As it was the only victims of the young yodeler in training was just her father and his familiar. Glad that his daughter had found some way to ease her nerves, whether or not he would regret it in the morning should he lose some hearing, Kieran simply shrugged off the noise as he was confident there was no danger here. This place perhaps held a few insects and perhaps maybe some keldari towards the drier areas, but even they would have slithered far away with the disturbances that those vocals created. He did have some concerns though now that Xenia was powering through like a champion, "Careful!" He called out as he rushed forward, forgetting for a moment about how suddenly the cavern ceiling lowered, his head gaining a slight bump as a reminder.

Rubbing his forehead Kieran only faintly winced before catching up to Xenia. Once she found her spark she definitely bounced about, didn't she? At the girl's question Kieran took a moment before nodding, "Slightly but not exactly." He replied, "Our caves have more formations and crystals though there's a snow covered land to the far north that is rumored to have colder caves like ours....they're just hard to get into because of all the ice that freezes over them." He could only imagine towering pillars of ice that created gates naturally to keep out others or to block in whatever slept within the wilderness of Zena.

"Speaking of crystals Xenia..." Kieran paused, "Stop there." He called out before holding out his lantern, "We can start digging around here." The Yaeli dropped to a crouch and opened his satchel. A pair of gloves were nestled inside with little spades next to them, "There's some strange round rocks jutting out of the wall nearby, we can use these to loosen them and then we'll carry them out with us." He informed Xenia with a small smile, "Think you can handle that?"

"Papa! You shouldn't run like that, you'll get hurt."
The little one admonished, heedless of exactly why he'd taken off like that in the first place. "What if you broke your glasses? They're expensive, you know!" Or so she'd been told time after time after time....Sheesh, what was he thinking? If he busted those up then they'd be stuck in here!

She stopped in her tracks, one foot raised slightly as if in half step, and looked towards her father. When he started moving his own stuff around she took that as safe enough, and stepped closer, eager to see what he was doing. "Crystals?! We're digging for crystals?!" Chipper as a summer lark, the little yaeli took her up gloves and spade, the unease of early seemingly completely gone. She slipped her little fingers into the gloves, hunkered down on her knees and stabbed the spade straight into the ground.

'Careful' simply wasn't an option here.

Kieran grinned towards Xenia, "Yes, we're digging for crystals." He replied, his lips curving up towards that typical teasing smirk he would wear, "Though I don't think digging to the center of the world is the best way to go about it." He joked as his daughter stabbed her spade into the ground. For a moment he was content to just watch her try to figure things out before finally he took a spade in his own hand, leaving the lantern to sit in the center of the cavern room with its light faintly lighting the walls around them, "Xenia." He called out her name softly, his freed hand brushing across the top of her wild curls, "Come look at the wall here."

He waited, his gaze studying the wall and its series of strange lumps thoughtfully, while wondering what Xenia would think when she saw all the strange formations that seemed to be jutting from the walls. They were bigger than the corals yet not slick with moisture like the columns from earlier. Some looked like large eggs, others like weird pebbles, and many others that varied in sizes and even shapes.

"Hmm?" Intrigued, she turned, shuffling a bit so she could see what it was he wanted to show her. She didn't see anything wrong with the way she was going about it; if they were digging for crystals shouldn't they be going down? Not stabbing against the wall?

"Papa....what am I looking at?"
While the posed the words as an actual question her tone was beyond skeptical. They looked stupid; like the wall had facial bumps or something. "Is the cave gonna have babies?" She'd seen an egg before, and those looked close enough to count. Strange thing was they had eggs on the surface, so why did he have to bring her all the way down here just to get one?

"We're looking at the crystals." Replied Kieran before the next comment made him nearly drop his spades with surprise and laughter, "N-no." He managed after a long drawn out moment, "It's not giving birth, but these are formations. We can break a few off and take them with us." He reached out with his spade to show her, the tip gently scooting behind the rocky egg and with a few twists he managed to break it free from its fragile constraints. Holding it in his palm Kieran turned so that he could show it to Xenia, "Pick three, whichever ones you like the most, and those will be yours when we get to the surface." He could then pick a few for himself and then probably sell some at market since very few wished to venture down to the caves to gather the crystals themselves. Yet they made for good gifts and were pricey decorative pieces for those who wanted them.

His adventures didn't pay for themselves after all. That and it was fun to share this with his daughter. Even though he doubted that she would understand how these strange rocks were crystals at first. But that was something for her to find out soon enough.

"Y-y-yes." Xenia mocked. It wasn't nice or lady like, but she didn't care. "This isn't a crystal, it's a weird rock!" She motioned to it, as if he were blind or looking at the wrong thing.

Pick three, he said. Xenia grumbled and did as she was shown. Her technique was a little less refined than his, mostly because she didn't care to pay attention all that well, so her movements were jerky at best, but the stones were freed, just the same. Stupid rocks. She was told they were going to have an adventure, but this...this wasn't worth the boots at all.

"I got 'em," She groused. Her skirts were held infront of her like a bowl,
where she deposited all three of her stones.

It was admittedly hard to keep a straight face but he managed it. Kieran shrugged his shoulders before plucking a few into his own satchel, "Haven't we told you to never judge a book by its cover?" Replied her father playfully before he finished picking up his own rocks and placing them into his satchel.

"You can carry them in this bag..." He handed it to her, "And we can continue on now so that we can get outside and look over our rocks."

"You also said I had to smile and thank Auntie Trilanna for everything she cooks us, but that doesn't mean I want to." It was for that fact alone that her mother hosted most family means, but on those rare days that Trilanna got pushy they all suffered the consequences. Xenia didn't know how her Uncle Dennet was still alive. His stomach must have been made out of rock babies too.

Xenia shook her head, tossing her curls from side to side. She'd already punched her skirts up firm enough, holding the ends in both of her hands with a good, firm grip. Of course that exposed everything from the knees down, but at least the weight of the stones kept her decent. Grumbly as she was, the little yaeli waited until he was ready to go outside, and from then on walked in near silence.

If you didn't count the muttering under her breath, that is.

"...the slimey guy was cooler than this."

Kieran chuckled. Alright so she had him with that statement. The Yaeli just shook his head though, "Still it's something to keep in mind." He paused and lifted an amused brow at her mutterings before finally stopping, "Fine." Her father plopped on the ground, dust stirring from the sudden movement, and propped one of the rocks between his legs to support it.

"I wanted you to see it in the sunlight, but since there's some candlelight that'll suffice." He patted the ground next to him, "Come here." While he knew it looked confusing it was a few moments later that he had another tool in hand and with the rock propped between his legs he began to work. It only took a couple of hits before the rock pieces cracked in half and he found himself handing over the piece to Xenia, "Now look at your rocks." He instructed with a small smile, "What do you think now?" On the inside was a shimmering geode the amethyst and white crystals glittering in the candlelight.

Xenia scrunched up her little lips and reluctantly sat back down once again on the grimey cave floor. She didn't get what he was so excited to show her; some kind of weird moss or a bug? What, did it sprout legs in the sunlight or somethin'? The youngling kept her stones atop her skirts, though instead of holding them she had them spread out on the ground. To her they were nothing more than they appeared; weird rocks. Apparently her father had other ideas, though...

...and then he broke one.

"Why'd you break it? It was stupid, but you didn't have to-" She admonished, reaching out for half of the broken stone. Her tirade ended in surprised gasp, however, once she truly looked at what she was holding. Buried deep within the stone's core was an array of bright, brilliantly formed crystals as pretty as she'd ever seen. Xenia sat it on her lap so that she could broke the stone's insides, running her fingers over the smooth, translucent formations within.

"I think...that this was worth it, papa."
Her face was split into a bright smile. She felt a little bad about calling him so many bad things, but in all honesty, he could have just told her they were in the rocks. "It's so pretty; like the sky at night."

Xenia wasn't entirely sure how her sister's day with their mother was going, but she doubted Kitya would come home with a haul like this. So...maybe she would share with her big sister. If she was nice. Because honestly, Xenia was perfectly content keeping her hoard to herself now that she knew how special they were. It was a lesson that was sure to stick with her; the concept of reserving judgement until all venues had been explored.

But for now, none of that philosophical stuff mattered. All she knew was that her day out with her father had turned out pretty awesome, and she loved him all the more for it.
