                                                  FRIDAY | APRIL 6, 2012 | 7:24 PM

O Paraíso Perdido (English: “The Last Paradise”) was the site of the family reunion, a fancy Portuguese restaurant in an equally flashy part of the city. It was yesterday afternoon when she left a small invitation in ornate lettering, stating the time and location; the handwriting was familiar enough. It was nearly half past seven, and the sun would set soon enough, but the semi-retired supervillainess took it upon herself to invite her old flame and their daughter to a family dinner, odd yet not surprising from someone like her. It was very public too, largely because of how no one could recognize her. She was seated demurely at a table inside, but near a window. Many also followed in her example, due to the light rain outside. She knew it would rain, but she found it soothing, a small comfort that never left her. All the while, she prepared not to drench her clothes. Her choice of attire was a black bodycon dress with long sleeves and strap boots, black-framed glasses for her eyes, and a loose ponytail, slightly lighter in shade than in their previous meeting. Her choice of perfume was sweet and sensual, like that of vanilla, patchouli, and citrus. Her makeup usage was modest, and it wasn’t as grandiose as her usual appearances. It seemed she wanted to blend in more practically. While she hadn’t explicitly stated how to dress, the occasion was specified for dining, so that much could have been implied.

Morgana

Alison was the second to arrive, naturally confused by the invitation and deeply curious for the reasoning. She had found the letter in her bedroom, shortly after their victory in rescuing their comrades from those horrid pods. Why would her mother wish to meet her somewhere so public? Both previous meetings had been done in private. As always a blessed silence came as she reached the O Paraíso Perdido, indicating Miss Nemesis's presence inside the building. All the nattering voices of others internal dialog vanished, along with the rest of her abilities, leaving her to hear only what everyone else did. Patrons quietly talking among themselves. One had to wonder just powerful she was to so casually shut down her daughters powers. It didn't take long to find where Miss Nemesis was seated. One might suspect her mother had a hand in that as well. As always she struggled with what she ought to say, but eventually settled on the generic "How are you?"

Adrian Sterling

Adrian was the last to arrive. He had spent the better half of the last hour trying to fix his garbage disposal with little success and had lost track of time. So he chose to be a little late rather than look messy when he arrived. When he arrived he was wearing a simple black suit, on that an observant person would be able to deduce he also wore for work on occasion but it was a nice suit nonetheless. When he came close to O Paraíso Perdido he felt an oddly familiar tick in the back of his mind that unsettled him but also overwhelmed him with memories. He had always felt that tick when she was around. The woman who, despite everything, he still loved. It caused him to hesitate a little at the doorway, that old feeling, but he entered regardless and moved almost directly to the table where he found his former love and his daughter. It seemed that Alison had asked her mother a question and so Adrian said nothing to introduce himself. He just quietly moved towards them.

“Please, sit. We have some catching up to do,” she said, motioning to the nearest seats. It was public, yet the others weren’t under any trance; the setting was quite real, albeit with the tranquil silence of any telepathy. It seemed that the villainous mother wasn't using hers either, seeing as she peered around in search before spotting them previously. “It may surprise you, but I've nothing up my sleeve this time. I merely wanted to reconcile this strange family before I left.” Her last sentence implied she would be going away for some time, which she was.

Alison was more than a little shocked when her father showed up at the table. Honestly she’d been avoiding him since being involved in taking the trucks and freeing some villains, knowing he’d disapprove. Nonetheless, she took a seat across from her mother at her request, all kinds of curious about why the three of them were gathered here. “You’re leaving?” They had only just started getting to know each other, mother and daughter. Perhaps she shouldn't be surprised that someone who had been absent her whole life would leave so soon, but the notion upset her.

Adrian took a seat silently and listened to the mother of his child speak. He didn't look at his daughter. He knew what she had been doing and he was disappointed in her. He spent much of his life trying to prevent her from going down the path she had and she had done it anyways. He didn't know why and he didn't care. He just felt like he had failed as a parent. When Alison voiced a question about her mother leaving, Adrian voices a similar but different one. "Why are you going away again?" He had other questions too. Why did she suddenly care? Why call him here? To him, she had stopped caring a long time ago, but he still did.
