He blew a breath out, the frown still on his lips -- and his hit, rough and off-center, didn't wipe it awai. HP: 13/40 DMG: 2

She flinched as her weapon started scolding her for wasting everyone's time. That she was being a disappointing opponent. Was that true? She didn't want that either, if it was. No wonder he still looked unhappy. She sighed and gave it another go, connecting her hit pretty hard against Vash's shield.

He wanted to take his time, to really aim up a shot -- but she just kept swinging at him. So again he just fired off a shot, and was lucky this time. It hit. HP: 8/40 DMG: 5

Jolene was left reeling from the shot, it was stronger than most of Vash's prior hits and she could feel her shield starting to trickle away and give way to actual pain. It was almost the end. She ran towards him again and swung, missing him entirely.

Their shields were starting to get a bit fragile now; Vash could feel himself woozy, eyes narrowing as he lined up another shot. HP: 8/40 DMG: 2

Jolene staggered forward, striking Vash out of sheer desperation. It had suddenly occurred to her she forgot to ask what happened to the loser and the pain of his last shot made her properly nervous now.
This was just a friendly battle right?
....Right?

Maybe not that friendly -- considering the fact that he could see her swaying, but with his eyes still narrowed, he aimed up a careful shot to really slam her in the middle of the chest for his last shot. And breathed out in slow satisfaction as it did, shooting a quick sideways look toward the peanut gallery. HP: 3/40 DMG: 8

Jolene's fear shield burst back and with it, her weapon fell from her grasp into silent nothingness. Possibly a judging silence, but she didn't care. She survived, despite the fact she'd considered for a brief moment that this had been it and that she died from a blast through her heart. Yes, she even checked to be sure, there was no mark. Where Hanta failed her, the fail safes took over and because of it she was perfectly fine. She gave Vash a bewildered look for all his calm demeanor. "You do this all the time?"

"Um." He blinked slowly back onto Jolene, still looking -- smug. Definitely smug, as if his own shield weren't hanging in tatters around him. He desummoned his own weapon, rolling his shoulders and shoving both hands into his pockets. "A couple times. And then actually had to fight stuff a couple times, that was way worse..." There was a pause, antsy, and then he forced himself to be good instead of dashing to show off: "You're okay?"

Jolene looked mildly surprised by the question. "I'm okay. It was my first time - sparring I mean. I was kinda worried I was actually going to die at the end there..." She laughed nervously. "Second fight like.... ever though. Fighting you was a lot nicer than fighting a water monster." In the end, once she calmed down from the adrenaline rush of it all, she smiled at him. "It was a good spar, I think."

"Yeah, it was solid." He hesitated over it, though, fidgeted a little -- and then waved at her, dismissive and finished, not quite willing to hang out and chat with the weird girl more than he absolutely required. Vash wasn't that kind of guy. So he ducked away, to escape from more awkward convo and meaningless pleasantries, before he got trapped.
