- Gravity Field[Internal, Decrease] He can decrease gravity in a spherical field, his body being the center of that field. He can create a field with a radius of up to 19ft in any direction. He is able to decrease gravity to anything less than 1 G-force, the force of gravity on earth. His body is effected by gravity changes in internal fields.
Gravity Field[Internal, Increase] He can increase gravity in a spherical field, his body being the center of that field. He can create a field with a radius of up to 14.7ft in any direction. He is able to increase gravity up to 3.9G.
Gravity Field[External, Decrease] He can create an external field of decreased gravity outside his body. He can create a field with a radius up to 7.8ft or 2.4m. This field decreases in size ~3.6in per 1ft of distance or f(x)=4(pi)[7.8-(.3)x]. This field zeroes out at ~26ft. He can decrease gravity to anything less than 1G. His body is not effected by gravity changes in external fields.
Gravity Field[External, Increase] He can create an external field of decreased gravity outside his body. He can create a field with a radius up to 5.8ft. This field decreases in size at the same rate. This field zeroes out at ~26ft. He can increase gravity up to 3.9G.
➳ What are their weaknesses?
- The effects increased and decreased gravity on his body over his lifetime caused a gradual decline in joint, bone, cardiac, and muscle health. His body is more fragile than the average adult his age and he isn't strong in a physical fight. He's prone to injury, especially broken bones.
He is limited by his own stamina; larger fields use more energy. Increasing gravity is more physically demanding and roughly similar to the energy exerted during moderate-to-high exercise. Decreased gravity is similar to light exercise.
His body is limited by what gravity it can withstand. Though he could trap someone or something in a high gravity field, he will also immobilize himself. On the other hand, light gravity fields offer absolutely no protection against projectile weapons as none of his fields are large enough to slow them, leaving him vulnerable in them.
➳ How do they act?
- Carefree and optimistic, Rory is prankster with a good heart. He likes to poke and prod where he shouldn't, but always means well and is generally easy to get along with. He's trusting and gullible, prefers to never be too serious even when the situation might demand for it. He considers himself an observer of people, an amateur philosopher of human nature, an inquirer into mysteries of the world- or maybe he's just good at talking out of his a** with the confidence of a lawyer. He can be flighty and unreliable at times, often late or forgetting he made plans altogether, though sometimes he simply doesn't want to show up. He's clumsy and air-headed, never boisterous but always amiable. Rory can be misguided and reckless sometimes, caring more for having fun than being responsible.
➳ What's their backstory?
- Born to an adventurous mother and a free-spirited father, Rory lived a rather unconventional childhood. He moved often, more used to the small trailer home hitched to their truck than a house with roots in the ground. His mother was a budding photographer, who he inherited his powers from. She secretly used her powers to aid her photography, reaching places others wouldn't be able to without special equipment. His father was an aspiring journalist, an immigrant from Ireland who left after a bad fight with his parents. Rory was home-schooled, never living in the same place more than six months. His parents were fun and loving, though neglectful at times in their pursuit of their work. He was often free to roam wherever they'd anchored, and thus he was free to seek out all the trouble an adolescent boy could want.
Eventually his parents divorced, forcing them to settle in Massachusetts- the state they'd been married in and where Rory was born- for a grueling eight months. Their marriage had soured when their creative interests stopped matching, when Rory kept getting into trouble and one parent blamed the other, when living cramped in their tiny trailer stopped being cozy, when there never seemed to be enough money... The divorce was a long custody battle over Rory; during the time he enrolled in his first public school. Then his second, and finally a third. Torn between arguing parents, constantly dragged from one house to another, and forced into a stressful new situation, Rory acted out at school. He had a hard time making friends and often got into fights instead. Eventually the divorce ended and his father smugly won custody. The two soon moved to Ireland, where Rory's father moved them in with his parents... and quickly left again, ever pursuing his endeavors in journalism.
His grandparents were a more stable influence on Rory, though he still managed to find trouble. He mellowed out and made a few friends, lead a relatively normal teenage life. But wandering was in his blood, and after a flurry of janitorial, coffee shop, and fast food jobs, he save enough money at eighteen to fly to America. He had plans for a cross country road-trip, but was quickly laid low after a car crash that demolished his beater car, broke his arm, and drained his meager savings. Forced to find a job and stay put, Rory ended up staying put far longer than he meant. Now he fluctuates between two or three jobs and attends community college, studying English and pursuing a career in writing. He only recently began to pursue becoming a hero, and not for entirely selfless reasons; he got bored and wanted to do something exciting.
➳ Anything else we need to know?
