Percy sighed softly as he pushed his way past the curtains of his bedroom and in to his living room. Things had been quieter since returning from the trip back home to the swirling sands. It was as if going home again reconfirmed for him why he left, recalling the ancient tunnels and the awful dark, dampness that lay waiting for him in the ruins. Luckily nobody had recognized them, though perhaps this had been because of his ridiculous disguise ( though he felt it was quite fabulous at the time, what with his floppy hat and large sunglasses ... ). Bismae had been rather pleased by the influx of all the familiars that seemed to gather at Percy's side during their trip. Even still, the trip had simply reconfirmed everything about the swirling sands that Percy hated.
He was glad to be home. Not only that, but Percy felt suddenly assured that he was on the right path. That his life was finally headed somewhere. Perhaps he would indulge in post-secondary studies. But what would he stuffy? Fashion? Fine Arts? Etiquette? Language? All seemed like viable options and things the neko would pursue.
As if the universe decided to play a prank on the poor cat, Percy’s fur began to stand up on edge as he sensed something unsavoury …

Kloff, kloff, kloff!
Jaxon pounded his fist against the dorm door. Bismae had asked him to join her for whatever reason she had this time, and the junior seemed far less than enthused about it. Jaxon's ears were flat against his head as he stared at the closed door, waiting for it to open. What was taking so long?
Instead of his strange, green girlfriend opening the door, Jaxon was met with the 'charming' face of her dormmate Percy. It was such a delight to watch the door swing wide open as Percy tried to put on his best face, only for it to all come crashing down moments later. Heh. It never got old.
“Sup. Bismae here?”
--
Percy had rushed across the room, adjusting his jabot along the way as he heard the knock on the door. He took a few moment to gather his breath and composure before opening the door wide, offering his best feline smile, excited for a surprise guest, only to see Jaxon on the other side.
Drat!
Percy's expression crumpled, heaving a heavy sigh through his nose as he tossed his braid over his shoulder. “No.” Percy said simply in response to Jaxon's question. “She is not. Can I help you?” Percy stood taller, his nose pointed upward slightly. Even though he had now know Jaxon for years, Percy severely disliked the hybrid still. Even though he had been around so many hybrids, and saw how cultures crossed bridges an mingled it didn't mean he had to like neko-naga hybrids. Of which he had met very few ... only Jaxon and his twin sister.

Jaxon sucked at a fang, slit pupils contracting as he pushed his way in to the room, easily shoving Percy aside with his strong tail as he glanced around the room, his usual mix of apathy and general disinterest sticking on his features. “I'll wait,” Jaxon said as he slithered over to one of the floor cushions close to the heat lamp, his long and fluffy tail coiling around himself to conserve heat.
“I want tea.” Jaxon said bluntly as he started to stare at the empty cast iron pot sitting in the middle of the table, as if doing so would light a fire beneath its iron belly.
--
Percy scowled, harder than he had ever scowled in his life as he fixed his rumpled shirt. A small 'humph!' could be heard from Percy as he marched over to the section of the living room where Jaxon now made himself more than comfortable.
“Jaxon, it is rude to invite yourself in! And even worse to demand from your host.” Percy was annoyed. Despite all his etiquette training and all his practice maintaining himself, Jaxon consistently broke down Percy's well-constructed walls simply by being. It frustrated Percy beyond a doubt.
Taking a small breath inward, Percy smoothed down his coat. “Now then ... would you like tea while you wait, Jaxon?”

Jaxon blinked, brows pinching together as his face twisted in confusion as Percy went on another one of his tangents. Jaxon half-listened, though it was the question about the tea that really left him wondering if Percy was even listening to Jaxon in the first place.
“I said I wanted tea. Why are you asking? Just make it.” Jaxon shook his head, thinking how dumb Percy had to be to not understand simply directions.
--
Percy's cheeks flushed in anger, his fur bristling. How on earth did Bismae love this abomination? Day after day, Jaxon came in to his home, unwelcome and unannounced, tossing around demands, wrecking teacups and leaving a mess behind. It drove Percy nuts, but at least Bismae had been there to distract Jaxon. Now, instead, Percy found himself alone with the c**k-sure hybrid, and it made his blood boil.
Think of Tayna and Marie, Percy.
Percy once again inhaled through his nose, this time far more deeply as he stepped forward to retrieve the cast iron pot from his spot on the table, then carried it off to pre-heat it with boiling water, no so much as offering a word to Jaxon.

Jaxon's eyes watched Percy, unblinkingly, as he snatched the pot off the table and disappeared behind a screen to the kitchenette. He could hear the running water, could almost hear the sound of Percy's grinding teeth as he muttered to himself. After all, Jaxon was part neko. His hearing was actually quite good. It was surprising that Percy didn't seem to share this trait.
“How'd the trip go?” Jaxon asked, not really caring but trying to break the nerve grating silence. “You guys went back home, yah? Swirling Sands? I could have gone but it's not home to me. Didn't see the point, really. Heard Bismae got new pets while she was there. She finds the easily, eh?”
--
Percy had to set the pot down on the sink, rather heavy now that it was filled with filled to the brim with liquid. The neko listened quietly, almost thoughtfully as Jaxon spoke. Was he ... actually trying to have a conversation? Percy's ears pulled back against his head as he hmm'd to himself, unsure what to make of Jaxon's sudden need to try and be amiable.
Instead of dwelling on it, Percy carefully carried the pot back to the table and back on to the warming stand. He wanted to keep it hot for as long as possible, letting the tea steep to perfect.
“We did.” Percy admitted, perhaps a touch shortly. “Bismae did find herself several new familiars, much to my disappointment.” Percy played with his bread, peering at its tip as he inspected his hair for split ends. “Needless to say, she brought them home and here they live ... I feel like I live in a zoo.”
--

Jaxon scoffed as Percy said he felt like he lived in a zoo. He had known Bismae for so long now, that Jaxon found it almost unpalatable that Percy regarded her so. At least with Percy and Jaxon, the two didn't get along. But Bismae and Percy? That was different.
“Don't let Bismae hear that.” Jaxon said, leaning forward to pour himself a cup of understepped tea, smirking a bit as Percy twitched. Jaxon didn't really like tea. Not as much as Percy and Bismae anyways. Preferred it weak, like flavoured water.
“I'll be in her room.” Jaxon said, uncoiling his tail as he rose to a taller posture, taking his teacup and slithering off towards Bismae's room, pushing the door wide open and leaving Percy far, far behind.
What a bore, that neko was.
