[ Metaplot ] The War of Huang Lung [ Chronicle of the Dragon - Chapter o1 ]
Prologue...
Of all the tribes, fire was made the most powerful in both body and in spirit. Their ambition shines through their eyes and leaps like embers from a flaming cauldron from their mouths. The Magi, the patrons of their tribes, embodied these values more than any. The first Magi, a female by the name of Xiao Fan began to feel so burdened by the responsibility placed upon her shoulders that her very sanity crumbled away. There are only whispers of her madness, for she vanished nearly as quickly as she appeared, never to be heard from again. The second Magi and mate to the first, Vulkonus remained for some time- but consumed with grief, he isolated himself. Taking council with only his trusted friend and body-guard, Volga, Vulkonus largely acted and spoke to the tribe through him. One night, without word or warning, the second magus vanished.

The tribe stands leaderless with only a fragile whisper of a culture to live within. The B'alam of the Fire Tribe have been left without guidance, without a culture to govern their ways, without a law, and without a law giver. Some have already taken their chances and fled to the lands beyond, hoping to forge a better life for themselves while others remain, hopeful that the Weaver will answer their collective prayers...

Then one day, he appeared...
A B'alam tah with fire in his eyes and a resolve of steel stepped forward out of no where. He was large as any B'alam could hope to get with a broad chest and shoulders a floofalo would grow envious of. In a voice that challenged the rumbling thunder he proclaimed that every member of the tribe gather at the former throne of the departed emperor....

_______________________________________

The Magi have abandoned the Fire Tribe, and a mysterious tah has emerged to fill the empty throne left behind. Shen Lung claims to have been woven for just this purpose. He gives a simple explanation- no one else has laid claim to the throne or stepped up to take the place as the leader of the tribe. Without a leader, the tribe has no direction, no ambition, and no guiding paw into the future. He challenges any who would stand against him to defy him in the form of single combat, proving their worth.

Several B'alam are seduced by his words, filled with new purpose, and step up to defend his claim. The defiant clash with Shen and his loyalists. One B'alam is crippled and taken prisoner while the other is blinded and sent away with any others who will not bow to the new ruler. Shen allows them to leave but orders the borders closed hereafter while the Fire Tribe begins the long process of building itself up from the rubble.

[ Metaplot ] The War of Huang Lung [ Chronicle of the Phoenix - Chapter o1 ]
Prologue...
When Vulkonus, the former first-woven Magus of the Fire Tribe,
vanished, Volga, the emperor's personal bodyguard and best friend believed himself to be partly responsible. When Shen Lung took the throne for himself, Volga could not bear to remain within the tribe and bow to a B'alam who would resort to such tactics. He felt...drawn to the land beyond the jagged peaks surrounding the boarder.

There, he found a sea of obsidian. Among the cruel shards of earth, he came upon a newly-woven cub protecting an injured paroo. There was something about the cub that Volga couldn't dismiss...

[ Metaplot ] The War of Huang Lung [ Chronicle of the Phoenix - Chapter o2 ]

Feng Huang has been paw-chosen by Volga to be the face of an opposing force to eventually reclaim the Fire Tribe. He plans on training the cub in secret, cultivating a leader from the most basic of foundations. Without any personal investment in the conflict, Feng feels not only unfit for the role expected of him, but entirely unprepared to face the challenges ahead.

Four B'alam, each guided through their own means, arrive in the Obsidian Sea, each with a quality that the cub seeks to find within himself. First came the tactful Xian who will help cultivate the young lord's wisdom so that he can make righteous judgments. Then came the spiritual Ling who will lead her young master down the road of faith, acknowledging a power greater than himself. Third came the weapon master, Qiang Shu who would test the cub's mettle and sharpen him into a skilled but patient fighter. Finally came the crimson warrior, Takuma who would mold the cub into a leader- both compassionate and strong. Each of the four B'alam would come to stand beside Volga and Feng Huang to reclaim and reshape the Fire Tribe and its culture.

[ Metaplot ] The War of Huang Lung [ Chronicle of the Phoenix - Chapter o3 ]

Following the confrontation with the usurper, Shen Long, the borders of Yǒnghéng Zhī Huǒ opened up for the final time to allow those who would not stomach the new era to take their leave. Those that left were sent with a mixture of insults and pitying looks by their former kin as they put their homeland to their backs and pressed on into the outside world.

With only the Weaver's whisper to guide them, the group passed away from the rich, lush soil of the chain of volcanoes into a harsh and forgiving land covered by a sea of obsidian. The ground was as glass, and pushing forward was not an easy affair- least of all for Asher who had suffered the loss of his eyes to Shen's claws. Huddled together, the group pushed forward in hopes of finding refuge...

As they pushed through the hostile sea of shale and shard, a young but demanding voice welcomes them to his domain.

[ Metaplot ] The War of Huang Lung [ Chronicle of the Dragon - Chapter o2 ]

A year has passed since Shen Lung took the throne of the Fire Tribe. Under his command, the Fire Tribe formed a formal military broken up into two separate units: The Ballast Unit led by Kyle and the Pyre Unit led by Smaug. Both units fall directly under the powerful commander, Oni, who has begrudgingly remained in service to Shen Lung out of obligation to his tribe and its honor.

During a routine training, the Pyre's general decided to bring his soldiers to observe the training regimen of the Ballast Unit. The intrusion nearly brought the generals to blows but the conflict was quickly broken apart by the arrival of Shen Lung and his empress.

Shen reminded the generals that they first had to learn their own units before trying to test one another and urged them to return to their own fields. Before the tension could entirely settle, one of Shen's loyalists emerged, leading a bound nan who she had caught consorting with Volga beyond the border. The nan remained silent, but the mysterious power of the empress revealed the truth of the recent treachery. Rather than suffer a traitor among his tribe, Shen ordered that the nan fight for her life in single combat with him.

Lokaste refused to raise a paw in the conflict and was easily laid low by the Fire Emperor. Unfortunately, one of the soldiers that had been training on the field at that moment was her other half. The tah's reactions must have been written over his features for Kyle demanded that of all the soldiers, he proved his loyalty to Shen by...addressing the body of the traitor.

[ Metaplot ] The War of Huang Lung [ Chronicle of the Phoenix - Chapter o4 ]

"Jao Yang" means "rising sun" and is the name given to the cubs entering the Phoenix Army. These young warriors will be posted directly under the service of Feng Huang as his first lesson in leadership. The cubs will grow together as a surrogate family, forming a bond that only brothers and sisters in arms can share.

Much of the young ones that left the Fire Tribe know very little of the events within their former homeland. Seeing this as an opportunity for Feng to test his leadership skills, he tasked the young lord with training his own elite group of personal soldiers to serve directly under him. A year passes as the cubs grow from small and clumsy to lithe and full of wild energy.
