➳ What's their backstory?
- Lilith was born to Janet and Lance Mathews twenty years after the Chicago Expirement had taken place. The radiation and smoke that seeped into the city had several causalities, but her parents were to be among the survivors despite inhaling the unknown chemicals that infiltrated the air. Without knowledge of their own, Lileth's genetic composition began to mutate into a horrible combination which resulted in her horrific abilities. At the age of three, one at a time, her powers began to burst out without warning. The first to emerge was her disease-ridden gaseous state; her mother had taken a night shift leaving her father to care for their daughter. Lilith was spooked from a nightmare thus activating her powers, but she was unaware that she had changed into a poisonous gaseous state as she shifted through the air vents and headed for her parent--still unknown that she was in this form. He soon died as a result. Her mother was unaware of the cause of death as well as the rest of the medical staff. Given Lilith was the cause of this incident, she was traumatized and believed it to be natural causes as her mother and the rest of the hospital had concluded.
Four years after this, she began to notice that if she stared long enough at people or pets, she could see red branch-like lines moving. She of course told her mother, but they thought it was a mere need of glasses.
The next was her ability to manipulate disease. Her mother was working a double late shift one night, when she came home. Janet had lost her keys when leaving the house and started banging on the door which had not peep hole at the time. Thirteen year old Lilith felt she was in danger, again activating her powers--this time, more lethal. Opening the door cautiously, she grabbed the hearth tool close to the fire place and held it at eye level. The gaze that Janet gave Lilith was of fear, but she grabbed the tool from Lilith's grasp. Her mother soon began to inhale deeply and her skin turned a dark shade of green. The medical diagnostics concluded that the cause of death was an unknown super-virus that hijacked her nervous system. Lilith also broke out in hives as she came to realize that there were consequences that she herself didn't know but had to control somehow.
Lilith was soon placed in foster care since both of her parents had died from unknown causes, none of her relatives wanted to risk the chance to know why. The final ability that she soon acquired at the age of seventeen was the fatal power of physical drainage. It didn't take long enough for her to realize that she took the lives of her whole foster family. Rage soon filled her to the brim and she runaway. She now calls an abandoned building her home in the outskirts of Chicago.
