him in for another kiss -- one that wasn't quite so cute, that lingered and tasted of spaghetti enough to mostly cover up the cigarettes. And he held onto the hem of his shirt as he dragged Melvin away toward the door, back toward the dorms.
